"you Don't Need Gastric Sleeve Surgery" Is What Everyone Keeps Telling Me
lovelesson replied to CHELL's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I'm a cash payor and my surgeon is Dr. Alberto Aceves. I decided to have the surgery only 2 weeks ago after spending Thanksgiving vacation with someone who had gone from 300 lbs to 130 lbs with gastric bypass and has kept it off for several years. She was so encouraging. I had looked at bariatric surgery 10 years ago, but being the same weight, I was turned down. After Thanksgiving I started my research and I read so many good things about Alberto Aceves that I scheduled the surgery. He seems to attract attention based on his medical experience and skill without being flashy, or having third parties represent him, etc. Aceves seems to base his decisions on good medical sense and is a FACS. I was in a relationship with a surgeon way back when - the guy that actually did Sandra Day O'Connor breast cancer surgery, and he told me not to ever have a surgeon without those credentials. So the combination of good reports, member of FACS, working at a full fledged hospital, won me over. I looked at someone else for half the price and lots of testimonials on YouTube, but he just didn't have the credentials, the 3 day hospital stay, or the experience. So yes, it will be more expensive, but its my life and long term health at stake so I wanted the best. So I'm packing tomorrow .... and anxious to get on with it. Divina -
"you Don't Need Gastric Sleeve Surgery" Is What Everyone Keeps Telling Me

I wasn't "approved" nor do I have insurance; long story but insurance was going to cost $1500 a month. I can't get cheaper insurance because of my weight, currently at about 230 pounds. My normal weight up until about 15 years ago was 140 lbs. I hurt all over, was diagnosed with RA, then they backed away from that to something else - all I know is being overweight sucks and I'm tired of it. I'm ready to change. I little apprehensive, but ready to change. -
"you Don't Need Gastric Sleeve Surgery" Is What Everyone Keeps Telling Me

This is my first time to post here; thanks everyone for being so open and helping me sort out my own feelings about what I am about to do. I was working out with a personal trainer and he was angry I had made the decision. After losing and regaining 20 pounds three times this year I'd just had enough and knew I needed to do something different. He started to say that losing weight had to do with my character and that I needed to lose it his way to build my character. Well, then it was time for me to get angry. I said after 15 years of fighting it, it had nothing to do with my character; my character was just fine. And I fired him. I said if you aren't on my team then you are off it. Goodbye. I'm being sleeved on 12/15. Wish me luck. My goal is to lose 90 lbs.
