To those being sleeved on 4/23/12 - do you want to have a group? I looked at starting one, and it said to find 2 or 3 people that want to join before you start it. I figured that might be an easy way to keep track of each other on our journey. What do you think? Anyone interested?

I'm having surgery at U of M on Monday 4/23, Dr. Varban. YEP THAT'S THIS COMING MONDAY -YIPPPEEEEEE!!! I also work for them, although I work from home. My husband had his sleeve at the U last year with Dr. Dimick. Anyway, I love the U and think highly of them. Great group of professionals in the Bariatric Department. You'll be in good hands MrKraid. Any questions, etc., just ask me. You can also private message me and I'll be happy to answer whatever I can. Good luck!

Received My Unjury Unflavored (Suggestions) And Bariatric Fusion Vitamins

I know that the vanilla tastes great in orange crystal light. Unjury will exchange it for you - maybe if you had some flavor that might help? -

Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?
Joni replied to JimmyGotSLEEVED's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Posted 3 weeks ago There are instructions posted in the Suggestions Forum (same as this topic) - the topic is: Ticker Tutorial for VST & LBT - with pictures -
You made me laugh! Oh, that's just great Lissa, now I have to worry about poopin my pants?? This is getting better....

What I'm wondering is all this gas we get postop that must come out while we walk, are we strolling down the hospital halls tooting away? And what about roommates - are we just letting those farts rip loud and clear? I guess if I have a choice between pain or letting it out, I'm all for sounding like Farty Franny.

Thanks Michele - Hanging in there after a meltdown this morning. Preop diet is kicking my butt - but I am becoming EMPOWERED. I'm so surprised at and proud of myself.

I Was All Ready To Go...now Scared And Confused.
Joni replied to DanityChai's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This is just my opinion and nothing to base it on other than an honest reaction when I read your post, I would stay here and have your US surgeon do it, especially when he's offering you the right price too. Good luck with whichever way you go. -
oh sister - I'm sleeving on 4/23 too and had a meltdown this morning - I totally understand.

Where Does The Surgeon Stats Information Come From?
Joni replied to MINI-Me's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
kinda on the same subject, can you or how do you add a surgeon? -
Surgery will be here on 4/23, so this is my 9th day of preop diet. It started as the others. I decided to do some self-care. Dyed my hair, pedicure, etc., took a shower. When I got out, my husband had made some bacon. That's all I could smell. I got weak (plus I was hot from my shower). I laid down and asked him to open the windows and doors to let the smell out which he quickly did, feeling bad. I suddenly felt like I was so very hungry. I laid down and yelled, "I LOVE BACON" and started to cry. Really cry - and I stuttered out, "I want some pizza!" In about 5 minutes, with husband and daughter reassuring me it's almost over, I was okay. I had an Unjury protein drink. Geez, I lost it there for a minute. I guess this might be what people mean when they say they get emotional?
-
Carol - Unjury is good and recommended by the University of Michigan Hospital as the best protein for preop - which is good enough for me! I do hate their chicken soup though, while others love it. I use the vanilla and chocolate splendor. I also find it keeps me more satisfied longer than other brands such as Syntrax Nectar (which tastes great to me). They say Unjury is the absorbed easily by our systems. It's not cheap though and you can't buy it in stores. It's no cheaper on amazon, so you might as well order from their website. 6.00 shipping, and 17 scoops in the container for 22.95. Hope this helps.

I've seen a lot of people going home the next day. I know they do plan on keeping me 2 nights, and if all is well, I get to go home in the morning after second night.

Lookin For The Simplest Answer =]
Joni replied to Sandra_Baby87's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Preop you should get about 100-110 grams of protein per day. There are different whey proteins - a concentrate I think and isolate. The best for you and in quality is Whey Isolate. It costs a little more. The Body Fortress at Walmart comes in both types - a whey concentrate that has only part isolate, but the isolate says it in big letters on the front. I highly suggest you make sure to get isolate. Good luck! -

Next Week Sleevers ? Or Anyone Whom Are Upcoming April Sleevers?
Joni replied to EnjoyingWhoIAmBecoming's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I ordered the chewable complete MVI from Celebrate in forest berry. They're expensive but I thought for the first month after surgery they would be important. They kind of just dissolve in your mouth. The dietitian just said to not get a gummy and do a chewable that says "complete." Flintstones makes one, but I don't like them.. Good luck everyone! -

Fanny - I know your guardian angel will have his wings wrapped around you for your entire trip and before and after surgery. God bless and you will be in my prayers. You will be running into strangers who will become friends on your adventure. Good luck to you with everything. I'll meet you on the loser's bench 4/23! -
First I thought the subject date was a typo, but then read your post - cool idea to get someone a year out on same date....anyway, I'm not that, but I am having surgery the same day as you 4/23! Yippeee - one more week to go. Are you excited? nervous? I'm all of it. Did you have to do a preop diet?
-
Hi Kelli - I'm on my 5th day. I agonized over it for a month before it was here. I'm not gonna lie, it's very hard, but I really thought it was going to be a whole lot worse than it actually is. I'm not hungry. and I thank God for that. I'll say a prayer for you. You can do this!
-
I agree 110%! She'll show them! Ignorance is awful.

Thanks jiggyjen! I appreciate the vote of confidence! You sound like you're doing fantastic! Keep up the good work. Nice to meet you here
