I'm about 11 days out of my band to sleeve revision. This didn't start happening until the last few days but every time I eat anything (I'm on purees) I get nauseous after about 4 really small bites. I tried taking zofran before eating, no go. I'm using the prevacid solutabs daily and getting in all my water with no problem but I'm annoyed by the nausea with food. Has this happened to anyone else?

So having been the fat girl my whole life I've always been terrified of going to the gym where everyone will stare. I joined planet fitness 3 months ago and still haven't gone even though I have friends who are willing to go with me. One of them is 5'10 and weighs like 125lbs soaking wet so I doubt I'd ever go with her. The others are chunky girls so it wouldn't be so awkward, but I can't get myself to go. I freak out and cancel. Any tips on how to get over this?

I refuse to hit up the Y here. It's so unclean. I've gotten impetigo from there twice. *cringe* Thanks for all the advice! My mom joined up and is supposedly gonna go with me. She's had bypass 9 years ago and wants to take off the 30ish lbs she put back on. We'll see how it goes!

I liked dill pickles before surgery. Now I'm a freaking addict. Every time my family orders out or we go out to dinner I'll order wraps or something with EXTRA PICKLES and then only eat the pickles and save everything else for later. It's kinda sad.

I can't answer a whole lot as I'm only 14 days out from band to sleeve revision but hopefully I can help a little bit. I had the worst pain from my band surgery that I've ever had in my life. Sleeve the only pain was from that dumb drain they had in me for 2 days at the hospital and the muscles around my belly button. The drain hurt me a lot when I was trying to take deep breaths or move to my sides. In terms of drinking and eating my band hated me with a passion. I would get stuck on anything, including Water. So far I haven't gotten stuck on anything. Granted I'm only on pureeds and a couple softer solids but I've been stuck on mashed potatoes plenty of times with the band and I ate mashed potatoes with no problem. I've eaten string cheese with no problem which is something I had a lot of problems with before. I'm eating hard boiled eggs which were a BIG problem before. Sometimes I feel like there's a little bit of a stuck feeling but it goes away pretty much immediately. I also had a paraesophageal hernia repaired and that hernia had narrowed my esophagus so I'm thinking I may be feeling that. All in all I'm feeling good except for a lot of nausea which my surgeon assured me was normal and would pass. From what I've read from other revisioners it doesn't seem like any of the band problems exist with sleeve. Good luck to you! -
Nausea after eating anything

Thanks for all the replies! I had my 2 week followup yesterday and they said it's fairly normal for sleevers to have nausea. My surgeon also reminded me that I had the same problem with the band and when I advanced my diet it stopped. I forgot ALL about that. She said to try a little bit of softer solids like a hard boiled egg or something. Did that last night and wasn't nauseous again until I woke up this morning. Ate another hard boiled egg about an hour ago, no nausea. LOL I think my body just hates full liquids and purees. -
I have now literally lost 8 Lbs with http://t.co/btc2Anhk. Has anyone else used it? If not, I HIGHLY recommend!

Day 4 - Post Op - getting harder, not easier

They have the prevacid orally disintegrating tabs. They're really expensive though if your insurance doesn't cover them. And of course they're on backorder (at least at the pharmacy where I work) -
Tylenol for the time being. Ibuprofen (advil, motrin) and Naproxen (aleve) are harsher on the stomach and can cause ulcers.

How do feel about the lapband now that you have had yours removed?

I've had my sleeve for 10 days now and I have to say I'm much happier already. I had the band put in back in Jan 09, lost about 60 lbs in the first 2 months, it was great until I got the first fill. After that I was stuck all the time. Took the fill out. Stuck all the time. Test after test all came back normal. I was miserable. I would get stuck on chicken, mashed potatoes, ice cream, yogurt, water, whatever. I'm still kind of terrified that will all start over again when I can eat regular foods but I'm crossing my fingers that I'm like the rest of you who don't have that problem anymore. Maybe I won't have to be embarrassed anymore when I go out to eat and the waiters are like what!? wasn't the food good you haven't touched it! or go out with family and have them ask me why I'm not eating more than one bite and have to explain everything and hear their suggestions that won't work. I've had a couple people ask me about the band and I've straight up said it's evil don't do it it's not worth the risks. Sure some people have great success but a whole lot of people don't. -
