    Friends- Can We Really Keep Them?

    I for one don't have many friends now. Never really had lots of friends because I was too busy working and traveling around the world (military). Now that I have set up roots, I made a few but just hang out at the gym mostly. This is where I find like minded people like me, not focused on food and drinking to socialize but getting healthy or maintaing their health. We have a cycling group whichis open to everyone with a bike and I look forward to my fitness classes because my "friends" are all there.
  3. I think the posts will be all related to losing hair. It is a fact that 100% of us will lose hair after surgery. Some will lose more than others, I lost a lot of mine at 4 months and it has finally stopped falling out at 7 months. Good luck to you.

    Very Cold

    Oh yes, I bought lots of sweaters and scarves recentely. I hated wearing jackets and coats before. Now I have grown to like them because I am always freezing. My hubby said I no longer have that layer of fat to keep me warm lots of skin and bones now.

    Yeah, you will-it is a long slow process buy you can do it. Remember that we all lose wt. at different levels and daily exercise makes a difference. Some people can reduce calories/not eat and lose wt. And some people like myself can eat lots of calories and exercise at least 60 min per day and still lose wt. It is all up to you and how you want to lose wt. I personnal would rather exercise to manage my wt. Loss than deprive myself or go hungry. Good luck to you.

    How Bad Was It?

    to me, It was bad, the worst pain I ever had. I have never had surgery before so that may be a factor. First time for going under the knife, anastesia, etc and It was the worst for the first week after two weeks I was OK. Not trying to scare you just being up front and honest.

    My Husband Thinks I'm Copping Out

    I say it is the smart way out, I tried the exercise way and it didn't work. I do agree that losing wt. is 75% diet. what we eat and 25% exercise. I also think that exercise is extremely important to wt. loss and good health overall. I know that It is making my heart, muscles and lungs healthier and younger. I am a much healthier person with exercise than without. Good luck to you.
  9. I was working out at the gym today with my husband and when I bent down to do some dips he touched my triceps and said I am starting to see them. When we went out to walk to the car, he said "you did a good job on the back workout today and you look really good, like hot". This is how I felt So happy. I said thanks hon, I have been working hard lately and I'm glad you noticed.

    Fighting Flab, What Are Best Exercises...

    I do dips, tri extensions, bicep curls and shoulder raises. I do see a difference in my triceps due to the dips.

    Just How Much Is Everyone Exercising?

    I have always worked out six to seven days per week and I think I will never change. 25 years military and recent military retired, this is what I have always known. So why did I need GS, because I couldn't lose the wt. after 40 years old. Anyway, I joined a gym close to my house and take a variety of classes daily (step aerobics, boot camp, body pump, and Les mills RPM and body combat to name a few. I also visit the gym on base to work out on the threadmill and lift wts twice a week with my hubby.

    Five Months Out And Starving

    Do you have a daily exercise program? I find that when I exercise I can eat what I want and don't have to count calories or worry about losing wt.. At 8 months out I still have an appetite and can eat more but I choose healthier foods and give myself two small snacks per day. We are allowed to eat snacks/sweets, etc. only in moderation. Remember our GS is a tool and we have to make the right decisions about food and eat in moderation for life. It won't stop us from eating unhealthy foods.

    Reading this just makes me so thankful. I wish you the best and hope you find peace with your body. I know that I was at 250 now at 175 and had no issues with stretch marks, loose skin and starting to see my six pack and bicep and tricep muscle. Not bragging or anything but some people have many different issues after surger. Today I feel blessed and I am wishing blessings to you always.

    Yes, Yes, my spin session/bike ride at the gym is killing my tail bone lately. I also rubbed it raw while doing incline sit ups, ouchhhhh.

    I think you guys need to talk honestly about her negative feelings. Remember, not everyone will be happy with your wt. loss including some in your family. It may be that your wt. loss is triggering something in her. Good luck to you.

    Get ready for a huge change, I read that 80% of relationships fail after Gastric surgery. If your relationship was weak before the surgery it will be worst. Why? because you feel like you no longer have to settle because you are now HOT and available. If you were skinny before you got fat and stayed together then it is a different story/outcome, you guys have a chance. I wish you good luck but according to the statistic it won't last....Tell me how it works out.

    Telling Wveryone Or No One

    No need to tell if you are not comfortable. I told a few people and some in my famiy, I didn't tell anyone at my gym so now they want to do a before and after poster on me, I won't do it because I would feel like it is a lie. Before I would work out like a madwoman and no results, now I workout as a normal person and have outstanding results. I would feel like a fake amd liar because it was all due to the surgery not the gym.
  19. Favorite-My clothes (now mostly goodwill and thrift stores) fit so much better, you can't beat 5.99 jeans and 2.99 denim skirts. Least Favorite-When I was bigger and would go out walking when I crossed the street people would try to run me over. Now when I went for a run yesterday, several people backed up in the street and a few guys smiled and waved. WOW...Things I never noticed.

    Is This Long Of Stall Normal?

    Yes this was what happened to me, I stayed at 180-185 for around 3 months. I had to fight my way out of the 180's. I am now at 175 maybe 174 today.

    Here is one, down from 250 to 175 in 8 months. A size 22 to size 5 today. I love my surgeon and sleeve and thank God for sending me this blessing.

    You are allergic to something new you are ingesting. Like the above said could be vitamins, new protien shake, medication, etc. If it was the dressing, you would most likely get contact dermatitis or itching burning at the site.

    Feeding The Husband

    I have no appetite but I still cook for my hubby because he loves my cooking. I fixed him a nice meal the day befoe surgery which would last for a week and then made him fresh meals ever since, just in much smaller amounts. I love to cook so I do it for me and him..
