I lived in Lafayette for a couple years. It is where I acquired a taste for the spicy. Miss that Cajun goodness! Laissez les bons temps rouler!
-
Could you explain this? I am glad you are doing well!
-
Before sleeving I was a spice fanatic. I piled on the cayenne and ate Szechuan peppers, etc.. My first venture with hot and sour soup resulted in a trip to the bathroom. My relationship with hot and spicy food has been discontinued. However, my wife thinks I'm hot and spicy. Fair trade.

Lying about Weight Loss Surgery !

I agree, Recycled, but we have that Florida state of mind. These yanks are all frozed up. -
Substitute addiction - Candy Crush game!
gmanbat replied to mooncat's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My wife is addicted to Plants vs Zombies. I am careful not to look sleepy or walk slow around her for fear she will throw a watermelon at my head. -
Got squeezed so hard: I thought my head was going to pop off!

I want to SCREAM because I love my SLEEVE
gmanbat replied to donaboss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Excellent, Donaboss! You're approaching this in a thoughtful intelligent way and it is going to pay off for you. Slow trains reach their destinations and are less likely to derail. Forge ahead, my friend! -
Hair loss. Canvassing for Dates when it started/finished
gmanbat replied to Madam Reverie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My hair is thin, brown, and straight now. I was born with thick, curly red hair. At 65 I am still not grey at all. My beard is grey but I color it so it doesn't look like I color my hair, which in warped macho reasoning seems the more masculine thing to do. Off the subject, do you guys notice the hair ads at the side? The content driven ads are pretty interesting. I wonder if we could start a thread about vampires and get ads from the Transylvania Tourist Bureau? -
A big congratulations! I look at this like it's war. Before surgery it was face to face battles, many of which I lost. After I got my powerful weaponry I began seeing obesity's backside. On the run now, I ran the bum out of my country. I still have to guard the border but he is a defeated foe. You have him on the run, no mercy!

In the worst scenario loose skin can cause rashes where the folds overlap. It is not a problem for me or my wife who lost as much as I did. I am 2 years out and amazing to me, the skin still seems to be tightening. I can concur with those who have spoken before me, loose skin is far better than deadly, life destroying obesity. It is more a cosmetic problem than a health problem. Not being a nudist, I am grateful that clothing is in my life and does wonders for my image.

This article has much wisdom and great tips on thriving in a sometimes hostile to success atmosphere. Good work, Alex! -
You weigh 320 and hope to lose 140 pounds. Sorry, stones is a measurement I can't get my brain around. So you want to end up at 180? Are you a man or woman and how tall are you? 39 is not real old, I am 65 and my loose skin is not bad at all. I lost 130 pounds. Younger folks usually have more elastic skin.

Great post. Good self evaluation, your commitment goes deep. You are not going in blind, your mind is fully engaged. You are going to have a new life next year at this time.

Sh*t's Gettin Real Up In Here - Knocking On Twoderland's Door
gmanbat commented on joatsaint's blog entry in Gastric Sleeve Surgery - An Unexpected Journey
Started at 340, at 215 now. I wake up many mornings and feel my ribs and realize, yes, I really did lose the fat. I am slim, not a fantasy, not a dream. It is real, my friend! Life IS good! -
How will the Sleeve affect my Singing?
gmanbat replied to joyland's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The stomach is not what you sing with, singing is air passing through vocal chords. That air comes from the lungs. Singing with abdomen muscles is no doubt what you are referring to. After your operation heals your abdomen muscles will be as good as ever. The smaller stomach will have no bearing upon it. However, your wind will improve. Your control of air will increase because with the excess fat gone you will breath easier and not be fighting just to live. I used to breath hard even when I wasn't doing anything. That all went away. Your energy will improve, your general mood will improve, you will sing like a happy bird at dawn! -
pardon me while i brag for a minute
gmanbat replied to hopeliveshere's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good for you, your bragging is warranted. I agree with doc, 400 is mighty low, not real healthy in long term and a messer up of metabolism. Sometimes more (food)leads to less (fat). Eat good food and exercise, you want to spare and build muscle tissue. Good muscles are the key to long term success. -
OK....how did you know.....
gmanbat replied to michelle68's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I believe we have to watch out for things that expand after eating, rice being one of them. Some suchi seems to be quite moist and the rice has already been expanded. Dried fruit such as banana chips are notorious for causing belly problems even for the "stretch bellies". I cannot eat very much potato without filling quickly. Careful experimentation may free you up to eat a wider variety. I was talking to my brother in law last night about the fact that even if I wanted to I can no longer get drunk. My stomach cannot hold enough, I was always hard headed and ended up baby sitting those less resistant. He claimed he could get me some high proof moonshine that would blast me into oblivion. I responded that my stomach, "The Bouncer", would throw it right back out. So I can't get drunk. Never liked me drunk anyway, I annoyed myself and everyone else, no doubt. -
Welcome, Jenny! Don't worry about being long winded, I can identify. As a public speaker I have enthralled many people into a drooling stupor with my seemingly endless verbosity. Sounds like you've done your research and you are on your way. We are here for you, you are so welcome here!

She likes me fat - I make her feel better about herself
gmanbat replied to Kristin1969's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have a big problem with folks who feel better about themselves at the expense of the suffering of other people. Love does not do this. Such is not friendship, it is leaching. Count the surgery as getting rid of excess fat and excess bloodsuckers. -
What's are you doing about clothes?
gmanbat replied to Disabledaccount's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In honor of my wife's shabby chic decor trend I dress in harmony. Ok, I'm cheap and don't care how I look. I went through a phase when I reached goal of buying expensive clothes. Now I am used to being slim and have moved back to Slobivia. -
Acid is the problem. Does not dehydrate, the water cancels out the caffeine. Don't figure coffee in your daily water intake, though. Coffee has saved me from the repercussions of morning grumpiness many times.

Get back on the tracks, a hot dog cannot permanently derail your train. Get the sinus infection treated.

I feel so depressed
gmanbat replied to hpendleton0126's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you guys live in cold country watch out for "winter instinct", my term for it. My primary physician pointed it out long ago before my sleeve. The cold weather increases appetite, not sure why, maybe some instinctual need to store up or build fat layers against the cold. It has been relatively cold here in Florida, close to 32 degrees at night, 60's in the day. That was enough to step on the eating gas for me. We must override basic instinct with our higher reasoning brains. Resist the mindless hoarding! -
How can you tell you're losing weight?
gmanbat replied to Comfy_Blue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No science for this but just observation...the part that you want to go down the most is the one that goes down last. In my case,.. the belly. It does come off, though. -
How can you tell you're losing weight?
gmanbat replied to Comfy_Blue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Other people that only see you occasionally can see what you don't because of your being gradually acclimated. When you get close to your goal weight all of your questions will be answered. My wedding ring has changed fingers and may have to change hands until I get it resized. The only thing that is not changing is my wife, she's a keeper.
