Wow, It's Already Been A Year!
carbgrl replied to JanettRN's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks Janett. That is encouraging. especially for us newbies who have yet to have surgery. My band failed me too. I'm set for revision surgery on 02/0912 and I'm so scared I will have a panic attack or chicken out. Your post means more than you know. -
Thanks Siren, Which park? What days/ times do you exercise? Do you walk or some other exercise? You can send me a private msg if you'd rather not post it all. Hey Vance, Happy one month surgiversary! How are you feeling?
-
Sleeveme, I feel the same way. I'm very sensitive right now. This is a big decision and very difficult to make. I busted out crying at a restaurant talking about whether my husband would be going to the hospital with me or not. Ask your husband to try to understand and be gentle. If that doesn't work, at least you have us. We'll listen and understand completely !!!

I agree. A- maze-ing!!!! Post another pic so we can see how small your waist is behind those "fat pants". Congrats! What do you mean your sleeve is stubborn and cranky?

I was told I could get either monthly injections or sublingual OTC once a wk but it's a must for the rest of our lives.

Ever Wonder What You Will Look Like...
carbgrl replied to iegal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's cool!!! -
I started my liquid diet early too. My surgery set for 02/09/12. My doctor only requires me to do a 1 wk pre-op liquid diet but, I wanted to do 2wk because that's what I did before getting the lap band. Plus, I need to lose the weight I gained after the Fluid was taken out of my band. It sure is tempting though. I hear that voice saying welllll, the doctor said you only have to do a 1 wk pre-op diet. ... I hear shrimp and cheesecake calling my name. What do you think?

I haven't had surgery yet but, at my nutrition class they said that all meals should be 4 oz. They recommended 2oz of protein and 2 oz of veggies or fruit.

Newbie - 4 Years Post-Op Lap Band Considering Gastric Sleeve
carbgrl replied to tjveggie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm suppose to have a revision from bandto sleeve soon. I had similar problems witht the band. I hope it works for me!!! I'm looking forward to the redcued hunger. Even though I couldn't physically eat much with the band, I was always hungry. I miss being able to eat chicken, turkey, veggies and salad. All the healthy stuff. -
My 2 Months Post Op Progress :) 44 Lbs Lost Picture Included
carbgrl replied to Liliana Arleen's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Wow, that's grea!!!!. Those are good pictures. You can see such a big difference. I'm supposed to have surgery on 02/09/12. My starting weight is close to yours. I hope I can say I've lost 44 lbs in two months when I'm two months out. -
How many switched doctors after deciding to change from band to sleeve? I'm convinced the band failed me but, in some ways I feel resentment toward my doctor too. I think they should have warned me the about the possiblity of vomiting daily and possiblity multiple times a day. I knew vomiting was a possibility but not to this extent. He also told me with the band, I could eat everything only much smaller amounts. Thre are LOTS of foods I can't eat at all because I'll start to vomit. I know he's highly experienced but, he's definitely in it for the money. At least I'm familiar with him and his office is convinient to my home.

Traveling Post-Sleeve Is Different. What Do You Do?
carbgrl replied to Amanda 3.0's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Last time I traveled by plane, I packed a four pkg of EAS Advantage in my suitcase (not carry on). They're 110 cals ea with 17 g protein. They're small & handy. -
Rev, I'm so glad to hear your doctor recommended a low carb diet because that's what I'm doing (Atkings style). I haven't seen my doctor since she pulled the Fluid out so, I don't know if she'd be concerned. I don't want to continue gaining so, I'm doing Atkins type low carb this week then next week I'll do liquid Protein shake diet with my protein (Designer Whey) and the following week I'll do my doctor's Bariatric Advantage Protein Shake diet. She only requires one week pre-op liquid diet. My band doctor required two weeks so, I want to go ahead and do two just to be safe. I don't have to much trouble sticking to an Atkins type diet because I feel like I get to eat so much plus it'll help me cut out the carbs & sugar before I start the liquid diet. It helps me cut down the crazings.

The doctor unfilled my band to get me ready for surgery. I guess to give my stomach a break. I've gained 6 lbs in about a week and half. I still have about 3 weeks to surgery! I wish they'd give you diet pills to help until surgery. Any suggestions?

Sleeve Friendly Vitamins And Tasty Proteins
carbgrl replied to Mrs.Newme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like Designer Whey - Vanilla. I buy it at Vitamin Shoppe but, they sell at GNC and some grocery stores. I like the vanilla because I can have it straight, with cinamon (tastes like eggnog), frozen strawberries, or blueberries, coffee... The sky's the limit I haven't had surgery yet. I've drank them for years for weightloss/ working out. -
After sleeve surgery what types of food are forbidden? Before being banded, I asked the doctor what foods (or drinks) would be off limits. He said you can eat everything as before just in smaller quantities, which was a LIE! I know carbonated drinks are to be avoided. No strawberries or small seeds for a while - how long? What else?

Fatigue...when Does It End After Gastric Sleeve Surgery?
carbgrl replied to Lisa821's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Lisa, I haven't had sleeve surgery yet but, I was extremely tired after I got the band for several weeks and after one other "female" surgery. So, I know it's normal to have fatigue but, are you getting enough Protein? Any kind of surgery is a big deal. Take care of yourself. -
Congrats on getting your band out. I'm ready to get mine out too. I'm scheduled for a revision on 02/09/12. I'm so scared.

Good point. I'm adding "What? Are you my mother?" to the list.
