Joni replied to MyGastricSleeveLife's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi Michele - Nice to meet you! I was sleeved on 4/23 and also work from home as a medical transcriptionist. I'll be going back to work tomorrow. Good luck on your journey! -
Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?
Joni replied to JimmyGotSLEEVED's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
yes, surgeons sometimes differ which incision they remove the majority of stomach from, but that is usually where you are left with the most discomfort afterward. Sounds normal to me -
An Introduction (A Little Bit Late)
Joni replied to Paula Spurlock Butts's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Sounds like a success story!! Glad you're posting. -
I agree notime - my NUT is low fat this and fat free that. I'm thinking, heck if I'm eating a tiny bit, you had bet your booty I am using real mayo!! I totally agree.

Kellie - I'm so sorry about your kids' car accident. Traumatic brain injuries can be so frustrating. Is he still recovering function? Yesterday was the first day I couldn't get all that Fluid in and I think it was because I had some purees. I think notime is onto something. Maybe it has to do with putting food in our tummies too, so no room for more fluid. Try to make something you eat count as a fluid too. Soups that you puree would count too, Jello, yogurt. Good luck. I'm having some tomato juice for the first time since preop and it's just okay. I started my day with an unjury vanilla Protein Drink (8 oz), and this juice is another 8. I haven't had anything solid yet today. I might try a bit of scrambled egg. I'm also planning to have some chicken broth (more fluid). Can't wait til this phase is OVER guys!! I see my primary on Monday - but really for nothing. I don't see my surgeon until the 15th, which will be 3 weeks.

Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?

Can return to work when you feel able? I hope they are also giving you the time off as long as you feel? Sounds like you were one sick cat lady and shouldn't be going back to work until you have quite a bit more strength back. I'm so glad it sounds like you're pulling through this terrible ordeal. -
I too am almost 2 weeks out. I could really relate to all you said. I feel the same. Someone on this site told me - you will have all those foods again, just NOT NOW. I already kinda knew that, but it did help me feel better just to tell myself I was going to eat my favs again later. Also, I am starting to look into a gym membership. Maybe that's what we need to do. I hear those endorphins that are released during exercise can make us feel a whole lot better. Then of course, seeing the weight drop off is going to fill a gap too. I'll be interested to hear what others have to say also. Hang in there! Hugs.

I'm just sitting here thinking about vegetables (should I get my head examined?). When you go to a "regular" diet, what vegetables are easiest to digest? What did you start with? Was there a method you used to introduce others? Can you tolerate all? Are there veggies that some can never tolerate again? Just curious.....

I wonder if your weakness and heart rate might be dehydration? Are you getting in your fluids? -

I Think I've Began To Mourn Food :(
Joni replied to Anewlifeforme23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Absolutely, I totally understand what you're going through. I went out with hubby and suddenly really, really wanted a sandwich. 2 pieces of bread, meat, mayo, cheese, lettuce, tomato. I'm still on full liquids so that is totally out of question. I almost cried. Just remember, the weight is going to start falling off, making us feel better about it; and WE WILL be able to eat more in the future. I send you a sister in misery hug! -
and can you tell me how much protein is in a jar of baby food meat?
-
I was so curious, I just looked it up. There is protein in the yolk, just more in the white. The source I saw said 2.7 gm in yolk and 3.6 in white..... just fyi....
-
notime - I thought all the protein of an egg was in the white? You might want to check on that if you're only eating the yolk?

Where in Michigan? I had mine at University of Michigan on 4/23/12.

Today, My Life Begins Where It Left Off...
Joni replied to Mamamia59's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Amen! I relate so well also. I'm just glad I wasn't too late. I told myself all through my 40s, don't waste anymore time. I turned 50 - same old crap. I am now 56 and I was DETERMINED not to let ALL of my 50s slip through my fingers. Sleeved 4/23, and not one little teeny weeny regret. Thank you for your honesty. -

OMG I just came across you on this site and saw this post. How absolutely beautiful. I bet you never thought something like that would happen to you. God bless you! I was sleeved 4/23 and look forward to being thin and healthy. I also have 2 stepsons, whose mother died when they were 5 and 10, so they lived with us after that. I am so happy for you and what a romantic, heartwarming proposal. Made my day!

**please Help With Protein Question**
Joni replied to LTARLTON's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Me neither that's why I asked. So many people like the chicken unjury, and I just couldn't take it - mainly the foam and it also had a strange taste to me. I'm having a hard time with all the protein products now. I can still tolerate Unjury Vanilla (which I think is the best around). I like to mix it with orange crystal light or just milk too. Defnitely not cheap though. -
Oh dogmom - talk about bored!!! But first, that most have been pretty difficult sitting like that. My desk chair has adjusters so I can choose to have the back firm or go back when I push on it. Just being able to change your position more often might help a little. Could there be any way they could give you one like that temporarily to help you along? It is all getting so hard, Protein and fluids. I have resorted to some protein shots as talked about elsewhere. You can just do a search for those or let me know if you want more info on them. 2.5 ounces gives you 26-28 gm of protein. I have been able to do vanilla unjury and crystal light today. NUT told me to get some ready to drink singles and experiment, as well as adding nonfat dry milk to everything. Carnation instant Breakfast with 4 TBSP dry milk (haven't tried that yet). I got some Muscle Millk Light drinks but can't get myself to drink one yet. I pureed some bean Soup and added Water making it very thin, and got 9 gms that way. Yogurt still goes down okay but I'm so sick of it. Have you tried the Greek yogurts? Good luck. let me know how you're doing.
