Wow, that is the truth, Dianne! Rapid weight loss especially brings out the curiosity and concern. Remarks by people are interesting to analyze, (why they said what they said), but not to worry over.

Then there are the folks who defend obesity as a civil rights issue. "Love yourself the way you are" taken to ridiculous levels. We have brains to change the way we are if the way we are is destructive and can be changed. Obesity kills, I gladly gave up my "right" to be fat.

Amazing! I was thinking this very thing the other day after eating a pitiful amount of food. I was full, of course, because I have a little tummy. Then the guilt set in like it always did when I had the same feeling with my big, stretchy belly. Somehow, a deeper level of consciousness came over me and I realized that the guilt was a ghost from the past. "I have eaten within guidelines", I told myself, "Wake up!" I have other ghosts from addictions past: drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, promiscuity, that come to haunt me from time to time either with guilt or invitations to return to prison. I realize and rejoice that I am not that man anymore. I turn on the lights, they vanish.

Is there a decaf coffeee that actually tastes rich and good?
gmanbat replied to Bronco0605's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
http://www.advancedw...iatric-surgery/ Caffeine after Bariatric Surgery We are often asked if caffeine consumption is appropriate after bariatric surgery. The answer, as with most dietary issues after weight loss surgery, is that moderation is the key to a successful post bariatric surgery lifestyle. If the patient is able to keep their consumption of caffeine at a reasonable level, it usually does not pose a significant issue to their post-surgical lifestyle. http://www.webmd.com...myths-and-facts Caffeine Myth No. 5: Caffeine Has a Dehydrating Effect Caffeine can make you need to urinate. However, the Fluid you consume in caffeinated beverages tends to offset the effects of fluid loss when you urinate. The bottom line is that although caffeine does act as a mild diuretic, studies show drinking caffeinated drinks in moderation doesn't actually cause dehydration. Don't agree with your doc, obviously, but you will not be harmed by his advice. I have never experienced a decent decaf so I would be interested in the responses. -

gmanbat replied to Poorehouse's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
1 1/2 years, 130 pounds, kept it off. -
My wife got pretty thin in the hair department and bought a wig. She looked great in it. She has since come back to about 85% of pre-surgery thickness. She doesn't wear the wig much any more. She never had lost it all, she only lost about 30% of her hair thickness .

I can eat one but get very little pleasure out of it not to mention that the abundant sugar nauseates me. I do, however, get a great deal of pleasure out of seeing my belt buckle without a mirror. -

Looks to me like the "paper expert" syndrome. Degrees, titles, certificates on the wall, out of touch with real world experience. The main thing obtained is blind arrogance, very common these days in every field. Universities turn out trainloads of incompetence, we are all inundated with misinformation. Your diet and exercise plan looks superb to me. You can trust my opinion, I graduated from welding school.

I'm a year an a half out and rice still gets me. Popcorn is out but I'm prone to diverticulitis so I avoid it anyway. Nuts, seeds, berries present no difficulty as long as I chew them well and eat slowly. To be safe the 6-8 week wait is a good idea.

Yay! My best to you, you got this!

Welcome to the neighborhood, Mr. Rogers! I was 340, now 210 . I went from being pushed around Universal Resort in a wheelchair, not even trying to fit into the ride seats, to running around like an idiot, riding everything with my granddaughter, only slowed down by motion sickness

got to learn my new tummy
gmanbat replied to Dee White's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tummy acceptance without discomfort kickback involves a number of variables. Volume, velocity of eating, spicy-ness, time of day, recent water drinking, etc. all can factor into digestive hassle. There are some foods that have been known to aggravate, rice is one for me, and too much coffee. -
Zephyrhills.....good Water, trailer parks, cheap Breakfast joints, seniors, lottery winner, ....my kinda place.

Down here in my part of Florida it has rained every afternoon for months it seems. What does that have to do with eating chicken nuggets? I can't think of any connection either. I need some sleep, sorry. You will be fine. I am glad you are concerned, that is a good sign.

I went through a phase of revulsion with the eaters around me. It was like I woke up and my family and friends had turned into disgusting, gorging pigs. I reasoned my way to peace, it was I who had changed. Food had come down from it's throne for me, others still venerated it and I had to co-exist. I can eat with anyone without gagging now no matter how much they put away. I am as happy as a clam with my few mouthfuls and out.

someone one asked me my "due date"
gmanbat replied to diana89131's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I bought my wife some tiny clothes today, she's lost 110 pounds. Pants were 4's, shirts were extra smalls. Before nothing looked good on her as far as she was concerned, now everything looks good. She's easy on the eyes, hard on the billfold. That big smile melts me down. I gotta say it's fun, though.
