    Newly Sleeved

It sounds like you are one of those that hit the 3-4 week stall. Just keep following the directions of your dr. Get in as much water and protein as possible, and exercise. I'm concerned for you about the vomiting. You may want to call your dr about that. I know I have a hard time with eating too fast and that makes me nauseous.
  2. Girl, don't you dare say you're done!!!! I am only 3 weeks out so I would kill to be a size 10 and u look awesome in your profile pic btw!!! Just cut the carbs and start exercising like crazy!! This is always how I lost weight before my sleeve, and it worked everytime! My problem was keeping up with it long enough to lose all my weight and then keep it off! But I know my sleeve was the tool I needed to lose it and KEEP it off. I believe if you combine LilMissDiva's Basic boot camp with some hardcore excercising, you'll have it off in no time, and come summer, your bod will thank you for it!
  3. You are A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!!!!

    How Many Is Enough?

My surgeon has probably done less sleeves than that and I feel he did an amazing job on mine. He has done thousands of weight loss surgeries,it's just that the sleeve is fairly new and most insurances have just this in the past few yrs started covering it. Not alot of ppl know though that the sleeve is actually part of another weight loss surgery call the Duodenal Switch. The Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy is only the making the stomach smaller part. So,your surgeon may have done even more Duodenal Switches, which means,he was doing a sleeve at the same time. I would ask about it. Good luck to you, you'll do great!

    Hospital Stay

I stayed 2 nights. I wouldn't have wanted to go home the next morning, heck when I got home after 2 nights,I wanted to go back and get pampered some more!! lol. Good luck to you,if you are concerned with staying only 1 day,let your surgeon know, they should accomodate you to make you feel comfortable!
  6. Sorry, forgot to answer the water part! lol. Ok so I am required to get in 64 ozs at least in a 24 hr period.I couldn't do it. I still can only do about 40 ozs at 3 weeks out. Just try try try. I keep a huge cup right next to me when I sleep and I even sip sip sip every time I wake up in the night with my babies. I wake up sipping, carry the cup with me everywhere sipping lol. Honestly, after making yourself sip almost constantly,it kinda becomes a habit. If you can't tolerate cold water at first, try warm broth, tea,or even luke warm water. I LOVE a cup of hot herbal tea first thing in the morning,it makes my sleeve feel awesome and sets me for the day. =)
  7. Good luck to both you ladies!!!! I was sleeved on Jan25th so I am 3 weeks out! I love my new sleeve!!! Let me start by saying no two people handle pain or recover the same. I have had 3 c-sections and the sleeve was a piece of cake compared to them! When I first woke after having my sleeve done,I felt no pain as the anesthesia had not completely worn off. I then went to recovery where my pain was managed well with a pump for me to push as well as meds in my iv when I asked. My pain was about a 3 tops in the recovery room. Then I got to my actual room. I was feeling alot better, sleeping alot, but again,my pain was being managed with meds. When I got up to walk the halls a bit,the worst pain was from the gas. They pump you full of air during surgery so they have room to work. That was really the only pain I felt but it hurt! I would say about a 4-5. In my chest and lung, shoulder and neck areas. The key is to keep taking deep breaths, take gas x chewables, and get your butt outta that hospital bed and walk, walk, walk(if you are permitted to do so). It helps to have someone rub and pat your back while walking to help get that gas off. It is totally do-able. I would do it again in a second honestly. It is so worth the 16+ lbs I've lost in 3 weeks and the rest I know I will lose forever! I feel great now by the way, able to tolerate soft foods and no pain AT ALL. You both can do this, good luck and keep us updated!!! (((HUGS)))

    Got My Sleeve Finally!

You are so welcome. That's what we're here for! Oh it helped so much for dh to rub my back! All things warm and hot were and are awesome for me. I loved broth and then when I got to full liquids I really loved chicken broth with cream of chicken soup mixed in. It's usually hard to get even liquids in at first bc the sleeve is still so swollen from surgery it will pass. =) Good luck!

    Got My Sleeve Finally!

