10 Day out from surgery and scared
Meli replied to TurtleGirl49's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I think you need to realize its ok to feel a range of emotions before any surgery, and especially in a life changing one. We are about to enter a new unknown to us, but that's where we have to trust those who've gone before and our skilled surgeons. We need to keep in touch with those who will lift us up when we need it and just listen when we need to talk. Family and friends are a good resource to cope, but this site is where we find people who know exactly what we've been through from pre surgery weight issues to our jitters and issues after. You are stronger than you give yourself credit for, and I have a sneaking suspicion that as we go through our weight loss phase your confidence and self assurance will soar. Here's to reaching for the stars!!! Best wishes! -

So, my journey has been a quick one so far--- attended WLS mtg on Sept 27, that next week oct 5&6 did nutritionalist and psychologist appts, met with my surgeon the week after (14th I think) started preop diet on the 17, got my ins approval last Thursday ( the 20th )and my surgery is now 7 days away--- on HALLOWEEN!!!! Needing some advice and tips you have found helpful in the hospital and days after--- I've read the post on here with the list, just wondering if there was anything else I should know?
-
Hey! I'm in the Greenville area too. I am having surgery next Monday--- not sure how much I can help you with, but I will be glad to help.
-
Yay! Finallyfit! So glad we are in this together! I'm with you on prayers working! God's been good!
-
@sweetness2005: Yay for us! I have a buddy now! I am originally from Washington State! Best wishes to you! Here's to new beginnings for both of us!!!
-
@Yunbug: the Psych eval was easy. They had me fill out paperwork about my diet, how I feel about myself, about my childhood, how I felt the surgery will help me, what my expectations are etc. I know the Psychologist I saw doesn't pass everyone, and if you don't pass they give you areas to work on before they pass you for surgery. No big deal, be honest and open. Best wishes to you!

10 Day out from surgery and scared
Meli replied to TurtleGirl49's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am 7 days until surgery and still have moments where I am scared, but I know the payoff will be worth it. I have a 22 month old son and my fears are more for him, than myself. I know it will be tough, but I am excited about the new life it will bring for me and my family! Best wishes to you! -
Hey! I'm there with you! My surgery is in 7 days!

So...my last post I was just past the Psych eval, waiting on 2009 record, since then all has fallen into place. Today I met with my surgeon, Dr. Anderson, and after that meeting we set up the surgery date! October 31! Yes, just a little over 2 weeks away until I begin the process of a new me!!!! I am excited, and nervous, but mostly ready for this next step in life!
