I'm Sleeved And I Have Some Questions

Lucky Lady, Yes, PPI, proton pump inhibitors. Before surgery I took omeprazole (prilosec) but after surgery my Dr put me on famotidine. I am assuming only because the famotidine is a small tablet and the omeprazole is a larger capsule. Maybe try famotidine? Definitely contact your doctor to see what they want you to take.

Wow - How Fat I Am

Good for you to turn it into a motivator! It just shows how much its all about perspective. As someone who just had surgery with a BMI well over 50, the thought of people with BMI's barely over 30 fighting for surgery is alarming. I would consider myself 'skinny' if my BMI was in the 30's! It makes me pause and realize that I need to evaluate what I consider weight loss success and specifically what goals do I want to make for myself. Seeing a size 18 again is definitely one of them. Don't forget where you have come from and even though you now feel there is more weight to loose, remember that what you have done so far has been great and you will continue to do more!

I'm Sleeved And I Have Some Questions

I started having reflux day one after surgery when the Dr started Toradol in my IV. I was only allowed one ounce of water/ice an hour at the time so I know it was not that! The nurse had to look up the side effects before she believed me. Needless to say I have had terrible reflux since. I am taking a PPI and just starting yesterday have noticed when I need to take a new one by what time it is rather than the acid in the back of my throat. It now makes me realize that it may be correlated to me introducing herbal tea rather than water. I find the warmth goes down so much better! Even warm water if I did not want tea.. The weather is conductive to warm beverages, thankfully. It makes sense that drinking something warm is easier for the body to handle since it is closer to body temperature and warmer is always less shocking to the healing system than cold. It may also be why I no longer favor those Protein drinks I used pre-surgery...

    I am the only one??

I"m so glad to see that there are so many others who are anti-artificial sweetener! I am 6 days out now and for a while have been trying to 'do' splenda and stevia. I have mostly been using Agave since it has a low glycemic index and I feel that is the best for me right now. Sometimes I use a very small amount of agave and augment the sweetness with stevia. I hate those chemically aftertastes and using natural sweetener tends to help that.
  5. I am 5 days post-op and also am not into the protein drinks. Today I made a Tuna melt for lunch. I also had blended lunch meat ham and cottage cheese. I just made sweet potato soup to eat for tomorrow. I have been using cottage cheese and greek yogurt as my protein source and adding unsweetened soy milk to thin things. Its been great! Also in the works for tomorrow is some thanksgiving soup with stuffing & turkey lunch meat. Be creative, you can have meat if you want!
