Hi, I'm new to Vertical Sleeve Talk. I had my surgery by Dr. Eggebroten/Dr. Harold at Ft. Lewis' Madigan hospital. They did a spectacular job! I was a bit sore for the first couple days, but it has been great so far. I'm down 16 lbs! I know most of it is Water weight, but hey, it's still weight! I have some pictures that my husband took the morning of the surgery, but I've still got to download them to post. I figured on taking pictures monthly. But some really great news: I'm not having cravings like before! I'm still at the liquid stage, eating Soups mostly. I have 8oz 1%milk each morning with 2 scoops whey Protein (52g of protein in one drink!), then I eat a can of Soup for lunch and dinner. I've pureed the chunky soups so they're more filling than just broth based soups. I've also had some pudding and Jello. Mostly, the newest thing is always keeping my 32oz drink with me. I stay hydrated throughout the day. Also some really good news is that I have almost NO water retention! I was able to put on my tall zip up boots the other day! Very nice. Well, I'm anxious to hear from everyone. We've started a new business, had this surgery, and are very busy with our 5 kids. Life must go on! I'll write again soon!

bullockes replied to alexeleni's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
Totally unrelated to this thread, but how do I get the ticker factory or my fitness pal weight loss tracker under my posts? I'm not the most computer savy out there so any help is appreciated! sAndi -
What Are Your Typical Meals/snacks? What Are You Eating?
bullockes replied to lilymorg's topic in Food and Nutrition
I was sleeved on Jan 3, 2012, and I've not had any problems with eating. I've felt too full a time or two but nothing extreme. I've been able to handle quite a bit of food. Usually 1 - 1 1/2 cups of food at a time. I'm running now which is really good and it actually feels really good. I've got to get over the mental block of this exercise, but once I start, I'm good. I've lost 30 lbs since surgery. It is coming off really slow, but I'm actually okay with that. I want it to come off slowly so I can feel like I'm doing this really well. I usually eat 2 hard boiled eggs for breakfast or a slice of peanut buttered toast, lunch is either 1 cup or so of soup or left overs from dinner, and dinner is usually a smaller portion of whatever I've fixed for the family. If they are having hamburgers or hot dogs, then I have a salad with the meat in it or something else that is better for me. I haven't denied myself any treats, but I also haven't had them very often. For example, my family wanted ice cream and they got it, but I got a small dipping dots cup (2/3 cup of ice cream in little balls). Very satisfying but not nearly the calories. Other Snacks I've had are Chobani yogurt, carrots w/ humus, grape tomato w/humus, deli meat rolled up with a cheese stick, or some fresh fruit. Hope this helps, Sandi http://myselfsufficientlife2012.blogspot.com/p/diet-diary.html you can view what I'm eating on my blog here! -
What Are Your Typical Meals/snacks? What Are You Eating?
bullockes replied to lilymorg's topic in Food and Nutrition
I'm glad this was mentioned. I'm 3 weeks post op and I can eat just about everything. I definitely feel the restriction though. For breakfast I have either 1/2 cup cottage cheese with 1/4 c blueberries or a slice of toast with 1 TB peanut butter. Snack I have white bean chicken chili soup, 1 cup. Lunch spaghetti with meat sauce, 3/4 c. Snack Chobani yogurt. Dinner 3oz pork tenderloin, 1/4 c mixed veg, 1/4 c mashed potates. I don't drink during meals, but try to get at least 32 oz fluid in during the day. I'm working on getting in the habit of drinking more fluid. I've lost 20 lb since surgery. I'm not wanting to lose huge amounts of weight though. I am wanting to lose between 2-4 lb/wk. Good luck to you and keep up the great work! -
I Have Been Horrified By The Chewable Vitamin Samples
bullockes replied to CowgirlJane's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
My doctor gave me a whole bunch of samples and I found that I liked the bariatric FUSION brand. I bought chewable Iron tables in mixed berry flavor and the MV in orange cream flavor. Both are very good. I did try the liquid MV from Costco and I didn't throw up, but found I couldn't stomach the idea of drinking it (even added to food). You might want to see if your dr. has any samples to try? Hope this helps and good luck! -
Skin Creams Good For Tightening Skin?

Check out a product called ageLOC. A friend of mine recommended it to me, though she hasn't had any bariatric surgery, she says she can tell a difference.
