    Self Pay Patients

I had my consult on 01/04/12 and had surgery on 02/09/12. I could have scheduled it earlier (about 2wks) but, I wanted to give my job plenty of notice and get things organized before I had the surgery. Plus, I needed time to "wrap my head around it". I had to get the nerve up to have the surgery. I'm a big baby.

    I Am A Failure

I'm hungry and I wish I could eat regular food but, I'm to scared to cause damage to my sleeve. I don't want to risk any complications. Please don't put yourself at risk. We're worth it. It's only a couple of weeks.

    Men Versus Women

That may be true. Let's see what the other guys have to say. I don't think I really had a regret phase and I think I'm recovering very well and rather quickly. It's almost like, hmm, are you sure you took majority of my stomach out feeling? I'm sore but that's about it. We all have different pain tolerances. I'm sure you'll do fine. Welcome to the board.
  6. How long after your surgery did you know you no longer had hunger? I'm 9 days post op and have read on here that the acid reflux can mask as hunger. So, how or when did you know you no longer had hunger? Because I'm still hungry. Even though I'm not eating (drinking full liquids) more than I should, I'm still hungry. I hope it'll go away.

    Food Smells Different.

I'm 9 days out. I agree my sense of smell is sharper. food still smells good but I can smell it from far away. Cigarette smoke makes me want to gag more then it did before the surgery. Weird.
  8. Thanks Longer Life. I guess that's what I wanted to hear. I was a volume eater too and I am drinking full liquids all day long too. It's been kinda scary for me because I'm afraid I'll either stretch my sleeve or it won't work for me. I hope this will change when I start solid food.
  9. I had surgery on the 9th. I lost a pound on day 3 then nothing until day 8. I've always been a slow loser so, I wasn't surprised. I think it takes time for body to adjust.

    Please Explain To Me...

I didn't like plain water much before my sleeve. I drink water (before and after sleeve) with generic Crystal Light. I like the Walmart brand wild strawberry. I like it better than the Crystal Light brand flavors. I like kids chewable vitamins too. My doctor's office made me buy a huge bottle of Bariatric Advantage chewable vitamins. I can't stand it. I do like their cinnamon chewable calcium.
  11. Very interesting. I'm going to get a copy of my post op xrays. Maybe some day, I'll be able to compare mine. Thanks for sharing.

Welcome Slim! Sounds like you're off to a great start! Keep it up.
  13. I used to be really into Adkins Diet. I worked great but, of course, I gained it back whenever I stopped following it.
  14. I use Calorie Counter. It's an android phone app. I love it because I can use my phone to scan bar codes into my food diary. It also has a weight tracker. I love seeing the line on the graph going down, down, down!!!!
  15. When I had the band and had something stuck I used the papaya enzyme and pineapple juice. I didn't think either helped much. The best thing for something stuck is time.
  16. You're doing great. A visible difference.

    V8 Soups

The V8 soups are good during the post op liquid phase (strain the chunks). They're on the soup isle and come in cartons. I don't care much for the cream styple soups (mushroom, chicken...blah). I like the squash and SW corn.
  18. Congrats!!!! I'm 8 days post op and I was extremely scared and nervous! Welcome!

    "you Look Happier"

I can definitely relate. I always feel so miserable when I'm overweight and it affects other parts of your life, relationships, attitude, outlook... People who haven't lived it don't understand. When I'm losing weight and getting close to my goal (yo-yo-ing) there's a light inside me shining. Making everything else brighter. As someone else on here said, I want to sparkle!

One Week Out And Doing Great!

Congrats Kimmy! I had surgery on 9th too. You're doing great! I've only lost 4lbs since surgery. 3 of those were while I was in the hospital. I haven't lost anything in the last 5-6 days. I miss eating too.
  23. Congrats! Sounds like you're doing great and in great spirits. What sweet husband. Welcome aboard!
  24. I accidently swallowed a cough drop. Is there anything I should do? I would think making myself throw up would be more harmful to my stomach.
