Gastric Sleeve Surgery Date Set.....low Bmi
Nancy Higgs replied to Texasgirl73's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I also was a low BMI 36.2 I had my surgery on Jan,10.2012 and its been awesome I just hit my 5 month mark and im down 52 lbs so far I needed to lose around 60-75 lbs thats where my primary Dr would like me to be.I started out weighing 207 on surgery day and im currenatly at 155 today.Ive hit alot of stalls about every 3 weeks for up to 21/2 weeks at a time. But thats ok just remember when you hit those stalls your losing inches ive lost a total of 39 inches started out wearing a size 16 now im in a size 8 Id be glad to stay right where im at.My Dr who did my surgery siad he'd be happy if I weigh between 140-160 he'd consider that a complete success.I love my sleeve and I too tried every diet out there to lose weight and gain ti all back and extra to go with it.I haven't had to many problems just some issues with my blood pressure meds nedding adjusted and my Dr thinks I will be able to go off them soon.So anyone considering this procedure do your research and go for it follw all the directions your surgeon tells you and you'll do great.Good luck to you all. -

Im also a lower BMI 36.7 and my surgery was on Jan,10. I started out at 209 and Im down 36lbs so far Ive had two stalls the first one lasted 18 days with nothing lost.Im on the second stall now for over a week. But the good side of things are the measurmants even when that scale doesn't move your losing the inches!!!! Ive lost over 20 1/2 inches total. So Im HAPPY !!!!!! We have to remember we all lose at differant rates.Hang in there ladies we will get there.!!!!!! -
Dizzy And Feeling Faint..... .
Nancy Higgs replied to windycitymom's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ive had the same thing happen to me.Im on blood pressure meds so my Dr has adjusted them down.He thinks I need to consume more calaries also. But it's hard to get alot in.I was sleeved on Jan,10 and ive lost 31 lbs so far even though I had a 21/2 week stall.Im very happy with my results.I also started this journey with a low BMI 37.6 weighed 209 so the lower our BMI is the slower we lose the weight. But for me Im happy with that alot less worry for the extra skin sagging.Im not much of an exerciser but I have taken up walking so Im walk 4-6 days a week 3 miles in a 40 min time frame and I have to say I love the walking.Keep up the good work and We all will get there !!!! -

Nancy Higgs replied to Kiki Von Moonshine's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had my surgery on Tues Jan,10 and they went through my navel also then 2 very small insisionsbelow my breast right above my navel they took out those staples on my 2nd day but I still have 6 staples in my navele which will come out on Wed on my 1st Dr apt no pain only gas.It was not bad at all coming outta recovery was tough Major pain and nasuea but they took care of that within minuetes.I had a Great experiance at the hospital.Got to come home thur and ive only had 2 doses of pain meds since I came home mostly for my lower back thats really bothering me trying to walk as much as possible also.So don't be afraid its not that bad and good luck to everyone. -
Sleeved On Tuesday 1/10/12
Nancy Higgs replied to plyman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im just getting home from my Tues,10th surgery.Im doing well also. The only pain I really felt was all the gas.I started walking 6 hours after surgery and I think it helped alot.Yesterday I had to go down to xray and drink this nasty tasting stuff so they could xray me to make sure there were no leaks.Passed with flying colors.Im home now sipping broth and happy to be home. You can't really get any sleep in the hospital. So Good Luck to everyone else. -

Low End Bmi To Qualify For Gastric Sleeve...don't Want To Lose Too Much?
Nancy Higgs replied to mommy794's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have gone through the hoops with my insurance company also my BMI is at 36.7 and I have high blood pressure, sleep apnea, bursittis in both hips, lower back issues, foot problems.I weigh 210 and im 5ft 4in and I can't beleive all the CRAP my insurance put me through.Ive been trying since Dec,9.2009 to get the surgery done. Then they decided I needed to be on a 6 month supervised diet with my Primary Dr with journeling and monthly weigh ins.Did all that as well.My surgeon sent in my claim in Sept,2011 and I was denied.I thuoght oh no so I and my Drs appealed it.Took awhile but on Nov,30 I won my appeal im scheduled for my surgery next week on Jan,10.2012 and its been a LONG journey but I was determined to win.Im like most of us if I could lose the weight I would but I could only get off a few pounds and gain it all back and another 10 or more to go with it.So hang in there and don't let your insurance Bully you into giving up.I also get questioned alot because of the lower BMI.Good luck you will get there. -
