Im Having second Thoughts
donewithdieting replied to fortricie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This is a big decision. Should be on board 100% before you go through with this surgery. If the info is that alarming I would do more research before taking the plunge. Good Luck. Your life will be changed forever after surgery.Linda -
We don't go out much. My hubby likes my cooking. But like TapSnap writes it is 3-4 meals. Great leftovers for work.

Did anyone receive a script for a "GI cocktail"?
donewithdieting replied to A_New_Lily's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
you are right with the spelling. The only time I've seen this given was for bad heartburn esp. from a "sliding" hiatel hernia. If you just have bad GERD you probably only need protonix or Prilosec. No fun with a numb mouth. Good Luck. -
Please explain to me the difference between mushy and pureed diet
donewithdieting replied to penman53's topic in Food and Nutrition
What I know working in a hospital Pureed goes into a blender and liquid added. Mushy is like consistency of mash potatoes. Tuna, mashed up turkey chili w/ shredded cheese melted (yum), egg salad mushed up. You still can recognize what kind of food it is in the mushy state. Those you have to eat a lot slower because they have to work there way to the stomach and beyond. Hope this helps Linda -
I saw one recipe on pinterest using the wraps with prego sauce, pepperoni, and cheese. They were excellent and fun to serve. Hubby liked them. Can really only eat 2 or 3 so it's a good treat. I baked them in my tabletop convection oven. Linda I also tried the one where you stuff into cupcake pan and make taco. That was good to. I would think kids would like these. We liked them.

Any sole providers here?
donewithdieting replied to Mrs.FullerRN's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I applaud you and your husband to want to raise your own children. I was a floor nurse at the time I had surgery I worked mostly nights in a small ICU. (now I'm a case manager). I worked every weekend at the time. Took off to Mexico Monday, surgery Tuesday back home Friday and then back to work the following Friday. No one was the wiser. No one at work knows to this day. I wore an surgical abdominal binder under my uniform to keep me held in tight, asked for help when moving any patients ect. Surgery in Mexico is about $5000.00 and worth every bit. I feel good, look great naked and in clothes. Keep doing research, there are ways to make it happen. Sometimes being a nurse we are our own worse enemies, because we know what "could" happen with procedures. Good Luck with what you choose to do. Linda Again way to go raising your own children. We did that 30 years ago would not have changed anything. -
Question for a vet
donewithdieting replied to artymama's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Where is the "Outer Banks" located? -
Sounds like you need some prevacid, omeprazole, protonix, or zantac. A PPI. Helps with the extra hydrochloric acid your new tummy is producing. Many only have to take for awhile, some forever. I only too for about 9 months. Everyone except the protonix you can buy over the counter. Fairly reasonable I would start with prevacid. Good Luck, feel better soon. Linda

How did you overcome your fears?
donewithdieting replied to extracat's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Why do you need a catheter. The surgery is not close to the that area. See if you can get out of that requirement. That should help ease some fears. -
Do you ever like food again or want to eat again?
donewithdieting replied to jp143's topic in Food and Nutrition
Please remember you are in the "GOLDEN" time with WLS. Your tummy is probably still swollen. Make sure you get your liquids and protein and you are good. Your food taste will come back, in the mean time you should be losing lots of fat, you can get to goal quicker by being on track. Its when people go off track and it takes awhile to get back. ( off track I'm meaning eating slider foods, drinking alcohol, eating white carbs ect.) Hope this makes sense. Good Luck Linda -
Who lost weight NO Carbs and who lost weight with out cutting out a ton of carbs?
donewithdieting replied to joliem6201's topic in Food and Nutrition
My tummy does not like bread, pasta, white rice anymore. I eat mainly low carb because I feel better all day. I feel lighter on my feet when I eat just protein and veggie for lunch. My fav is homemade sweet and sour chicken and cooked mixed veggies. Mix this together and the veggies taste like the chicken sauce. You don't even miss the carb when you eat this good. (yes there is sugar in the S&S chicken but I get so many servings the carbs are minimal).I'm not no-carb just low carb.I just made lasagna using zucchini for noodles even my hubby likes it. Good Luck with what ever works for you. -
I'm doing a dot check. I think I need more dots. They look cool.LOL

I eat a spoonful almost everyday. Keeps me satisfied. Good protein. Feels like I'm having a treat. Go for it. Linda

Caution about alcohol
donewithdieting replied to dustin551's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Dustin-- We need to "Sticky" your comment. I'm with you all the way with your thoughts. It's me--I quit drinking after 11 months of up to 2-1/2 bottles per night. I work where I see the devastation of chronic drinking. I was not going to be a statistic. My hubby and I are married over 30 years and I was not about to lose that. I work on my old food addiction but not with alcohol to numb the process. I'm just making better choices protein first, good veggies next, and very little carbs. This seems to work. Also started L-Glutamine for strong cravings, a 500-1000mg when they are strong really helps me. (it is and amino acid). Please heed Dustins advice sounds like "he's been there done that" Good Luck. -
Do Sleevers Absorb Alcohol Faster?
donewithdieting replied to JentryB2020's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I became an alcoholic after the sleeve. Started with wine occ. at 4 months out and by 11 months I was up to 2 1/2 bottles a day. One half box worth. Occ. got drunk ratherwise just loved the feeling drinking. Took a nap on the couch in the evening. I was a mess. Had enough stopped cold turkey Feb. 5th 2013. I occ. will take L-glutamine if I have cravings, works well. You can become a drunk quickly, never thought I would. -
To Dump Or Not To Dump
donewithdieting replied to bobaloo11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Even though i've only been sleeved I have dumped at least 1x that I remember. It was not pleasant., You get this blood rush, and it feels like the faucet is opened wide. Happened with a very sweet fruit tart. I really watch sugar ever since. -
its becoming real
donewithdieting replied to whlightning's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Kinda surprised you are going to get a catheter. The surgery is not even close to the parts that could get "nicked". Just wash well before surgery and you should be ok. It can be uncomfortable though. Good Luck -

Needing some cute summer clothes in size 16 and 18
donewithdieting replied to Tink22-sleeve's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I just love going to thrift stores. You can get a nice selection of clothes from work to casual. I try to go to the ones that support a cause like Birthline they usually have quality clothes. Great job. -
Help.. Good soft foods to eat?
donewithdieting replied to kooks3003's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
cottage cheese, soft scrambled eggs, pea soup, mashed potatoes, chicken noodle soup (minus the chicken ), pudding, jello, canned turkey chili. All that brings back memories. Good Luck. -
am I being naive? ?
donewithdieting replied to PhoenixTheDiva's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The only people that know are my hubby of 30 years and my NP at the clinic. I work in health care and know of the gossip and not so kind attitudes. So when I started losing weight and some one would ask I would just say "I'm eating less and moving more---and I hope the weight stays off this time." People are satisfied with that and no more questions, because I had gained and lost the same 30# 3x the year before. AND it really is the true answer. No need to add the surgery detail because it is only a tool not a wand of magic. Good Luck with what you choose to do/say. -
