aztecmaverick started following Gastric Sleeve Swelling, Alcohol After The Sleeve, Cigars After Gastric Sleeve Surgery? and and 3 others

I guess this doesn't NEED to be in the Men Room, but here it goes... My doc told me no alcohol until 6 months after surgery. Then I told him i am taking the bar exam in February (3 months after surgery)... He said "Go ahead and drink after the bar! also, feel free to have that cigar you keep bugging me about." Now when he says I can have alcohol... Does he mean just wine? Or, will I be able to have some scotch with that cigar? What is the reasoning behind the alcohol statement? Is it too harsh on the wound area? Does it cause too much acid production? Too many empty calories?

Cigars After Gastric Sleeve Surgery?
aztecmaverick replied to aztecmaverick's topic in The Guys’ Room
How soon after did you have your first one? My doc says it increases the chances of ulcers so no more, but Kaiser said it was ok... -
So, I used to do a cigar/month before the surgery... Does anyone smoke cigars after their sleeve??

Gastric Sleeve Swelling
aztecmaverick replied to aztecmaverick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At the advice from this board, i will be slowing down a bit... Fish seem to be a problem food, so I will try again down the road... Mashed potatoes are fine and some cheeses are fine... I have never really had acid reflux before this so it is a new feeling. What do you guys like for instant acid reflux relief (not time released)? THANKS! -
I have searched through the forums and could not find an easier answer to this, so sorry if this is a re-post... I am just over one week post-op and the doc moved me to the mashed potatoes and soft fish and scrambled eggs stage. I feel very minor pain or a pressure pushing back when I eat. Also, while the acid reflux isn't a major pain, it is an annoyance. I would imagine this is from the stomach still being swollen. So, when does the swelling subside? When will I "normalize"? THANKS!

4 Days Post Op. Trouble Getting In Liquids. Any Help?
aztecmaverick replied to scottiff's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 6 days out (like a day or two ahead of you) and have the same problem... It. Gets. Easier. Everyday. For me what helps is walking. I find that when I walk, drinking becomes easier. -
Sleeved On Monday... Lurking For A Year
aztecmaverick posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I was sleeved on Monday here in Southern California... Got several random questions... How long after until I can eat spicy again? When does it become easier to swallow? (I feel like there is a pressure pushing back and i can't tell if it's acid reflux or gas or swollen organs) How close can the stomach stretch back to its original size? What are your problem foods that you liked beforehand and now do not? When did you start sleeping on your stomach again? Any wound problems? Thanks for the info!!
