I did not have my Mirena IUD removed prior to my sleeve - my surgeon never brought it up. I guess I don't understand why you'd have to have it taken out. Good luck

Hello- I'm so glad I found this site! I had vsg surgery last Thursday and am still trying to fully recover. I guess I fooled myself into thinking a had a really high tolerance for pain/nausea, and assumed I'd be that one person who had surgery at 7:30 am and would be out of there without spending the night...I ended up in there for 2 nights. Things are slowly getting better but I am thirsty and have to constantly fight the urge to take large sips of Water. My surgeon was Dr. William Johnson @ Emory Johns Creek Hospital (in Atlanta suburbs) - not the closest hospital but everyone I talked to said he was wonderful. He's optimistic, exceptionally kind, and seems very knowledgeable and skilled. I've never thought this would be easy but I really think I can make a lot of great progress. I'm going to walk on the treadmill tomorrow morning and get back into a routine. Does anyone recommend a particular "off-the-shelf" plain Protein powder that I could use to mix with yogurt, cottage cheese, etc.? Thanks for any advice you can provide!

My surgeon had a discounted cash price of about $18,500 for a gastric sleeve, including 1 night hospital stay, anesthesiology, a GI test post-op, and surgical assistant. I have not heard of the surgery being outpatient (I had to stay 2 nights) so I don't know how that might affect the price, but I would not expect anything under 15,000.

Need Atlanta, Ga Gastric Sleeve Surgeon

Dr. Johnson at Atlanta Bariatrics did my surgery and so far everything has gone really well. I had my surgery at Emory Johns Creek Hospital; I'm not sure if he operates at any other hospitals. I would definitely recommend him. -
