  1. My sleeve loves milk, cheese, eggs, chicken, turkey, tuna, salmon, ham lunch meat (deli sliced), greek yogurt. My sleeve hates cooked ham (like you have at Christmas), anything sweet, and the smell of protein shakes. My sleeve has love/hate relationship with beef of any kind - sometimes it's ok, sometimes it's not.

    Diet Progression

Mine was ice chips after surgery until I was no longer nauseous. Then it was 2 weeks clear liquids followed by 4 weeks of full liquids. At 6 weeks I got to start adding in whatever food I could tolerate but the emphasis stays on protein and fluids.
  3. Holding a pillow on your tummy as you get up.
  4. I have been on full liquids for 6 weeks. I was sleeved on 10/31. My surgeon is really strict. So far I only get hiccups when I suck in too much air (like if I talk too much or laugh super hard). I ate 2 small strips of chicken from my husband's fajitas. I cut them up into small bites and chewed for at least 25 times. But I was too scared to try to eat any more because I didn't want to get sick. Even with my shakes I couldn't tell you that I was "full". It's like I have no body signals unless my stomach doesn't like the first drink (or I guess now bite but I tolerated what I ate fine). I feel full before I eat so I guess I don't know how I will feel full after. Thanks for your advice. I think it's helpful to know other's experiences. I will try to be patient as I live and Learn!
  5. Tonight I got to eat my first real food. But I don't know how to tell that I am full. Any advice?
  6. I can't try real food until 6 weeks. Although I am allowed Greek Yogurt.

    Question

The first two weeks was fluids then protein. Now it's supposed to be protein then fluids. I do have nausea medicine but it will be gone by the end of next week. I have those protein things. Like for breakfast I had protein oatmeal made with skim milk so I had 23 g of protein. I had a greek yogurt which was 14 g. I drank some of my protein shake but could only get a few sips in.

    Question

I'm almost 3 weeks out. I am still on full liquids for another 3 weeks. I am supposed to be worrying about getting 60 to 90 grams of protein in and then worry about fluids. I am so not hungry and I cannot get in all my protein let alone my fluids. I find myself nauseous most evenings especially if I force myself to get all my protein in. Is this normal for being 3 weeks out?
  9. I have friends who have GBS and they said years later they still get cold much easier than before.

Sleeved yesterday 11/9 and checking in!

I had my surgery the 31st. The pain really has been manageable and today is my 5th day without pain meds. Take your pain meds a half hour before walking to minimize the discomfort of beingup.

    A Few Questions

I heard back from my surgeon's office. They said it could be that the fluids decided to move around to my back and that caused the bruising but that doesn't explain the pain. It could be a hematoma. They could have fit me in today except they are an hour and a half away and it was the most busy day this week for my husband. They said call my personal doctor. Well she's on maternity leave. But I have never had a problem seeing another doctor in the practice. So I called and asked if they thought I should be seen. 6 hours later one of the doctors' nurses call me back and says "Yes, Dr. G says you should be seen. His next appointment is December 7." I'm like I'm seeing my surgeon next Monday. So we didn't make an appointment. But I am confused. If I need to be seen, why couldn't they fit me in sometime this week? Oh well. If the pain gets worse I will just go to the ER. But if not I will wait until Monday.

    A Few Questions

I am moving a lot. I walk at least a half hour a day (at one time) plus get up and move around the house. Last night I got ready for bed at the same time as my husband and he said I am very bruised on the right side of my back so I have called the nurse and she has to talk to the doctor. Waiting to hear back. The nurse said she's not heard of this happening before. I am going to the bathroom every 2 hours. My doctor had said that it would take me a while to get my water and protein in for the day but to keep the ration 2 to 1 (double the water) which I have done. I think it was the vitamins in the morning yesterday that made my stomach strange because this morning I am back to being able to drink my first 8 oz of water and am able to drink my shake (still doing so but it's already better than yesterday). Thanks for your information. I was wondering about the kidneys but now that I know I am bruised I'm more confused.

    A Few Questions

I am 8 days out. I have had pain in my right lower back since being home. Is this normal? Yesterday was my best day in getting all my water in and half my protein. Today. I have so far only been able to get in 16 oz of water and 8 oz of protein. I feel like I am so full when I take another sip I just about gag. Pain is mostly gone except my back. I have been taking my vitamins but I usually don't remember until the afternoon. The iron pill always sits heavy in my stomach but I haven't taken that yet. I've taken my prilosec and my multivitamin. Is this normal as well?
