Not Ready For Protein Shakes - What's A Newbie To Do?
carbgrl replied to phatdivabbw's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like grape frost. Taste's like a grape popsicle. I dont like the alpine punch. I would buy a couple individual bottles at GNC or vitamin shoppe first before buying a whole case. I bought some online that come in 8 oz bottles that come in six packs. They're the perfect size. -
Why Did You Choose The Sleeve?
carbgrl replied to pebbles99's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I chose the lapband in '09. Big mistake!!! I was just thinking a few minutes ago how many times my husband and I would go out to eat and when we were leaving I would have to get him to pull over so I could vomit. I vomited in sooo many public places. Aside from that joy, I couldn't eat most healthy foods like chicken, turkey, veggies, salad... The lapband was a ticking timebomb waiting to go off. I'm glad I have it out and have the sleeve now. I can eat without vomiting. The weightloss is a bonus!!! -
I've watched it too. Very good. I hope we can turn this epidemic around for our children and grandchildren's sake.

I lose about a lb a week. During the week it'll go up and down a lb then eventually done another lb. That's my pattern.

Me too!!! Congrats!

Let us know what the doctor says.

My doctor is Colleen Kennedy and she's wonderful. So much better than my band doctor.

Hey Beanie& Rosie's Mom. When I had the band, I couldnt eat salads, veggies, chicken or turkey & other foods except of course junk food. As many ppl who've had a revision say, the sleeve is everything the band was supposed to be. I never slime now. I've only vomited twice in over 3 mos. Both times I tried to eat re-heated meat and it was to dry. I know my sleeve cant tolerate it. So my fault. Lesson learned. I had a 36 bougie which I think it's slightly bigger than most but my doctor said its the size with least complications. I never had trouble drinking water or getting 4 oz of food in. I have no regrets. Ask me anything.

This is taking forEVER. Ugh! I'm losing about a pound a week. Yes, at least it's steady but, at this rate, it'll take me another 6 mos to get to goal. I'm walking at least an hour a day sometimes up to 2 and eating an average of 800 cals, very low carb. I'm thinking about going back to the liquid diet but it's so hard to stick to when you don't have to like fixing to go under the knife have to. Any suggestions?

You sat down too, didn't just parade around showing off the tag? ha, ha. That's awesome! I can't wait to wear my size 8 jeans. Congrats!!!!

You look fabulous! What a dramatic change with just 50 lbs. I hope I can see that kind of difference when I hit the 50 lb mark.

Congrats! That's awesome.

Things I Won't/don't Miss About The Band...
carbgrl replied to hrtgoeson's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I actually vomited at my desk. ON my desk because I didnt realize I was going to get sick. Thank God no one saw me. All of a sudden it was like the exorcist everywhere. -
I kept pretty good records from when I had the band in 2009. From the date of surgery to 1st mos I lost 8 lbs. 2nd mos I lost 4 lbs and 3rd mos 3 lbs. See my signature below for comparison. Keep in mind, I'm a slow loser, I have hypo thyroid and I was was a higher BMI when I got the band. So, to answer your question yes I'm losing faster with sleeve but best of all I'm doing it without throwing up & sliming every day like I did with the band.

What Foods Did You Like Before But Now You Dont?
carbgrl replied to kenbr14's topic in Food and Nutrition
Unfortunately, I still like to eat everything and everything still tastes delicious. I wish I would have lost my sweet tooth but it's still there. I try not to eat sweets or junk at all. Hopefully, I can incorporate them back into my diet on rare special occasions. -
I'm 3 mos post op and have only vomited two times. Both times it was re-heated / microwaved meat. It was to dry. When I had the lap band, I couldn't eat heated dry meat. So far, I think it's my only true mistake. Good luck.

I'm a revision and a slow loser. I think it's not coming off because as fast because you're closer to your goal. I say, follow your plan and keep exercising. It'll come off. It will just take time.
