Hi Linda!! I am from San Francisco and had Dr. Alami as well!! He is fantastic, isn't he? I just had my 2 week follow up and saw Dr. Robert Li, since Dr. Alami was on vacation. I love the Kaiser people, they have been so supportive! I have lost 15 pounds, and am in a stall at the moment, but clothing is loosening up like crazy, so I know I am doing good! I was sleeved on 12/19/11 and had my post op check in today. Down 15 lbs! Advanced to stage 3 diet, and I was in heaven eating an egg and some deli turkey meat for lunch when I got home! It has kept me more full than the liquids. The hardest part is feeling really tired every afternoon, the best park is fitting into smaller clothes! I wish I was losing faster, but have to remind myself that I have undone 6 years of weight gain in 2.5 weeks!! Yay! Kimmie

My almost 5 year old calls my sleeve "mommie's 'little' tummy" and he says it has an owie... I like it...! Kimmie

We have had our tempurpedic for almost 5 years, and it is heaven!!! My back and hip issues are so much better sleeping in that bed. We also have a Keetsa bed at our weekend house. It is similar to tempurpedic but has some different ingredients in the foam. It was a bit less expensive and seems almost as good. You will not be sorry investing in a tempurpedic!!! Kimmie

I have the opposite... AF came the day after surgery in the hospital, was normal, and done and now the dang think is here again... Crazy hormones... Tomorrow I will be two weeks out... Boo AF. Kimmie

Not like I am a pro by any means... only 13 days out...It's tough to say... if you have smooth sailing and no complications, I would think you'd be fine. Can your surgeon recommend someone to call in the place you will be just in case you need it? My surgeon's office said to go to the ER if I had anything happen out of town, and gave me a number to have any doctor seeing me call the bariatric surgeon on call at MY hospital if i needed any treatment. Good luck, and take it really easy for that first month... Kimmie

I have 4. They were able to use the same areas as my lap gall bladder surgery, so no new scars... yay. The one off to the lower left must be the big one, with the big stitch to the muscles. it's the only one I feel anymore. Kimmie

I took a 150 mile car trip last Thursday and we stopped in the middle for a rest. I have a history of blood clots, and am on lovenox for 4 weeks after surgery, so I would add that getting up on the plane ride and staying hydrated are important. Have fun in Florida!! My mom is here from there right now! Feb is always a nice time to fly south with the snowbirds!! Hugs, Kimmie

I am with Kaiser SSF, and this is the diet I received when I went to my classes during the pre-op phase. I lost about 10 pounds on it before my surgery on 12/19/11. I did not have to do a liquid diet. Kimmie

I am 46, married for 10 years, and mom to an almost 5 year old boy, who is the most adorable thing on the planet (biased much?) but who I really am is an artist, and more specifically a photographer. I have had a studio doing weddings and portraits for 10 years in the SF Bay Area, and am about to re-invent a scaled down version of my business in our new house up in gold mine country. The studio is all set up, just have to get some people in it and in front of my camera!! It's daunting and exciting at the same time. I am developing workshops to teach in SF, and really love working on some fine art photography projects that I have finally given myself permission to do... I was born in New York, grew up and went to college in Florida, and moved to San Francisco when I was 28... I knew one person. Best thing I ever did. California is my HOME!

My doc also prescribes a PPI (protonix) so I haven't felt physically hungry since surgery (12/19). I was in the hospital until 12/21, and had my first bm the morning after I got home. I had some pumpkin puree mixed in with my sf cheesecake pudding, and I think that might have helped with the fiber... I had a couple of normal ones, and then some loose, but mostly normal since then... every day, or every other day. Ringing in the new year tonight with a shake and a smile (and my mom, son and wonderful hubby!) Kimmie

They gave us special wipes to use after a shower the day before, and then said no shower morning of, just additional wipes. It's funny how different everybody's path to the same procedure is... I love that sleevie guy... Kimmie

Thanks for asking this... I was just wondering about it too... two have fallen off, and the one in my belly button, and one other one are stuck tight... they said I could take them off after a week or so. Kimmie

i was sleeved on 12/19, and gained about 6.5 lbs according to my scale the day I came home from the hospital (3 days post-op).. a couple of days after that, it dropped like a rock! I am now down 16 lbs since the surgery! I am away from home for a few days, so it will keep me off the scale, and then I have my 2 week follow up on 1/6. Good luck, and it will come off pretty quickly! Kimmie
