Thanks to you both. Yes so glad I found out before going in. That would've been a disaster lol.

So where should be 3 days post op I'm not sleeved. Why? Cause I found out Sunday my insurance was cancelled due to the fact my ex husband has been off work cause he had surgery on his hand and his disability hasn't kicked in yet. So pissed right now. Now I have to wait until he goes back to work which won't be until the end of July. Luckily my approval from the insurance stands until I get it done so Idon't have to do everything over again. I'll just have to go preop testing and maybe get clear through cardiology again but hopefully not. So my wait continues!!!

Am I Paranoid? Mildly Freaked Out Or What?
raindrop replied to sleevemeup's topic in Insurance & Financing
Your first initial BMI is the one they should go by. So regardless if you fall below after they should take that 40 bmi. Also sometimes the employer may have different requirements then the insurance. That's where the outside company that reviews comes in. I ran into that problem and found out at the end that the employer wanted some more requirements then the insurance company. Luckily it worked out for me in the end I'm getting sleeved June 5. -

My surgery date is June 5th. I start my preop liquid protein diet on Tuesday. Am I wrong to feel like I want to eat everything I know I won't be able to eat anymore in the next couple of days? That's how I feel right now. My post surgery diet will be very restricted. First 2 weeks clear liquids. Weeks 3-8 add protein shakes and strained cream of soups. Week 9 can start adding soft blenderized foods but still at a practically pale pourable consistency. Week 10 can start chewing foods to pasty consistency. My doctor believes in letting the stomach heal lol which is a good thing. Sleeve patients diets are the most restricted out of the 3 surgeries. I've gotten my post op meds and foods mostly chicken broth and crystal light lol. Now I just have to get my binder and I'm ready!!!

I'm approved thru BCBSIL. Their approval was easy. The problem was I had to get approved thru an outside agency because my insurance is thru the city of chicago and they have their on guidelines. It took a week for an approval that should have only taken 2 days. I called every day for 4 days and finally on Friday I talked to the the nurse. It took her all of 1.5 min to look over my paperwork and say she would send it on to the doctors. My approval came thru on Tuesday!!!

I have recieved approval for my surgery!!! I am so happy right now. I must admit when I initally got the approval I got scared and had to ask my self is this really what I want to do. After that 2seconds past my answer is YESSS!!!. Now I can really start my program cause I was so scared of not getting approved that I wanted to keep the weight on in case I had to jump through some hoops. Crazy huh? It actually only took 2days for the approval to come through. Now my journey really begins. My last appt and preop work up will be on May23 and my surgery is scheduled for June 5!!!!

So at 4 months into my 6 month required weight loss program by BcBsIl I find out my insurance has been terminated for the last 3 months!!! My ex husband is supposed to carry coverage for as long as we are both single. He's been off work due to injury so the insurance lapsed. Now that he's back at work the benefits office said the insurance will be back dated to the day he came back to work which was about a month ago. My insurance coordinator at the surgeons office said to continue on program and come Feb it shouldn't be a problem because I still would have met my qualifications. So I'm hoping and praying that this won't be a setback and that it doesn't cause a problem when its time to send in my paperwork.

Has Anyone Tried Unjury Protein Cheese Sauce?
raindrop replied to crosswind's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Yes tried it at my last nutrition class, and it was very good. My 9 yr old was with me and she even liked it. -
I have BCBS of IL PPO and I am in my 3rd month of my 6 month program. My starting BMI was 40 so instead of trying to lose weight now I am trying to maintain and focus on post surgery eating habits. Does anyone know now if it's hard to get approved through them once the 6 months is up.
-
Thanks alot!!! Just taking it one day at a time and trying to get ready for this change. I have 4 more months of prelims to go
-
I have been on here for about 6 weeks and it has given me alot of info. I am in my 2nd month of my 6 month process and cant wait for these next 4 months to go by!!! Went to my doctors appt yesterday and I've gained 2lbs!! Some would be upset by this but for me it was okay because my bmi is right at 40 and if I lose any weight I wont qualify so I have been obsessed with not losing weight in fear of not qualifing. My dietitian has me on a plan not to lose weight but to focus on learning my post surgery eating habits. The hardest part so far has been the not drinking anything while eating and learning to actually sip and not gulp. I hate when people look at me and say "you dont need to do that just exercise". I carry my weight well the surgeon even looked at me kinda funny at our first meeting lol until he had me pull my shirt up and he was like "ok now I see youre all middle" how funny is that
