  1. Yesterday I was out with my wife and she drew my my attention to a man with a large belly. She said, "That is just what you used to look like." "Yes, and you used to constantly tell me to pull my jacked-up shirt back over my belly!" I said. "You haven't bugged me about that in a long time!" "Yes, I know!" she said with a big smile. She didn't want me walking around with half a hairy belly sticking out, I didn't think I could help it. The shirts I bought fit fine when I bought them, washed once they became belly shirts. I literally walked around with both hands stretching the shirt down over the beach ball so I wouldn't get the needle from her. Of course, she didn't like that either. Now the silence is golden. I no longer own a shirt which instigates a Jerry Springer scene.

    I remember when.....

It is amazing what we considered "normal". The evening meal had to contain meat, potatoes, vegetables, and bread at our house. It also had to be followed up by dessert. Then TV and snacks. Our new lack of capacity sure opened our eyes and shut our overworked jaws.
  3. How horrible for you! If I were to guess, and I guess I am about to guess, the doc is an insecure little toady inside and likes his feeling of power with women in a vulnerable position and then going into whatever sadistic tirade seems suitable to the moment. His school had to talk about proper conversation when women are in the stirrups...maybe he was sick that day. I know I am ultra-sensitive to nurse talk when they are putting in a catheter....
  4. Time to fess up...I eat too late sometimes. How do I know it is too late? I wake up choking on vomit. Apparently my stomach, "The Bouncer", doesn't care if I am awake or asleep when he does his thing. Being a child of the 60's I think of Jimi Hendrix who experienced this but was drugged out with Vesparax and didn't wake up. I wake up...quickly...whether I'm involved in the flying monkey vs unicorn war or dumping Marylin Monroe, choking on vomit is an eye opener..the dream is over. After getting it out I have a period of coughing, the vomit burns my throat something fierce and I have the feeling that it is not all out even though it probably is. Anyone else experience sleevy jerking you up during REM?
  5. Great article. The word resolution comes from resolve. Resolve requires a made up mind and that is demonstrated by consistency more than in any other way. One can be adamant and emotional on January 1 but lose momentum by January 2. Resolve needs to be visited every day, kept alive by attention, effort and clear thinking. My change came when I kicked out the temporary promises and settled on a permanent condition. I deemed myself worthy of the best body I could obtain. I saw what I wanted to be and made that become a reality. I was determined to do it or die trying. Lifelong athlete, healthy eater. That's it. The sleeve gave me the boost, I won't let it down.

    First time failure ;-(

One battle does not a war decide. You have the enemy on the run. He turned and drew you back into old ruts. You already have him identified. You have a plan of action. He's toast.

    Rude awakenings....

How does Protonix compare to Prilosec? I have not been consistent with taking ppi, have not really settled on one. Thanks!
  9. Good question. I believe I can lose or gain easier now. I know what to do either way. I would say that, unlike before, it is a bit easier to lose it than to gain it. Why? To gain weight I would have to eat things I don't really like and often. I like Protein and low glycemic vegetables. I don't like sweets or empty carbs. I would also have to be somewhat sedentary. To lose it I just have to eat a bit less and move more. Easy, peasy.
  10. I am a man who preferred a slim woman, then changed to a man who preferred a chunky woman, then changed back into a guy who preferred a slim woman. Yup...same woman.
  11. Why I chew up tablets no matter how gross and prefer quick dissolve or liquid capsules.

    Starbucks?

Naaa Starbucks is out. I have a Keurig with about 100 K-cups cranking pretty regular. coffee is OK down the line. Gotta watch the acid though and the sugars.
  13. Good for you, Lotti!!!
  14. What a maroon!...Bugs Bunny Yes, my urologist and lead man in my prostate cancer treatment was reluctant to OK my surgery stating that it was "too hard on the body". This is the guy that made me wear a catheter for 2 weeks for nothing, made me get nasty Lupron injections which killed my testosterone, recommended 45 radiation treatments and ok'd chemotherapy. With all that he promised me I would be dead 3 years ago. Hard on the body? I know that losing the fat lessens the chance of re-occurance. He didn't talk about that.

loving this new body i once had

Wife and I went through brief alarm about possible growths springing up on us, relieved to realize they were long forgotten bones surfacing.

    how in the world?

Ya never know what your body is thinking. Your body could retain 5 pounds of water just because you watched Lawrence of Arabia. Ok, probably not, ......never mind.

    Rude awakenings....

It normally happens pretty close to after I have eaten, regardless of the time. When I take a nap in the daytime urps occur just like at night. I must leave time before sleeping to not eat. Getting goosey-loosey on my discipline recently, gained 5 pounds. Some of it may be muscle but it's time to batten down the hatches anyway. I kicked fatso outa here, he ain't gettin back in.

    Goal- adds more discipline?

Interesting question. Lottery winners by and large blow their money. There are some that keep their wits about them and preserve their lives in the process. Power is difficult to handle without a sense of self and a firm grasp on one's identity. Money is power. If you know who you are and what you stand for money will not destroy you, if you dive without restraint into all that money can buy you it will sweep you away like a tsunami. Losing the fat is like winning the lottery. It comes on you relatively fast. Your body changes..becomes stronger, more healthy and more attractive. You have power that perhaps you never had or hadn't had for a long time. You can take the power for granted and go right back to over eating and other destructive indulgences or you can recognize it for the gift it is and preserve it as a treasure. When I reached goal I was overwhelmed with gratitude. I thought my life was over, it was not. I was given another chance at living and contributing. That is one of the reasons I am a host on this forum. If you value your gift you will protect it. All my best to you!

    Rude awakenings....

hmmm...I take melatonin to aid my sleep, a habit I picked up when I worked 3rd shift at the Juvenile Jail. Maybe it puts me out too much and digestion is halted. Where have I been? I have been frolicking hither, thither, and yon, spreading gmanbatness on all unsuspecting recipients of nonsensical folderol. How you been?
