Medical Review Went Amazing, Except Irritated @ The Hubby!
Finding MeMe replied to Mzluvee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No help here with my what my dr recomended, he let me choose which surgery I wanted. So I did my research and choose the sleeve mainly because of the malabsorbtion issues. I read too many horror stories about the bypass and it scared the mess out of me. I can eat what I want with the sleeve only in small amounts so I can no longer be greedy if the food tastes too good. As for your hubby, I think it is a good thing for him to ask questions he may get healthy as you get healthy. Good luck to you. -
The question is how do you feel at that speed, is it challenging you? If not increase your incline to 2 3 5 7 or 10 for a few minutes at a time. Your heart, lungs and muscles will love inclines. I would also say as sassy above noted, change your routine up a bit. Walk outside do lunges when you walk, take a new exercise class like Zumba, spin or step-aerobics. Once you see what it does to your body, you will get addicted and can't go two days with out exercise. Good luck to you.

Remember that your weight will vary up to 5 lbs either way, up or down. This is due to fluid/water wt in the body so you could weigh in at 195 in the morning, go workout for 60 minutes return and step on the scale and weigh 200lbs. This is normal so don't let the scale stress you out. Put it away and weigh yourself once per week so you don't have to deal with the dissipointment often.
-
It will, I had to do the same finally grew tired of the scale dictating my mood for the day. I read one blog where someone asked her husband to hide it from her and bring it out once a week. Now that's a good idea.

LOL welcome to the forum, you post is very funny and it sounds like you are ready to join the loser's bench. I think it is not an easy decision to remove 80% of your tummy because you are so desperate to lose weiight. I think it is a hard decision and a serious one. Take care and looking forward to seeing the wt loss photos.

The Naysayers.....do It Naturally! How To Handle Them.
Finding MeMe replied to SensationallySassyT's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there, welcome to the forum. I made the decision after I gained almost 75lbs after I retired, As I turn 40 this wt started creeping up slowly and I just could't get it off no matter how many step aerobics and spin classes I took. I also ate small amounts but I could never get full and would end up consuming too many calories. I have been con constant diets my entire adult life froom 17 years old to 43 years old. I would say at least two crash diets per year because I was in the military and I had to starve myself twice per year to make weight. Upon retirement and my 45h birthday I was at 250lbs my highest wt ever, I took a look at a photo from my gym and I said it's time to do something drastic so I started researshing the gastric bypass. I ran into someone who was researching the sleeve and I did also, I liked what I read about the sleeve and got the surgery in Jan 2012. I am now down to 182lbs in 6 months and I could NEVER HAD DONE IT WITHOUT THE SLEEVE. I could not do this alone not even with all my military discipline, courage, blah, blah, blah. My best advice is to read and gather as much info as you can and prepare yourself mentally. It is an emotional experience, I have lost friends because of this surgery, they think I am better than they are after I lost the wt. My lifestyle is changed now and I can't be around all the food any more, they can't understand that. Thank God my husband supports me and he is the only friend I need. So get strength and knowledge because you will need it, Good luck to you and I wish you success and happiness. I know I found it with the sleeve and only wish I had the operation done earlier -

10 Months Into My Gastric Sleeve Surgery
Finding MeMe replied to MissShonnie's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I don't count carbs, calories, fats or sugars. I just exercise at least 5 days per week for at least 60 minutes. I also lift wts three days per week. I find that if I don't workout consistantly I won't lose wt and If I want to gain I just lighten up on working out and stop eating when full. I know that I should know my optimum levels for wt. loss but just adjusting my exercise level and time works for me.. -

Sleeve Vs Gastric Bybass
Finding MeMe replied to lovelyladynhouston's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No, my surgeon gave me the choice for surgery and it was my decision which one to have. I did my research between the bypass, rny and sleeve. After reading about the absorbtion issues, vit dificiencies, night blindness, etc with the bypass. I choose the sleeve, I can eat what I want only in small amounts. -
Will My Brain Ever Catch Up?
Finding MeMe replied to iwannabslim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You'll get used to the small amounts after you find yourself throwing too much away and your tummy stops you. It is amazing how little food the body needs to survive and all the food I used to eat in the past just shocks me. -
Six Month Waiting Period
Finding MeMe replied to Cresteds Mom's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Be careful, you don't want to gain too much. Use this time to practice eating slowly and enjoying your food (called mindful eating). Some surgeons want to see you lose wt to show that you are ready for the change. Good luck to you. -
Of All The Crap You Took To The Hospital What Did You Actually Use?
Finding MeMe replied to TinkerToyz's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My robe that tie in the front, flip flops to walk around the hallway and leav the hosp in because I didn't want to bend down to tie my shoes, toothbrush/paste, cellphone and charger and big baggy clothes that I wore to and from the hospital. Oh and I forgot tic tacs to keep my breath fresh and moist. -
