Alvarez, Garcia, Kelly Or Aceves?
Karen B45 replied to windycitymom's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Well you know, it's been an interesting experience. I originally was scheduled with Kelly, than ALM told me they weren't booking him anymore and suggested I switch to Garcia. Then someone here didn't like the hospital he used, and I found out I could still book Kelly, just had to do so directly, so made contact with him and switched back. I am happy I did. My surgery is this THURSDAY! I can't believe it's almost here! We fly to San Diego on Wednesday. -
One Item You Wish You Would Have Had...
Karen B45 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know this has been posted before but I wanted to ask again...what's the one thing you wish you had in the hospital when you had your sleeve done that you did not take? I am having my surgery in Mexico Thursday and I want to be as prepared as possible. Also I am thinking no jeans for a couple of weeks after, right? Your advice and sharing would be appreciated. -

I am sorry to hear there was such a rough start to your day but it sounds like you are doing great! I am so happy for you...right behind you.... -
There is myself and another poster who are also March 15th... Welcome sleeve sister!
-
I was actually trying but... Didn't go so well. My absolute must do shakes only starts tomorrow, though, so today is my last day of "real" food. I am so excited and nervous how about you?
-
I am so sorry I haven't been in touch. Things have been NUTS here at work and I just go home and collapse. I am doing pretty good, just trying to prepare myself mentally for the trip...I am so excited for you that it's tomorrow! Yay! I will definitely be thinking of you tomorrow and keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I know everything will go well, and I look forward to hearing about your experience!

I Have To Brag About My Dr. Garcia
Karen B45 replied to momofthree's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
You know how I look at it....you are with the driver when you leave the hospital and go to the hotel, and you don't have to leave the hotel grounds if you don't want. I agree with ShoeLover, there is crime everywhere, just use common sense and don't go in bad areas and you will be fine. But I do understand the concern. -
I started taking B12, it was on the surgeon's list and I figure better safe than sorry....

My sister had the surgery in December, she was off work for two weeks. I am taking two weeks off also. We are both in our forties and about a hundred lbs overweight, but both have desk jobs. I do think it really depends on the person. My sister said she was fine to go back when she did but she certainly wouldn't have wanted to go back any sooner. I am fortunate in that my boss is understanding and I have told him I might work remotely for another week if I don't feel up to driving in (I live about fifty miles from my workplace).

My Last Weekend As A Full-Stomached Woman
Karen B45 replied to VACookey's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
next weekend is my last as well. My doctor only requires a three day liquid diet beforehand, but I bought some shakes today to try to start cutting back and getting used to eating so much less before the surgery. I have to admit, this weekend is my "food funeral". I have been eating all my favorite things, just b/c I know I won't have any of them for some time. I haven't done anything extreme, but just am trying to enjoy guilt free meals. Not that eating is ever really guilt free for me. -
Hi everyone! I am so glad that you guys joined me in the thread. I am excited and nervous about my surgery... but mostly excited. The surgeon I am seeing only requires a three day liquid diet, but today I bought some Protein shakes and am going to start cutting way back on Monday so I am prepared for next Sunday when everything pretty much stops. I also bought some lovely (eye roll) nightgowns at WalMart today for wearing at the hospital. You know, the fun kind your grandma used to wear that are like housecoats that snap up the front. I figure that will be the easiest as i won't have to deal with putting them on over my head. Well anyway, I am looking forward to getting to know you all better as we start off on this journey at basically the same time. Great things are ahead!

This is true. I just thought that was the perfect one for someone having surgery in Mexcio!

I was scheduled to have surgery with Dr. Kelly in Tijuana in March, and the Medical Tourism company called me today and told me they are no longer placing patients with him for surgery, and offered to have my surgery done by Dr. Garcia instead. I am wondering if anyone has had surgery with him or has any additional information on him? His credentials look fine but it's a little unnerving to have read a little bit about Dr. Kelly's troubles on the board yesterday, and then have this happen today where they change my surgeon. Any info would be appreciated, thanks.
