  1. Thank you! Yes, my pre-op diet starts Monday. It is very similar to Atkins minus bacon and sausage high fatty meats. No sodas too.
  2. I'm new to the board, but wanted to encourage you--- I have pcos and all the issues that cone with it, we have tried 5 years with a fertility specialist to get preg. Several d&c's, many injections, and three failed iui's later--- still no baby, but in 2009 while still trying we became foster parents, Dec 7, 2009 the day our license came back, a baby boy was born and two days later was brought to our home, long story short 1 day after his first birthday he became ours forever! We still long for a pregnancy too, and I'm looking at the sleeve surgery in November, so we are excited to think that possibly in 24 months our son will be 4 and possibly if all goes well we can add a sibling! But if not, God has blessed us beyond all measure with a beautiful son I am convinced was meant for us all along! Best wishes on your family venture!
  3. So last Tuesday I went to the WLS seminar, yesterday was the nutritionalist consult, today was my psych eval (I passed! Yay!) now next Thursday the 13th I meet with my surgeon--- all medical records in except missing my weight for 2009 records. So, it's moving right along--- weighed in yesterday at 280.9 my record to date, but all of that is about to change! Fingers crossed for a November date! Anyone else out there looking or already booked for November?
  4. Well tomorrow I meet with the Nutritionalist at the surgeon's office, Wednesday I have my bariatric Psych eval, and in the meantime I am playing follow up with the drs offices faxing my five years of medical records! I have checked out books from the library on the surgery, and been learning a lot from everyone on here! There is a support group meeting this week for those who have had the surgery so I am going to try to attend and learn as much as I can. Not sure how long this process will take but I am looking forward to the benefits from changing my life! Keep your fingers crossed all goes smoothly and in time for a November surgery date!
  5. Hello all! I'm Meli, 33, a life long battle with weight, PCOS, Metabolic X Syndrome, Type II diabetes and so on... I think the hardest part has been 5 years of trying to conceive with no luck--- tried everything short of IVF. I have considered WLS in the past, but was not fond of re-routing intestines, it just sounds really bad--- so I was glad to learn about the VSG. My fertility doctor actually mentioned to me last Tuesday that perhaps it is time to consider surgery, needless to say that evening I was in a seminar with, Dr. Anderson, on the latest WLS. I have my appointment with the nutritionalist and pyschologist next week and if my medical records come together as planned and insurance is on board, we have a hopeful surgery date for November 2011! In the mean time I want to know the ins and outs of this surgery, what you didn't expect, what you have really appreciated, and how you cope with any thing that I may encounter early on or even further on in the process! Thank you for your time!
