I Haven't Been Here In Awhile! Update!
MoonSiren replied to MoonSiren's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
December 6th 2011. -
I've lost more than 60 lbs and am a little over 4 months out. Now that I've taken up 30 minutes a day or more of exercise, the pounds are melting off faster. I lost 5 lbs since last week! The sleeve is such an awesome tool since it prevents me from overeating all the time like I did before. I can eat 4 oz of Protein and bit of veg and then I'm full like I ate a Thanksgiving meal. It has to be the best gift I have ever gotten and I'm the one who gave it to myself. (: I still feel like I'm fat and unattractive to men so am planning on starting the dating process when I get to onederland.

Rethinking Relationships, Careers And Life... Post Sleeve?!?

I'm doing the same job and think I'm getting treated better now that I've lost 60 lbs. -
Consumer Reports July 2010 Too High Metal In Some Protein Drinks
MoonSiren replied to suzcomptime's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Yes I've heard of vitamins having lethal levels too. It was on a 48 hours special one night and they said the FTC doesn't regulate supplements at all. Some of the labs that companies use are shady and might not test the products at all. -
To Tell Or Not To Tell?
MoonSiren replied to gettinthinner's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've told everyone too, even waiters at restaurants so they know why a fat girl isn't eating much. -
I'm 30 and my skin is stretching back slowly but surely. My stomach looks flat and my arms are thin except for a flap of hanging skin. It has gotten shorter, though.

Yes I'm going through a stall too. Just be patient!

Hormone Grehlin Also Responsible For Memory?
MoonSiren replied to betterthanbefore's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't had this happen. Other parts of your body secrete Grehlin so you still get it pumped to your brain. The stomach is the largest producer of it, however. You shouldn't put off this life-saving surgery if you are afraid you will lose your keys a little more often. -
What is it? A breadless sandwich maybe?

Because I don't enjoy eating anymore, I have noticed that shopping is what I keep craving. I now LOVE buying things online and keep checking slickdeals throughout the day. I also LOVE shopping in person because I can fit into smaller sizes at cool shops instead of being limited to plus size. I opened a Kohls credit card but been paying off the balance each month so I don't accumulate interest. Would it hurt my credit to close out my Avenue and Lane Bryant/Catherines cards? I can't stop myself half the time from wanting to buy something. I've never been like this before the surgery since I would turn to food in order to feel happiness. I feel guilty about how much money I'm spending on clothing and accessories. I guess it is better than buying food since I would spend $500 a month just on eating out and $100 on groceries before surgery. Have you found another addiction?

From One Addiction To Another
MoonSiren replied to MoonSiren's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone. I think I should tell my therapist about this next time I see her. I thought if I lost weight then my problems would be over but now I'm doing another destructive behavior. I rather save my money and pay off loans instead of spend it. I guess I always look for immediate satisfaction instead of holding out for long term. -
Tell Me What The Sleeve "pb" Is Like
MoonSiren replied to Wheetsin's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I hate it when food gets stuck with a passion. Last night I had a Bible Study group and for Snacks they had oreos with milk and Snyders mini pretzels. I did not have dinner before going so Stevie Sleeve was telling me he was hungry by growling and making me feel pain. Once the study was over, I ran over to eat some pretzels since the Oreos were too high calorie for me. I ate one and then another while talking to someone so was not paying attention to my food. I then dunked an Oreo in milk and ate it since everyone else was and I wanted to belong. Someone came up to me and started talking about how much weight I loss. I was trying to talk back but suddenly felt like a frog was jammed in my throat and thick foam began streaming into my mouth. I excused myself and ran to the bathroom to belch over the toilet. I was sure that people must have heard me outside so felt so embarassed and miserable. I just kept on burping but still felt a lump stuck. Then I tried to burp and I couldn't so a pressure started building until I wretched into the bowl. There wasn't any stomach acid since this food never went down there, just tasted like pretzels and Oreos with thick saliva foam. I had not had pretzels or Oreos since before my surgery so probably couldn't tolerate these dry carbs yet. I can't eat hard vegetables like carrots or cauliflower, which I used to love, without them getting stuck either. I always have to eat my meat with sauce to lower the chance it will get stuck. I don't enjoy eating anymore at all because eating makes me feel pain and misery half the time. -
I never see it in stores but will keep on the look out. I'm very interested in trying this since I used to love eating spaghetti with homemade sausage meatballs.

Getting Refocused With Eating/exercise
MoonSiren replied to kgremmy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Me too! I'm eating too many carbs I think but staying under 800 calories a day. Hard vegetables like carrots and califlower keep getting stuck so I choose to snack on fruit. What I'm doing now to offset the amount of carbs is walk every day at 20-30 minutes, take the stairs at work and to limit my time sitting to keep the energy going. -
Holy Freaking Calories Batman!

All McDonald's soft drinks have high fructose corn syrup in them too so I'd stay away. -
I Can Cross My Legs Under Tables And My Desk Now!
MoonSiren posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
This may sound stupid to be excited about but I can now cross my legs when sitting at tables and at my desk at work. My knee brushes the top of the table slightly when crossed. I went to crossing my legs under a table to not being able to cross them AT ALL!! What a great feeling!!! -
First Day Back To Work - Not Bad At All
MoonSiren commented on stogger's blog entry in Becoming the me I see through VSG
Yeah I would wait until you recover before moving on so you feel more confident when interviewing. -
Yes it is hard watching people eat huge meals when you can only eat a few spoonfuls of food. What I do is request an appetizer or kid's meal and wait until everyone else has their food before I will start eating. I eat very slowly so by the time I am done, most have cleaned their plates! That's great your family is being so supportive and trying to make you feel comfortable about eating so little. I've eaten with people who made me feel strange that I couldn't eat as much as them!

I Learned A Lesson Last Night!
MoonSiren replied to Paola's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I imagine that was painful because you ate bread with it. Next time, you could make a light lettuce wrap with the same filling if you need a snack. I can't eat any bread since I was told it would enlarge in my sleeve. -
Not A Rude Waiter, But A Rude Patron.
MoonSiren replied to minaleigh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Pay people like that no mind. I've had questions too from the waiter and those who I was eating with about how little I eat. I can't even eat a whole appetizer or kid's meal and always request a to go box so I can use it for another meal. -
That's great! Congrats on such an outstanding NSV!!!

My Sleeve Is Officially 3 Months Old 60 Lbs Down Today/ W Pictures
MoonSiren replied to Liliana Arleen's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
That's great! I'm almost to 3 months too, 1.5 weeks away. I hope I can get down all 60 by then too!! -
Same here! By keeping on the weight I knew I'd have issues down the line. I would still be 300 lbs or more right now if I didn't have the surgery.

Lost 30 Lbs On My Own. Should I Go Throu With Vsg?
MoonSiren replied to 1Bumblebee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I lost 100 lbs on my own over the course of 5 years and still had the surgery. It was really hard getting the weight off by myself. I kept going back to my old ways of overeating and not exercising.