I'm so sorry!! =(( I agree that the first week is def the worst. It gets better almost immediately after a week imo. I am almost 3 weeks out and don't even feel like I had surgery. If I could give u any advice,I would say to keep on moving and walking as much as u can-to get that gas off, keep taking gas x chewables or strips,I like the chewables better. And I would get some type of antacid to keep that acid away! It's horrible! It may make you think you're hungry! If drinking water hurts your sleeve, try waking up to a nice warm cup of herbal tea,it is so soothing. Then follow that with room temperature or luke warm water. I know warm water sounds nasty, but it wasn't bad for me. My sleeve would not and still really doesn't tolerate cold anything very well. I drink it still, but I try to drink room temp water,it goes down so great. I really hope you feel better soon!!! You have done something great for yourself,it just takes a lil time to adjust. (((HUGS)))

    Is This Self-Sabotage?

Sooo very happy to read this!!! You are gonna rock your sleeve!!!! Can't wait to see your transformation. I know it is a life changing and learning experience,we are gonna do great. We are about the same amount of time out,I had my sleev done on Jan 25th. Ever need to vent or just chat, please don't hesitate to message me!
  12. Yea,I think I was freaking out bc I stalled at like a week and a half. But it only lasted for about a week, now I'm back to dropping. It's easy to become obsessed about the weight coming off,I had to give my scale to my mom and step back for a minute and collect myself...lol.
  13. Yes!! That is awesome to hear!!! I would rather get new boobs then belly lol,and I don't want to do both so I am really trying to get the belly fit when I can. Thank you!!!

Not Sure If I Should Have Skin Removal

I too have had 3 pregnancies with the last one being twins-I carried my twin girls to full term, they were 7 lbs each!! LOL! They did such a number on my belly. I am almost 3 weeks out, have lost 30 lbs total pre and post op and I have like 98 more to go! I am soooo afraid of loose skin. I would go ahead with the panni removal. Good luck with your marriage,I really hope yall are able to work through it. (HUGS)
  18. I would be interested in buying some of them!!!! PM me!!!

    Loose Skin

I am just giving a little bump to this thread in hopes that some of the previous ppl that posted here can give any insight on how they are presently doing with the lose skin? I'm just 3 weeks out but of course worried about the loose skin as well.
  20. Hi everyone!! Thought I would post my info here as well. My name is Liz,I am 24 yrs old. I started this journey in October 2011 at 268 lbs, lost 14 lbs before surgery. Was sleeved on January 25th 2012,and have lost 16 lbs since being sleeved! It's the best thing I've done for myself!
  21. Hey girl!!! Def sign me up,I love your whole mindset on things!!! I am 2 weeks and 5 days out and have lost 16 lbs since the sleeve. 30 lbs since the end of October!! =) It's too early for me to do exercises on my belly area but for future reference, what's your thing as far as trying to get rid of belly fat or flab. I know I will have the hardest time with loose skin on my belly as I have had 3 pregnancies,1 being a set of twins I carried to full term who were 7 lbs each! They did a number on my belly plus I'm fat lol so I am sooo scared for loose skin!

    Cold Feet.

You can do this!! We all get some version of cold feet. I am now 3 weeks out and about 4 days before my surgery I almost called and cancelled! I was freaking out,I was afraid of not waking up and leaving my 4 babies behind. All the fears that come with it I had. I had to weigh out the pros and cons, get on VST and read everyone's encouraging stories, look at before and after pics, and just think about what a better life I wanted. Yes there is a (slim) risk of complications, there is with any surgery. But once you go ahead with it,then you are on the road to recovery and a healthier you. Trust me,you won't regret it!!! Here's an idea, make a list of all the things you are looking forward to after your sleeve. Heck post it here!! =) Make a list of all the things you hate most about being overweight, the way it feels, the negatives that come along with it. Make a list of goals, small and big. It will be a for sure picker upper to think about being able to wear a bikini to the pool or fitting in a pair of size 8 jeans. You are only 18,you have your whole life ahead of you!! ((HUGS))
  24. Thank you all for your responses. I tried looking it up on the internet and it was based on how many calories I am taking in. Right now I am only getting like maybe 500 calories tops so I should have like 40 somethin grams of fat?
  25. Yes! It's the skin,it's soo fatty!!
