You have to remember there is a difference between weight gain and FAT gain. Did you gain fat? Highly doubt it.(Generally accepted)
Consume 3' date='500 more calories than you burn, you gain 1 pound, burn 3,500 calories more than you consume, you lose a pound.
So ... in that period of time, do you think you consumed 7,000 more calories than you burned?
Yeah, didn't think so.[/quote']
Nope, I had about 575 calories yesterday total. Good to know the logistics, I'll stop freaking out now.

Hello all I just moved to Austin. I am struggling with working out. Any ideas? What part of Austin do you live in? I'm North, around Howard and I35.

I've been so sick all week with the flu, and have gained 2 lbs back of the 96 lbs I have lost! It's made me so depressed, I cried for a while last night. Has anyone else experienced this? Could it be Water weight, or simply lack of exercise while being confined to bed? Thoughts? Suggestions?

I absolutely love Planet Fitness. Most everyone you see there are normal people just like us, not big buff health nut types. I can bring guests for free, so let me know if you want to come along sometime!

Basically Austin' date=' I am in Round Rock, TX. 7 months out and doing great. It is so easy to eat out here, I agree. I don't know what I would do without tacos![/quote']I'm technically in Pflugerville! I work out at Planet Fitness on Round Rock...we should get together!!!

How's it going for you ladies? I'm not finding many people here in Austin who have had the surgery. Howie, it's pretty easy to eat healthy here, since Austinites are pretty health conscious.

I support you We're not obese for no reason, it's because we have made poor choices. Your sleeve is a tool, to restrict you from eating so much, not to help you make healthy choices. That is up to you on your own. How long ago were you sleeved? I was sleeved this March, and can't eat crackers, breads, rice, or pastas....it hurts. It is possible to stretch your sleeve, but don't freak out too much, you can still make this work. Try staying away from the "slider" foods, and see what happens.

I'm in North Austin and was sleeved 03/02/2012, and am down 81 lbs so far! Good luck to all you with upcoming surgeries, there's plenty of room for you here on the losers bench (now that my butt is smaller lol)!

No problem guys, good luck on your journey! Oh, one word of advice if you're a big baby when it comes to pain: Have your Dr. Here prescribe strong liquid pain meds to take with you. In my opinion they don't provide enough pain relief there, but I'm a big baby :-)

Since Texas is soooo big, I thought it would be nice to find local people. So, where are my Austin, TX sleevers? I know you're out there :-)

I had my surgery with Dr. Almanza on March 2, 2012....and would do it again in a heartbeat. He did a great job on me, and everyone I met while I was there (we still keep in touch). I'm down 65lbs as of today, and still going strong. Oh, and people keep mentioning not to use him because your surgery is in a surgery center, and not a hospital, and you stay in a recovery house afterwards, but I've had some pretty major surgeries here in Texas, in a surgery center, and they send me home the same day....at least you have caretakers at the recovery house. Don't rule out Dr. Almanza based on things people say...you never know if it's other coordinators just playing dirty. Good luck on your journey :-)

My BMI was 41.1 to begin with. It's been a challenge to lose the weight, but the sleeve is an amazing tool of you treat it right.
I eat right, and exercise 4-5 days a week, and log all of my food into myfitnesspal...it really helps. Good luck with it all.
Shannon H. What was your starting BMI, if you dont mind my asking? Also, was it easy to lose the weight? 57 lbs in 2 months is awesome. You are working that sleeve. Your post inspires me.

I went to Mexico for my surgery on March 2, of this year. I had a wonderful experience and wouldn't have changed a thing about it. I'm down 57 lbs now! Anyway, Mexico was my only option because my insurance wouldn't cover it....even though my BMI was considered morbidly obese. Good luck, and do a little research....you never know :-)

I have been experiencing the same thing, I was sleeved March 2. Good to know I'm not alone.

I've had to go back to full liquids a few times. Last week a had a bad run in with 2 pieces if sushi, and was on brothers the next few weeks. Do what's comfortable to you. Listen to your body, it knows best. Good luck!

Well, I can't help you with what works on scars. I haven't thought about hiding mine, I wear them with pride, knowing I'm winning the battle of the bulge.
I can however tell you that I tan once a week, and have been doing so, since about 4 weeks out, and it's just fine. Tanning may make your scars stand out more though, so be careful if you don't want your scars to be obvious. Good luck and best wishes!

I followed the same rules as Lissa, and was just fine.

I started simple cardio on a stationary bike. Now, I ride 11 miles in 30 minutes, 4 days a week. I've also added strength training....I was sleeved March 2nd.
