I agree with eating earlier to help get your metabolism started. Could you stomach 1 scrambled egg in the morning?

Did You Have A "drain" Post-Op?
carbgrl replied to AngieG0410's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a drain too. I believe my doctor uses it on all of her patients. It's not a big deal. It is kinda gross but, it didn't hurt or anything. I also had the On-Q pain ball so I had all kinds of things hangin' out. -
I Think I'm Eating Too Much
carbgrl replied to KATEYEZ0208's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told to keep my meals to 4 oz. 2 oz of protein and 2 oz of veggies or fruit. I definitely think I can eat more with the slider foods (yogurt, applesauce...) -
Hi Corey and welcome to the losers bench. Have you been walking? They say the more you walk the more it will help with the gas. Someone else posted on here that having someone rub or pat your back while walking helps too.

Anyone From Chicago? Weight Loss Is Depressing.....
carbgrl replied to JaspersGirl's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I'm no where near Chicago but, I know exactly how you feel. I hope you find a buddie near you soon. Does the hospital or your surgeon have a support group? Maybe you could meet a buddie there. In the meantime, keep posting here. Good luck and you're not alone. -
Question Of The Day Thursday
carbgrl replied to Lilee84's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As I am working hard to make healthy choices I would have to say mine is best described as "Staying Alive". -
Feedyoureye, Yes it's 804 cals per serving if you make 6 servings but, I made 15 servings so, I figure each muffin size serving is about 250 cals. Just a guess tho.

1 Month Post Opp Today... Wth!
carbgrl replied to JustShaunda's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't feel bad. Tomorrow is my one month surgiversary and I've only lost 11 lbs since surgery. (10- pre-op diet). I've always been a slow loser. I know my body is resisting going into the 180's. I've been at 190 for several days. I totally believe the body has "set points" and has to adjust with stalls. I agree with the deli meat issue. I bet if you switch to soft fish (tilapia, salmon...) and/or shrimp you'll the scale moving again. Me, I think I'm going to try the HCG food plan (without the HCG) for today to shake things up! It's 2 apples, 4 oz meat & veggies for lunch & dinner. That's it. 500 cals. Good luck and keep us posted. -
I read somewhere you can also use a baby sippy cup to help get used to taking small drinks. Good luck.

Honestly What Can I Expect
carbgrl replied to time4menow's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm almost 4 weeks out. I was and still am sore especially on my lower left side under my ribcage. I didn't think the pain wasn't as bad as some others seemed to have experienced. I did have the On Q ball which I guess it makes a big difference. My soreness had gotten a lot better but, the day before yesterday I vomited for the first time since surgery so, I'm really sore now. It felt like something was ripping inside me. I guess I ate to much or to fast. Otherwise, I haven't had any problems with food or getting my liquids. I also have fatigue. It's not real bad but more like an overwhelming need to take naps during the day. I have been walking and so far I've worked up to 2 miles per day. Good luck with your surgery. -
That's awesome! Congrats.

Six Months Out - 85.4 Pounds Gone
carbgrl replied to Lissa's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Wow Lisa! That's amazing. Keep it us. What a great inspiration for us newbies! Thanks for sharing. -
I struggle with the same issues but, I would say get rid of all the junk food in the house. It's much easier to resist if it's not there. Ask your family to support you on this issue. Keep healthy Snacks around. cheeses, nuts, boiled eggs, sf popsicles... Keep your hands busy. This helped me alot when I quit smoking. I would make myself to wash dishes by hand if nothing else. There's no way you can smoke with wet hands. LOL Google a list of things to do instead of eating. Take a bath, read a book, take a walk, scrapbook, play cards.... Usually if you can get your mind off of it, the urges will usually pass. One more thing that helps me a lot is having a planned a high Protein afternoon snack so, I'm not starving when I get home before dinner. Good luck!

I believe most doctors want you walking as much as possible as soon as possible. They had me walking the halls in the hospital the same day as the surgery. I'm a little over 3 weeks out and walking 2 miles a day. I'm trying to workup to at least 3 miles per day. Usually no strenous exercise until 6-8 wks out.

Ask For A "q Ball" For Pain Pre-Surgery!
carbgrl replied to Writergirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had one (On Q ball). I didn't have much pain like some other people said they had. I didn't feel like I was hit by a train. I was sore but it was manageable. Between the On Q ball and the morphine for breakthrough pain, it wasn't bad at all. She said she also uses an anti-inflammatory (IV) that helps with the pain. My doctor took it out right before I was released along with the drain. There wasn't much left. I only took the pain medication at home once. It was so acidic tasting and I was having trouble with reflux I couldn't bare to take it. Again, the pain wasn't bad. I had some OTC liquid tylenol. Dr. Colleen Kennedy - Dallas, TX -
Is that really you? Wow! You look fabulous. Congrats on your success.

Body Wraps? Does It Really Tighten Your Loose Skin?
carbgrl replied to JaspersGirl's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I've done wraps several times (5-10) times a few years ago when I lost weight through dieting. I think it does help thigten the skin. I plan doing it again at least once a month this time around. I will do anything I can to avoid anymore surgery. I firmly believe it helps to shape the body the way it should be. If you don't go crazy eating junk food afterwards the effects do last. Someone else posted some other tips and tricks on here which includes dry brushing the skin. I've done that before too and I will start that again. -
New Feb Sleevers Any Regrets? Best And Worst Thing So Far
carbgrl replied to andi0120's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks. They didn't tell me to stay away from gassy veggies. They just said soft veggies where ok. Ugh. I'll be more careful. I'll stick to liquids for the rest of the day. -
New Feb Sleevers Any Regrets? Best And Worst Thing So Far
carbgrl replied to andi0120's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OMG! I just vomited for the first time since my sleeve. It was awful. I guess I ate to much or to fast or both. I had about 2 oz of salmon which went down fine. Then I had some cauliflower. I guess I ate to much cauliflower or maybe it wasn't cooked quite enough. I was burping, hiccuping and had a pain in my chest. I finally threw up. I'm 3 weeks out and it hurt like he%$. It felt like something was ripping in my lower left side. I had been doing fine. No problems whatsoever then this. I will eat much more slowly and carefully from now on. I hope I didn't do any damage. -
