  1. Think of all the times that question would have been asked if men had babies.
  2. You'll get it all off, Dianna. In my case the belly is the last to go although the loose skin makes up some of it. Soon such questions will be in your past. Some people's minds are like those dolls the neighbor girls had when I was a kid. They put the bottle to their mouth and the Water immediately came out their crotch. A thought in a moron's head comes right out the mouth unhindered by logic or sensitivity.
  3. Blame it on Florida. Ft. Lauderdale to be exact. Sensitivity and ethics class started right after spring break. Big benders affect retention. Either that or he's a jerk.

  7. Wonderful! You represented everything great and amazingly so did the news station. You will help many folks.
  8. Research: what to eat, when, how, and how much. Stock up on good stuff, shed the bad stuff. Research exercise, find what works for you, plan out your lifelong commitment to being mean and lean. Think a lot: what is food....really? Is it life..is it love...is it meaning? Or is it energy that tastes good going in? It will still be that, chew slower, concentrate more. Quality time with food has nothing to do with quantity. Your taste buds are in your mouth, not in the stretchy part of your belly that will soon be gone. I enjoy food now more than before. Knowing that food is no longer making me prematurely dead seems to enhance its appeal. Anticipate life without obesity. If you have used it emotionally find other coping mechanisms. If you have hated yourself because of it, prepare to forgive and love yourself. Find non-eating pursuits to distract yourself, especially in the pre-op diet time. Prepare to empty your closet several times, buy cheap clothes until goal. Thrift stores are Gman approved.
  9. True that! Also, Water from eyes does not sincerity assure. I can produce it with nothing more than a mental rerun of Old Yeller.
  10. 90 is not too old to grow up. Tell her how she sounds, how she comes off to you, question if she really loves you, show her that she is her own worst enemy, tune her up. At any age, a brat is a brat. Spank her butt.....respectfully.

    Tomorrows the Day- HIGH Anxiety!

I feel for you guys. I have been in many high anxiety situations, fortunately the surgery was not one of them. Debriefing myself after many a high-anxiety situation has taught me a few things. Most of what I was worried about never happened. The majority was imagination. The mind runs an infinite number of simulations in preparation but seldom gets it exactly right. Many times the greater problem was the stress of anticipating the problem. I would have better served myself by enjoying some pleasant diversion. You might as well enjoy the ride once you're on it. I tell myself that when I get on terrifying roller coasters with my granddaughter. When I get to the cloud-scraping top of the first hill I enjoy the view before my plunge into horror. When the coaster pulls into the end I congratulate myself on my level of courage before my granddaughter says those words that put the gnawing rat back into my stomach, "Can we ride again?

    Self Image

Very perceptive. There is a difference in the way we perceive ourselves and they way we actually are. My mother could not believe that old woman in the mirror was her. Now that I am 64, I know what she meant. I did not begin thinking of myself as fat until the physical limitations and discomforts set in. Now I think of myself as thin but not perfect which is OK with me. There is a body-mind-emotion connection. When changes occur in any of them the others must change accordingly. Change takes time and work, it is not automatic. If you want the best for yourself you will lead the body into health and ability. Irrational and illusionary images must be defeated with self-truthing as in the case of your friend. You are facing reality and that is good. Remember, you are looking at a temporary picture. You are making change happen. When the time comes that the obesity is gone you will be able to adjust your self picture and enjoy the new you because you faced the old you head on.

    Farting (lol)

Consensus here seems to be that extended walking works the methane out. How and why I do not know, but I do know that it is better to fart and bare the shame than not to fart and bare the pain.

    Winning!

Rides do tell you something. Went through a similar thing at Universal, sat, watched, and waited. Now youngest granddaughter and I make everyone else wait while we ride the adrenaline spikers!
  16. We set up imaginary people in our minds with their negative reactions and then look at ourselves through their eyes. It's human nature to prepare for the worst. No doubt you will run into negative folks. Look at yourself through your own eyes regardless of what they "see". Don't borrow shame, don't accept it at the hands of others. It is up to you to know what is right and wrong. People that get this surgery learn to know themselves and defend that identity. Adversity is a university. You have a good list of reasons to be proud of you. Unload the self-doubt along with the fat. Give yourself permission to be extraordinary. From what I see you have good reason to be proud. But it is not what I see that counts, it's what you KNOW.
  17. ....astronauts. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_space_travelers_by_name Remember, it's not the pull of gravity that matters, it's the composition of the mass.
  18. Will your daughter tell your friend that you had the sleeve? If so, your secret may be out after your talkative friend lets it slip. Prepare to be outed even if it doesn't happen. Doesn't hurt to be ready. If you have to tell, talk like you did a good thing. You did.
  19. I am happy to pray for you! God speed.

I will check into it. Like you, that loose belly area is about it. Thanks!
  21. If you have healed up well I say jump in. No, step in carefully. Say hi to rubber ducky.
  22. I believe an over abundance of food dulls the thinking. I have had times when I had nothing but water for days. When I wasn't thinking about cheeseburgers my thought was clear and lucid. Since my surgery my energy has improved immensely and I think my brain functions better. I have been working off my new found mental energy at this forum and other places online, writing a lot, and talking the legs off of my family and friends. New enthusiasm for life and better firing of electrical impulses in the brain makes for a hunger for communication and creativity. Marfar7, you are looking at things in a new way and considering things that passed by you before. Sounds like a fresh brain to me.

    To easy

Sometimes in preparation for the worst we brace for a storm. When the storm passes by and doesn't whip our butts we are left with the braces. Leave them up. Save them for the stalls and lifelong maintenance.
