When Did You Return To Work?
Joni replied to sleevemeup's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know some people have gone back in as little as 3 days. I was going to take 2 wks off but I was so incredibly tired that I took 4 wks. I go back tomorrow. I work from home too!! I suppose I could have gone back a week ago, but I'm glad I took this time to give myself the rest and get used to the way I'm eating now. Good luck! -
jailynn - what does a typical food day look like for you??

Protein How Do You Get It In
Joni replied to Anewlifeforme23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Since when I eat, I can only get in 3 or 4 bites before I'm full, I really cannot count much protein from food yet. The only answer I know is the protein drink. First thing when I wake up, I make a protein drink so I know I have the right start to my day. Then in an hour or two, I have my 3 or 4 bites of food. Afternoon, another protein drink. Couple hours later, 3 or 4 bites.... and then later another food thing and if I can add all the food I've eaten up to 20 gms of protein, I'm good for the day. If not, I have another 4 oz or 8 oz protein drink. And all day long I'm sipping to get the fluid in. I'm 4 wks postop tomorrow. -

Oh and my fiirst post is wrong. I meant it IS sold in Canada and not in the States.

They didn't even let me get up and walk the first day, unlike so many others who are up and walking in a couple hours. I think that's the worry with blood clots. Also, they usually have "compression stockings" on your legs to prevent clots also. No, I never even gave them a thought. Don't worry!! You'll be fine but I totally understand. The Iso Breeze is a whey isolate protein that has good reviews. Google it and you can read about it. It's really hard to find a protein powder that you can like, and tastes can change after surgery, so I wouldn't stock up on too much before surgery. What you like now, you may hate after!

Surgery 4/23 - total of 23 pounds with 2-wk preop diet. Have been at 190 for a week and a half.

NSV = non-sleeve victory. Whatever that means. dogmom- where did you get cheese filled meatballs? I started out walking 1 block, and I'm up to 5 blocks (haven't calculated distance). Usually once a day. Sheila - I've lost 23 pounds total with preop, and my surgeon thought it was great.

Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?
Joni replied to JimmyGotSLEEVED's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I wanna lose too!!! wah wah wah! I've been 190 for a week and a half now. I'm almost 4 wks postop and have lost 23 pounds total with preop. I want to see the scale move!!! I think I'll stay off it for a week. -
Hey Kat, I'm almost 4 wks postop (on Monday). I know that stalls are quite frequent, especially at 3 wks postop. If you do a search, you will see a million of them!! Today's a better day for protein and fluid. I see you're in Ontario. I heard about Iso Breeze that's not sold in Canda but not the States. Have you heard of it?

Hi Kat! I'm doing pretty good! Having a little trouble getting much protein from food, so still have to rely on protein drinks which I'm sooo tired of. I measure out 1/4 to 1/3 cup, and after 3 or 4 bites - I'm full. A little frustrating especially since the scale is not moving either!! But - all is well. How are you doing?

Medicare Will Not Pay/support The Sleeve

Wow how disappointing for you. I'm so sorry I know the RNY is major, but the lap band has had sooo many failures and problems, and so many people regret it. I was going to go that route at first but after research decided against it. Good luck in whatever you decide to do. -
I too am a staller and slow loser. It's what it is. I'm staying off the scale more which is a good thing. I'm only in week 3 postop, but I've been the same weight for over a week. All I know is it IS going to come off - even if it takes forever and a day! Relax and just go with the journey.

Major Case Of The Blues.
Joni replied to louise aussie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with Pookey - maybe talking will help you to get the root of what's going on. You should not be attempting to handle this on your own or "waiting" until it goes away. Please, please, please TALK to somebody. The fact that you haven't slept in 3 days can be a major factor in worsening your depression too. I've battled this at times, and it's good you reached out here, but that's not enough. Get help for yourself right away so you can start to get back to who you wanna be! Good luck, and I send you a healing hug!! -
I agree notime. They tell us what's best, but who lives without bread? I know it's not a good source of protein and can fill the sleeve fast, but geez. I have had saltines and whole wheat bread, triscuits too; and have had no problem. Of course, it's not much, just 1/4 piece of bread or 1 saltine or triscuit. But it's enough to give some texture to the mush on it. I make sure to chew really well and slow.

Oh me too notime. Seems like I keep trying but I don't get close. I've been trying all kind of flavor packets to add to bottled water, and can't find any I really like. Just doing the best I can. I think I'm going to try making my own decaf ice tea with splenda and lemon and see if that works.

Thanks for the info! Sure wish I could make it there, sounds like a great idea.

Hey Lissa - I'd rather be scared than in the ER having an endoscopy!!!
