Didn't realize that I had lost so much hope
gmanbat replied to kiwi17's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You guys are getting in the Back To The Future/Peggy Sue Got Married time machine! I used to say, "If I only had this wise old brain in that young body I had back then!" Outside of a little loose skin...it's baaaack! -
Didn't realize that I had lost so much hope
gmanbat replied to kiwi17's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My wife saved a short and halter top outfit that she wore when we were honeymooners. She brought it out on occasion with the picture of her in it during her many failed diets to motivate herself. She never lost enough. 40 years later, she is finally back into it, thanks to weight loss surgery and her own discipline. She be lookin fine! Edit: Here's the pictures: Age 22: Age 58: Age: 62 -
Where did you get those? Look great!

I recently had a guest from Alaska. She is of Eskimo origin, a lovely lady. She was a walking chamber of commerce for Alaska. I recently moved to Florida and have enjoyed escaping Ohio winters. I must admit the way she talked about her home state tempted me to consider moving there. I have always liked mountains and beautiful streams. I did 3 days once backpacking, tent camping, and fishing in the Yellowstone region. Fantastic!

Excuse me, I seem to have misplaced 100 pounds...
gmanbat replied to SerendipityHappens's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Good point. Save up for the second pair, Serendipity. I didn't realize that fat lurks even in feet but it sure do. I went from 13 to 12. -
During my depressions in the old days I sometimes just rode it out. I wrote some dark poetry that I wouldn't impose on my worst enemy. It's better to lighten up and choose the happiness. There is a lot to be grateful for if you look for it.

Excuse me, I seem to have misplaced 100 pounds...

Wow! Way to go! I like New Balance, they always fit me well. What a great purchase! You invested in your health and success. You will make it down to lean and mean for sure. I splurged on the best shoes I could find. I have used them to the max. -
I was a bit apprehensive but looking at the overall picture I was more concerned about what my continued obesity would do to me. It has been a year and 5 months since my surgery. If I hadn't gone through with it there is a good chance that I would be dead now. I was going down that fast. Yesterday my wife came out to watch me run up "fat killer hill". It is a steep hill in my neighborhood here in Dade City, Florida. I have 2 1/2 pound weights on both feet and run with a 20 pound kettle bell held out in front and overhead. I run full speed up the hill for 30 seconds and walk down and do it again, 12 times. Deb was smiling like a Cheshire Cat when I was done. She's seen me puffing and panting pre-surgery from just walking up the stairs. Before we got back to the house I was breathing normally. I took a chance with this surgery. I won.

My doc was death on smoking. He would not operate if his tests found smoking. Most of the complications he had to deal with were smoking related. He would send you packing. I am "smoking" now, at least my wife thinks so.

Need some tips... Hit my first stall
gmanbat replied to Denn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your brain calls it a stall because of the concept of time. Your body doesn't care about time. It does it's job. It always works for it's own benefit no matter what the conscious brain thinks. The intelligence is built in. The best we can do is follow the guidelines and get tips which is what you are doing. Water, exercise, Fiber, Protein, enough calories are all helpful when you can get them. -

I have been reading about severe calorie deprevation taking out muscle with fat. When you are a little ways out you begin eating more and the muscle comes back on, increasing the scale report. You have "lifter" in your name. Muscle building makes the scale jump up and down like an angry kangaroo. Let him fume. Water retention from muscle pumps is a given. The fat leaves though, muscle comes back on with it's calorie burning obsession and stands guard against any fat re-infestation.

Vanilla Latte Muscle Milk Light not for coffee fans.....
gmanbat replied to Kalimomof3's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I have never tried it. Do you think you could just dump some coffee into it to fix it? -
Oh, man, I thought that said,"Splitting Up", a thread about divorce. I gotta get new glasses. That tummy just got traumatized. I could barely drink a thimble full for a week. It gets better.

How to start loving your workout! (Or anything you hate to do)
gmanbat replied to mistysj's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I love my Peanut Butter whey shakes with banana. I only get one after a good workout. You can increase your running speed easily by doing it in rough neighborhoods. -
They took part of your stomach out, they didn't add anything but staples. They did not add will power. Your head brings that into the picture. Sleeving does not eliminate the need for will power, it just gives it help. It does not choose food for you. It comes down to how you are willing to fight: fight with the sleeve to be slim and healthy or fight against the sleeve for the right to indulge to your own detriment. This appetite bully thing is not as big as it appears to you. Back it down. Get mad, get mean, kick it's butt!

I regret that I didn't fully appreciate my slim body that I had in my 20's. Now that I have it back I'm making up for it. Yeehaw!!!

Terrible. Prayers for everyone there.

tired of horror stories
gmanbat replied to SamIAm3791's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Man, urinating out the left ear! That would have come handy the times I was stuck in traffic jams and my kidneys were busting. Roll down the window...aaahhh! Ya, every time I have told someone about sleeving they have known of someone who knows of someone that gained it all back or had big complications. It comes with the territory I guess.
