My surgery is in 10 days and I am craving a chocolate milk shake like nobody's business! The more I think about it, the more I HAVE to have one. I haven't succumbed yet, but I don't have enough confidence in myself to say that I won't do it. Everybody goes through this, it is completely normal. It is all a part of your "food funeral" and it is so interesting to hear what everyone else's cravings were before surgery. Everybody's is different. But eventually you will come to terms with it and the closer you get to your surgery date the more real it will become and you will do fine.

Support System After Vsg
shellbelle replied to jasleeve's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Well, I'll have my mom and my sister there for me, but it sucks not having a "significant other" to turn to for support and encouragement. But my marriage wasn't filled with much "love and affection" anyway so although it is something that I wish I had, I wasn't used to it or anything so I think I'll manage just fine without it. I won't even know what I was missing. -
Gastric Sleeve Surgery Without 2 Week Pre-op Diet?
shellbelle posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Has anyone had the Vertical Sleeve surgery without doing the complete 2 week pre-op diet to shrink the liver? I was supposed to already have my surgery date by now but my insurance is dragging along a bit and I am concerned about running out of time. I am supposed to be relocating and starting a new job on the 1st of January but the longer it takes to get a surgery date the harder it will be for me to cram everything in before I move and start my new job. So my question is, has anyone on this board had the surgery without doing the full 2 week pre-op diet? I'm just curious. I know everyone will say to just slow down and take my time but I don't want to lose this job opportunity. -
Support System After Vsg
shellbelle replied to jasleeve's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I know exactly where you're coming from. My surgery is on the 4th of January (coming up fast!) and I am concerned about being depressed because I don't have any friends and my husband of 21 years left me during the holidays of 2009 so the holidays have been a pretty depressing time for me ever since then. I am wondering if I will be an emotional wreck after the surgery. But what I DO know is that the girls (and guys) on this board care SO MUCH about everyone so at the very least you have hundreds of supporters on this board that are here for you whenever you need it - including me! And pretty soon the fog will lift and you will be feeling great and hopeful for your new future and your new body! At least that is what I keep telling myself. -
Please respond and let us know you're OK! We're worried about you and praying for you.

Has Anyone Been Sleeved In Jacksonville, Fl?
shellbelle replied to FromBandToSleeve's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I am having my surgery with Dr. Webb at Memorial Hospital. I have heard rave reviews about Memorial. -
I am post-op, no surgery date yet but it will probably be just after Thanksgiving. Anyway, my question is this: I have heard about a lot of different Protein powders and shakes and I was wondering if anyone knew where we can get samples of the different varieties to see if we are going to like them before buying a whole box full. I'm also wondering if there is a tasteless, unscented powder that we can add to our own broths and shakes to make them protein - especially if the protein varieties are gross. I know that our tastes will probably change post-op so I don't plan on buying too much before surgery but a lot of these powders have to be ordered and I would hate to pay shipping on a case of product and then not like it. Any ideas or suggestions?

Sooo.. Steri Strips or Staples
shellbelle replied to Vsg Doll's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgeon does the VSG laprascopically (sp?) with only one small incision through the belly button. How many of you were done via lap, versus an abdominal incision. I'm just curious... -

Pre Op Diet and Fatty Liver
shellbelle replied to Liliana Arleen's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's a good question and I am also curious about it as well. I don't have a fatty liver (that I know of, but who knows? Everything else about me is "fatty" lol), but I AM a notorious cheater and even though it is only 2 weeks long I still don't know if I can do it and not cheat just a little - ESPECIALLY at Thanksgiving! Who can eat turkey without mashed potatoes and gravy???? Will they cancel surgery if your liver hasn't shrunk the way they want it to? How will they even know? -
Sleeved on 11/2 and back at work on 11/7!!!
shellbelle replied to RhondaLynn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My heart skipped a beat also when I read that you ate turkey and mashed potatoes! It must be nice! I am still post-op and I don't know what kind of diet he prescribes for post-op. I do know that 2 weeks pre-op I have to start on the South Beach diet, Phase 1, in order to shrink the liver. I will be curious to find out how long I will be on liquids. Good luck to you and keep us posted. By the way, I really enjoyed your detailed description of events after surgery. It would be nice to hear other accounts like that as well. It kind of gives us "pre-op" girls an idea of what to expect post-surgery. -
Welcome Florida Sleevers
shellbelle replied to JennsNewLife's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi, my name is Michelle and I am from Jacksonville. I don't have a surgery date but we are hoping for some time in November. I have my first appointment with the surgeon (Dr. Steven Webb) next Tuesday. If anybody else out there has used Dr.Webb, please let me know because I have a few questions and I would like to get as much information as possible about Dr. Webb and Novus Center and the way they do things over there. Thanks! Michelle -

Hi, I am also in Jacksonville and my surgeon of choice is Dr. Webb. I have an appointment to see him next Tuesday as a matter of fact. Is there any way for me to get ahold of you, maybe via email or something so I can pick your brain? I don't know much about Dr. Webb so I had some questions about his bedside manner, etc. Thanks, Michelle
