  1. Forgive the war analogy. The war is at a stand off. General Metabolism has ordered a tactical retreat into a defensible position. President Grey Matter has ordered a build up of forces with increased quality of rations and exercise maneuvers. The weak elements of the army are washing out. The flame throwing expanded muscle Fiber brigade are ready to incinerate the enemy. Although Darla Depresso is on the radio trying to tell the troops that the Fat Reich will prevail, the science officers from the Matter administration are keeping the morale high. The tide turns! The Reich is pushed back. Although seeming to rally at times, the lines of evil diminish. President Grey Matter orders celebrations. The nation prospers in freedom and decks itself with beautiful new tapestries. Victory at last!
  2. The scale is a disinterested observer. The friend or foe is in the head. The trick is taking in his data and concluding wisely. About 50% of the topics here are born of false assumption and hysteria. But..that's ok....we is what we is....human Beans. Mmmmmmm.......beans!

    situps.

The bodyblade is quite a deal. I have been using the bodyblade as a good warm up lately proceeding heavy lifting. It is great on it's own, too. The short frequent movements build up and put a fatigue on the muscles pretty quick. It is great for working out injuries, it is used for that in therapy. The ab exercises are not extensive with this but they are pretty effective. It looks like you have abs covered real good with what you are doing.

    Post VSG and 3-D movies?

I can't forsee Gatsby having any motion sickness inducing scenes. However, I would stay away from Avatar if anyone has a 3D TV. Those Pandora floating mountain scenes where they are flying the banshees are a sure upchucker.

    "No go" foods

Rice is not nice. Spicy foods have forsaken me as well. Hot and sour Soup, my favorite soup in all the world, the only one that came through for me when chemo had destroyed my taste buds, has also left town. Steak ...hard to take, except porterhouse for some reason. whey powder is still a staple but it does bind my elimination a bit. eggs are my friend and cheese do please. My new love is green superfood powder that I mix with green tea extract and a bit of stevia. First thing in the morning and I sing with the birdies.

    Knee issues

I am 64 and ever conscious of my knees. They are in much less jeopardy since losing 114 pounds but I am still careful. I do squats but at first just went down a little bit and very slowly. They were more like 1/4 squats. If even that is too much you can go down a bit and just hold it as long as possible, making it into an isometric exercise. I am doing full squats now but still very slow going down. I like full squats because they hit the butt muscles which are the largest in the body. Big muscles burn fat. My wife has a gazelle: It does your quads good if you bend your knees a bit while using it.
  8. Wife and I both kicked diabetes and sleep apnea. I also got over high blood pressure which I had for many years. No meds now but very conscious of getting nutrition and exercise in. Welcome to you, Fishing Fool, may you live long and prosper!

    Full Liquids .. grr

Hang in there, juicers. You're being good to sleevie. Let her heal good and she will pay you back with lots of butt kicking victories. The payback far exceeds the price.

Im stalled at 195 or 194

Getting fiber in can help, benefiber can help. Keep it moving. Water gets rid of water as Kiki said. Eating a bit more can bust it at times.

    Need some encouragement!

You are losing at about the same rate I did. As you can see in my signature, I have reached and passed my goal. I broke several stalls with extended walking. I went on vacation and walked in theme parks every day. Water, vitamins, fiber, and even eating a bit more can bust through stalls.
  13. Good one! Easily remedied with new pants. Actually, my several supremely embarrassing instances with pants hitting the ground occurred because my belt and pants slipped down to the Southern Hemisphere of the huge globe of a belly I had. My smaller hips were no help and down they went along with my dignity. I am so happy to have exposed hip bones again, I go belt-less now with no trepidation.

    I am worried

I think that the hunger hormone, ghrelin, which was somewhat removed when part of your stomach was removed is still in the body and in the blood. Head hunger accounts for much as well. It will calm down for you more than likely.

    situps.

I don't do sit ups but I workout abs with my bodyblade and through the kettlebell and other exercises. I have just begun doing full on push ups which work the abs. For over a year it caused me some pain to put a strain on abs and I took it easy. I am in real good shape now and got there without injury. Way to go, Gman!

    Something in my sleeve....

If your docs don't know what it is they will probably consult some other docs. Sometimes the consulting ends up here: http://my.clevelandclinic.org/florida/departments/general_surgery/bariatric/default.aspx The Cleveland Center in Florida is one of the best in the world. My 1rst class surgeon studied there.

    I have something to say!

I don't have a problem with your diet. Yes, carbs and fat are important. Protein just takes first chair. I don't know what you expected to happen after your post. I've been on this forum since Jan. 2012 and have over 1,147 posts and have started 55 topics, I've said some pretty wild stuff but so far no one has done me any physical or emotional damage. It is just a forum full of semi-anonymous people, they have no access to me other than what I give them. I don't consider that any of them know me well enough to hurt me. I am not so worried about "being judged". When someone disagrees with what I say it is just that, a disagreement. That's how we learn from each other. Abuse is not tolerated here, that is a different story.

    best green superfood powder?

I have a friend who had RNY and gained the weight back. The little pouch expands more than our tough sleeve. I guess other than the duodenal switch there is no other alternative but the band. I am glad I have the sleeve although my wife is doing well with RNY.

13 days till my big day

I used to be before the operation. It left me soon afterward. Same thing happened to my wife. Losing the diabetes, not leaving me.

    Weight gain/weight lost

If you go by the charts I lost about 87% of my excess. The charts must have been made by willowy super models. I am in extremely good shape now but it says I could lose another 20. Some of that is spare skin and the chart doesn't allow for big muscles. The sleeve doesn't stretch much but if you eat crapola in small increments incessantly you can defeat it. The remedy? Don't.

Martial arts after cleared by a surgeon?

Martial arts are great exercise and fun. If you are talking about karate I would concentrate on the forms and strikes but I would not engage in free fighting. Your surgery needs to be not punched for a year or more. Judo can be a problem for a while. The throws could tear you up, give that time, too. Just my opinion, grasshopper.
