MeginNoLA and Lissa, Thanks for pointing out watching for the absence of hunger rather than feeling full. I had not figured that out. At 5 1/2 weeks I'm still figuring out what my sleeve can handle and how much. I keep Protein at around 3 ozs and then whatever else I can handle (veggies or low carb starch). My daughter makes fun of my saving little containers of only 3 bites, but I can't take one more bite! Besides, 3 bites is a lot for me!

I went through the same thing from about all of week 3 and half of week 4. I was hungry all the time. I was already on Prevacid for stomach acid. It wasn’t a craving like head hunger. Some other people were going through the same thing but we couldn’t get anyone to give a decent answer. All I can say is, for me, I ate when hungry (approved foods, like greek yogurt, pureed soup and beans). I never stuffed myself. I never ate too many calories (about 700-800 cals). Now that I am at 5 weeks and 3 days, the intense hunger has gone. I thought the hunger would NEVER go away. Maybe the progression of foods has helped with it.

Daily Sleeve Schedule
dominique replied to dominique's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
favordone, My doc has me taking 1 Multivitamin 2x a day, 1 calcium 2x a day, B-12 at lunch, and Iron at bedtime on an empty stomach. My multi has B-1, B-2, B-6 and B-12. Sorry, I don't take a separate B-complex. -
Can I just tell you all how sick I am of focusing on eating all day long!! I wake up and my first thought is “I’ve got to take my meds and supplements”. Then I have a protein shake in the car on the way to work. Then I have to wait to drink. Don’t forget to put fiber in the fluids for an easier bowel movement. Then I drink my fluids, but watch out, I have to stop drinking ½ an hour before my mid-morning snack. And be sure to include protein with that. Oh, now to wait ½ an hour before I can start my fluids. Oops! Forgot my calcium. Hurry and take that because you have to take it with food to absorb better. Ok. Now I can drink. Don’t forget fiber. Don’t forget to sip, don’t forget to sip, don’t forget to sip. But be sure to stop ½ hour before lunch. And make sure it includes protein. And don’t forget to take your vitamins and sublingual B-12. Ok, wait ½ an hour to drink. Ok now drink, but stop ½ an hour before mid-afternoon snack. Don’t forget fiber. Don’t forget to sip, don’t forget to sip, don’t forget to sip. Ok, have a snack. Oh, and don’t forget the calcium. Ok. Now wait ½ an hour to drink. Ok, drink, drink, drink. Have I had 32 ounces? Yes. Good. Ok, now go home. Then spend all night concentrating on food and liquids while trying to take care of the household! And don’t forget the iron before bed. My entire day is nothing but thinking of eating and drinking! And forget weekends. Weekends don’t have a set schedule. So getting all my fluids, food and supplements accomplished is even worse. I mean seriously, my whole life is scheduled around this. I feel like a junkie or something trying to get my “fixes” all day long. And it’s not like I can just do something else. I’m forced to take care of myself in this manner. Yes, I knew this going in, but reality is different from how you think something will happen. I carry a case of water and protein shakes in my car, and protein bars in my purse. You’d think I was preparing for a disaster. I am 5 weeks and 3 days out. Does this ever get better? How do you guys manage your daily schedule?

favordone, I use Nature's Bounty sublingual B-12 that I got from Amazon. It is cherry flavored. It dissolves easily under the tounge and tastes great! Yay! I can drink after my shake! That gives me more time. -

It's ok to laugh. This is driving me nuts! Glad I'm not the only one! -
I just wanted to thank you all for being here. I was sleeved 12-19-11. Because of your posts, I can gauge where I am in my recovery and I'm doing well. I am in a stall and have been for 24 days. I've read that it can last a month. I did lose 1" in my waist. So I just have to be patient. You guys are the best!

I am almost 3 weeks out. The scale has not moved for 9 days. I'm trying to be patient and trust what I read here.

Almost 5 Weeks Post-op And I'm Starving!
dominique replied to Sunshine62103's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved 12/19 and have the same problem. I am on Prevacid and know what acid reflux feels like. AND it is not head hunger. I do eat when I'm hungry, but can only eat so much. When I do eat it is uncomfortable. I never feel "satisfied", only that my sleeve is full. I burp and burp and burp and burp no matter how much or little I eat. I eat protein, like beans and tofu. Is this just an adjustment period? How long before my sleeve feels satiated and not just filled with food? If this is what babies go through when they learn to eat no wonder they cry all the time! -
You look awesome! What an inspiration!

I was sleeved on 12-19-11. I've been able to get in my 3 protein drinks, at least 64 oz. of liquids and my supplements from day 3. I'm on my 17th day post-op. I still drink 3 protein drinks a day. I've added some mushies, like oatmeal, bananas, yogurt, baby food, peanut butter, and pureed split pea soup. The problem is, since I added mushies, I'm ALWAYS hungry! No, I don't drink and eat. What can I do to feel satiated? Or is this just my body adjusting to another change (adding mushies)?

You may not be able to get your husband to come around. He fact that he is sabatoging you shows his fear of losing you. Which means you'll have to reach inside of you and pull out something that will make you put forth more effort to handle this. You'll have to reassure him more. I know, going through this surgery is hard enough without having this thrown at you. It isn't fair. One thing you can do is change your child's snacks as was suggested. Then break things down and figure out what you can control, what you have power over. It's your body.

Also, I've been on 30 mg. of Prevacid (Lansoprzole) since my first day of surgery.

How Long Do The 3rd Week Stalls Usually Last?
dominique replied to wantobeskinny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my first stall (5 days) starting the 11th day following surgery. I had been only eating 700-800 calories a day for 4 weeks by that time. I was able to get in all my protein, liquids and supplements. So I did what the article on DS Facts suggested. I had a high calorie diet one day to trick my metabolism. Since I couln't each much at a time due to my small stomach, I got a small bag of Fritos and a small bag of chips. I chewed completely and ate slowly. I spent the day eating the 2 bags as well as getting in all my protein and liquids. This morning (2 days later) a 2 pound loss showed up. I can't wait to see what will happen tomorrow. I am going to add more sensible calories so that I don't go into starvation mode again. -
