  1. I am 56 and 5'3". Prior to surgery I weighed 268 and wore size 24/26 and size 3X tops. I was sleeved on December 9, and today I weigh 232. My clothing size hasn't changed much, though. Certainly, the clothes I have are baggier than they were before, but I tend to carry most of my weight in my stomach, and that doesn't seem to have shrunk much at all (maybe I still have some swelling? I hope?). I do see changes in my face, arms, legs. I can't imagine I would ever get down to a size 8; I would be thrilled at a size 12.

    Post Surgery Complication

I was sleeved December 9, and I had the same thing--a hard knot behind and around one of my incisions. I called the surgeon, and he said it is a normal side effect of the suturing and that it would dissipate over time. That has been true for me--now at 4 weeks out, the knot has shrunk to the size of a marble and the pain has lessened considerably. At my post-op appointment this week, the surgeon examined that incision and said it was healing normally and would continue to improve. He did suggest a heating pad and light massage might help. You may still want to call the doctor, but from my experience, it does get better over time.
  3. Thank you, Amanda. This is very helpful!
  4. I, too, would love to hear some more on this topic. I'm 21/2 weeks post-op, and I've lost 20 lbs. so far, but I feel like I'm eating a bit too much. I read about how so many of you can eat only tiny amounts, and while it's true that I eat much, much less than before, I have progressed to soft foods (just this week), and I can certainly eat a whole egg or a cup of soup or 3 oz. of chopped meat. I'm following my doctor's instructions carefully, but I do feel I sometimes eat too much or could eat more than I do. I'm having no problems with swallowing foods or keeping them down. I am having some trouble with getting enough Protein in my diet, but that may change now that I can eat some meat. Thank you all for all of your help--your stories are inspirational, and you are full of good information.
