I don't have to LIE anymore!

Great post! And congratulations! When I moved to WA, I decided to be more "honest" and only fudged my weight by 50lbs (300) the lady at the counter said "oh honey, no one ever tells the truth on their DL, we'll put 250". When I got under the 300 mark I was thrilled to weigh less than my DL, then I looked at it and remembered that the lady "adjusted" it for me. She got 50lbs worth of cursing for my missed NSV :-). Happy to say I have now surpassed that number by 10lbs and can officially say I weigh less than my DL claims!!! Yay!
  2. You look fantastic! And I bet you feel great too! What an amazing transformation, you should be so proud of this huge accomplishment! Definitely an inspiration to us all! Thank you for taking such great pics along the way and sharing with us! Love your faithful companion too, makes me miss my kitties! Cheers to you and your continued success!

    Dry skin

Me too. I have spots of very dry skin on my arms that are all red and scaly. Even the Cera Ve doesn't seem to help. More fluid makes sense, it's just sooo hard :-)

    unflavored protein

I have the unjury unflavored and don't like it at all. I've kinda given up on all protein powders. When I need to add some protein I use the Fage 0% plain yogurt, it's 20g of protein, tastes very bitter by itself but tasted great in smoothies with frozen strawberries, sweetener and a splash of milk :-)
  5. Thrilled with my VSG progress! I need to start working a little harder (maximizing protein intake, vitamins and exercise) but I am getting there faster than I ever thought I would. Prior to surgery October 2, 2012, I was wearing size 30/32 shirts, 28 pants now 18/20 shirts and 22 pants. Still a long way to go but I am feeling better than ever! VSG Progress for VSTalk.jpg.bmp
  6. Wow! You are doing fantastic too! Congrats!
  7. I was thrilled when I got the ok to move onto soft foods earlier this week and for the most part things are going down well but I do experience some discomfort. Will eating ever feel "normal" again?

    When Did You Eat Pizza?

I'm six weeks out and have had pizza several times. I try to not eat all of the crust or get thin crust but it goes down fine. I am lucky though, can tolerate most anything ... Enjoy!

    Flying After Surgery...

I traveled for business 3 weeks post-op. my surgeon just recommended to make sure I was moving/flexing my legs every once in a while to avoid blood clots. Biggest obstacles were probably figuring out how to bring Protein drinks and still carry on baggage (I just brought powder instead of pre-mix), lifting my suitcase into the overhead bin and holding my juice for the entire flight since the tray table won't go down all the way (still do big but the seatbelt fit!) and i was sip sip sipping :-) Congrats on your surgery date, you'll do great!
  10. I was sleeved 10/2 and am down about 28 pounds post-op plus 10 pre-op and 10 on the 6 mo. supervised diet. My old clothes are starting to look ridiculous - I LOVE IT! NSV a couple weeks ago when for the first time in many years I didn't have to ask for a seat belt extender on the airplane! So proud of all of you fellow Octosleevers!
  11. Woohoo! Pretzel + cream cheese = high Protein snack! As long as it's eaten in moderation (100 calorie snack) I guess I don't see what the problem is if you're released for all types of food. Chew well, take small bites and stop when satisfied. It's a lifestyle change, not a diet.

    Cheesy Experience

I eat melted cheese almost every day. It's a good source of protein just have to watch the fat content. I am only 4 weeks out and it digests just fine.

    Is It Reflux?

I am three weeks out and just called my doc today about this very same thing. Feels like acid is shooting up my esophagus and I get really thick saliva. It affects me in the morning. My doc had me double up on my PPI dosage (one every 12 hours). We'll see how it goes. I've never had an issue with reflux so this was very unexpected. Good luck, hope you feel better.

    Coffee

I think the caffeine restriction is due to dehydration. I have been drinking decaf (kcups at that!). No need to say goodbye to Keurig :-)

    Newbie Needing Some Advice...

My plan was 2 days clear liquids, 7days full liquids, 7 days puréed, 14 days soft. So I was basically 16 days out when I started soft foods, I had a half a meatball and it was fine. All of the post-op diets vary but I think you are probably ok :-) I was going crazy just on 7 days of full liquids. Eating a variety of soups, mixing in sour cream on occasion for flavor and different protein drink flavors seemed to all help a lot. Good luck!

Thank you SO much! I have to keep reminding myself I am only 17 days out :-)

    Sleeve Experiences - Negative?

I'm barely post-op (12 days) but it has been smooth sailing for me so far. My starting BMI was 55 and I'm 34 years old with two children (3 and 16mos). I was/am aware of complications and was/am terrified that I could be that 1 percent. However, I could also have complications with the potential quadruple bypass or other life-saving surgery I would eventually have had to endure if I didn't change my ways. For me, it was worth the risk... no looking back now. Only you know what's right for you. Good luck to you whatever you choose.

    Puree Stage Help

I'm making this tonight from www.theworldaccordingtoeggface.com. I'll let you know how it tastes! Shelly's Baked Ricotta 8 oz of Ricotta cheese 1/2 cup grated Parmesan 1 large Egg, beaten 1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning salt & pepper to taste 1/2 cup Marinara Sauce 1/2 cup shredded Mozzarella Cheese Mix ricotta cheese, parmesan, beaten egg, seasonings together and place in a oven proof dish. Pour marinara on top and top with mozzarella cheese. Bake it in the oven @ 450 for about 20-25 minutes (best) or nuke it till hot and bubbly. I usually made it first in the oven and heated the leftovers in the microwave.
  20. Just wanted to offer up an update for those of you pre-sleevers (and post-ops looking for comparison). I know I really value the "what to expect" posts. I was sleeved 10/2 and feel great! Down 18 pounds and no pain since day 3. Started puréed foods today and indulged in Cream of Wheat, cottage cheese, mashed potatoes and chicken (not all at once!). All went down very well but I was also very aware of how my stomach was reacting. dinner was about a quarter cup of mashed potatoes and maybe an ounce of chicken (ground up in the magic bullet). I'm still pretty gassy 2-hours later but overall feel really good! Also went back to work today on a modified (half days) schedule. It's not a physical job but requires lots of brain work. I held out OK and easily could have stayed a couple more hours! Still came home and napped though - have to enjoy it while I can :-) Enjoying reading everyone's posts, thanks for all the support!
  21. Down 18 pounds since surgery 10/2. Yahoooo! :-)

    Subdermal Incision Site Knots

My incision sites are the same. I think it's totally normal. Besides the incisions I have some severe bruising and pressure marks so I think maybe they used some kind of clamps too which might be contributing to the knot under the skin. Thinking it's just all how our body deals with trauma. I've had two c-sections as well. This is a cake walk (AND I get to sleep after this surgery)! I am so thankful my surgery and recovery is going so well and do proud of all my fellow Octosleevers.
