Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?
Joni replied to JimmyGotSLEEVED's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Fanny - try putting boneless, skinless chicken in a crockpot with gravy or soup, or other kind of sauce you like and cook it til it is falling apart. The moistness from the liquid will make all the difference I bet. -
newhope - I came home with a 10 lb weight gain and FREAKED! Over the first week it came off. Your's will too. You sound like you are doing exactly right with tiny sips every few minutes. I don't know your diet, but warm chicken broth sure felt good too. I also had a hard time sleeping on my back for a few days, I think it was the fourth day I used the headboard to get on my side and it was okay then. I loved my heating pad on my tummy too. Keep up the good work!

Oh, that reflux! I'm new to it, and now taking prilosec 40 mg am and pm. If I have something to eat to close to bedtime, I will wake up with burning pain. I keep TUMS on my nightstand for just that reason. And if the prilosec is not going to keep working, I'll ask to switch to something else. I'm 6 wks postop, so I hope time will make it better!! Good luck to you.

Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?
Joni replied to JimmyGotSLEEVED's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes, I actually tried regular chips, and they went down like nothing - very scary because I know I could have kept eating them and they didn't bother sleevie at all. Must be a "slider" for me! I haven't had fat free ice cream, but a couple bites of low fat ice cream, and that too was not a problem..... Maybe not the thing to tell you..... -

Joni replied to Delta_35's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good news! I bet you'll be glad to get home and get this behind you. Hopefully, there will be no need for anything further. -
Welcome Robbie! I'll be 57 in October. Not far behind you! I was sleeved on 4/23/12.

I Thought It Was Acid Reflux..now I Am In The Hospital :(

I so wish you weren't going through this - I will have you in my thoughts and prayers. Let's hope it can be fixed with the endoscopic procedure, and you can get back to healing the way you need to. Please keep us posted so we know how you're doing. -
Hi Robin - I'm not the person to ask about tickers because I have a heck of a time with them. Every site seems to be different with how they do it. I've actually just started over like it was a new ticker. Maybe post the question somewhere else or do a search of forums on ticker update. Hey, I think I might just do that too!! Sorry I can't be of more help, but CONGRATS on the weight loss!

Surgery 4/23 7:30a! Can't wait for the hours to go by. I may be 56, but I'm a YOUNG 56, and I'm ready to get out there and LIVE like I haven't in years now. I want to go hiking. I want to buy clothes and feel good in them. I want to feel confident with I'm out and about. I want to feel healthy and energized. I'm ready. No one knows how much time they have left, so whatever it is, I want to be my best! Wish me luck and say a prayer if you will. Thanks!

Doesn't it feel great to finally see the scale move? Yippeee!!

I have been tired too at 6 wks postop. I really have to push myself to do even simple things. For instance, went grocery shopping today, and it's a good thing my husband was with me. I got so tired I had to sit down while he checked out. I was exhausted and dragged myself to the car. For me, I think I need to start really exercising to build stamina. One thing, does your vitamin contain iron? It should.

14Pk Of Syntrax Nectar Samples For $14 (Free Shipping)
Joni replied to BenisaMartim4's topic in Food and Nutrition
Just fyi - at bjsbariatrics.com you can get the sample pack for 14.95 plus shipping - but the nice thing is you can choose what flavors you want. So after you try the sample pack you ordered (I did the same), and if you find a couple flavors you like, you can order them to have on hand for travel, etc. -
Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?
Joni replied to JimmyGotSLEEVED's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi - Sleeved 4/23. I've noticed just this last week that I can eat a little more than I was. Instead of a half or 1 oz of chicken or beef, I can now eat 2 or 3 oz. I will have that with maybe 2 or 3 TBSP of potato or veg (canned and very soft). No fresh fruit or salad yet - which I really want! Fluids - ugh. Like others, I have to force myself to get them in to reach goal. Definitely the hardest thing right now. -
Newhope - Sending positive thoughts and prayers your way. Good Luck. See you on the Loser's Bench!!!

Burning In My Throat?
Joni replied to smoor43832@live.com's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, yes, yes! I just went through this. It was waking me up and killing me!! I had been taking 20 mg of prilosec 2x/day. They had me double the dose to 40 mg 2x/day, and that solved the problem. I didn't have reflux before surgery, so I didn't know what the heck was going on. It was reflux. I was sleeved on 4/23. -
I did not have a drainage tube, only a catheter which was removed the day after surgery.

Your new life awaits!! Good luck and congrats on your decision!

Hi kweenbee! Surgery was a breeze. Postop journey has been a roller coaster ride! Full of ups and downs. Feeling good, bad, and in between. Tolerating protein powder and then not, then okay again. It will be 6 wks tomorrow, and right now I'm on the upswing. After dealing with reflux, and finding the right med and dose, I'm able to eat and drink just fine. Have you had surgery yet? I have no regrets, and am truly glad I've done this. Thanks for asking!

Hi Vicki - I will be 6 wks postop tomorrow. I too stalled around wk 3. I lost 1 pound in 3 wks. Very discouraging. Then this week, I got on the scale and lost another pound. The next day, 1 more. Everyone is different. I want to see loss every day! As a matter of fact, It would be nice to weigh in the morning and night and see loss both times lol......Hang in there. I call this a real roller coaster ride!

I'm 6 wks postop tomorrow, and I am the same way. I'm anxious to hear what others will say and what guidelines they use. Thanks for posting this.

I didn't have reflux before sleeve, but do now. I am almost 6 wks postop. I was taking 20 mg of prilosec 2x/day as a precaution. About 2 wks ago, I felt I had a lump in my throat, it hurt to eat or drink. I woke up in the night coughing with bitter taste and pain. I had to sit up. I was sure something serious was wrong. They told me to double the prilosec to 40 mg 2x/day which I did, and within a couple days, I was feeling better. If it comes back, I'll be looking for a second drug or a switch. I don't wish that on anyone!

Great stories Kellie - love it!! I don't blame you for picking and choosing who you tell. I did the same. Also, I didn't see one of my sisters from preop until about a week ago, and she started to CRY when she saw me. She said your face is sooo different, and your butt is so much smaller, and your gut is gone! Yeesh - it was only 20 some pounds!! But it made me feel great!!

Thanks so much for posting. I'm definitely going to check these out.
