There were many reasons why I chose to band. I have diabetes and high blood pressure so I really wanted to be able to lose weight to get that under control. And when doing research on bariatric surgery the number of death rates for banding vs. gastric bypass was really low.

Hey Tina, So sorry to hear of all this dumb azz stuff you have to be going thru. I could tell you stories of what I went thru with my ex and it makes your stuff sound like a picnic. Not down playing what you are going thru but believe me it could be a whole lot worst. In order for you to move on, you need to forget about calling that woman's husband, stop dwelling on her. Dont give her anymore energy than whats she all ready absorbed from you. I know its going to be hard, but try to be friends with your husband first. Learn to develop that into being best friends. If you cant learn how to be friends than you can forget about being husband and wife. Its as simple as that, no friends, no lovers. You get where I am going with this. The trust may take a VERY long time to come back. He is going to have to do everything in his power to convince you and win you back. Good luck to you, I dont wish this on any one. If you'd like to hear about some of my gory details of my failed marriage send me a private message and get ready for the shock of your life!!!

gunn4ya replied to bling's topic in Insurance & Financing
I have UHC and it took about a month to get me an approval. Good luck to you. -
Yes, for me the port seemed to hurt a bit in the beginning. If I remember it took about 6 months off and on for it to get its act together. Good luck to you.

Chanda & Tina, Take your time!!! Thats the only thing I am trying to impress upon you. You dont want to lose too fast and you want to learn how to eat and do it healthy. Both of you will do just fine. I am here for you for any type of encouragement or fussing at that either of you need. Teresita, Long time no hear from. I missed you!!!
-
Hello Chanda and Tina, You newbies need to chill out. First of all you dont wanna lose the weight too fast cause then you will learn how to eat around your band. Secondly, dont just depend on the band, it is a tool, not to be used by itself. You will need some will power, good eating choices and exercise to make this surgery work for you. Now that the older and more wiser has spoken I am gonna go and pick at a lil bit of lunch myself. Oh and by the way, once you get filled to your sweet spot you wont need fills for months. My last fill was March 20 and I am still tight as a tick.

Chanda, Glad to hear all went well with your surgery. Take care and keep us posted on your recovery and new eating habits.

Tina, I have been doing fine. thanks for asking, how is everything going for you? I am still losing slowly. I have been swimming and riding my bike. I have been off work since June 29 and tomorrow I go back to work. Boohoo:think. At any rate, keep up the work and have you had a fill yet???

Sonya Staff at Dr. Brody's is just fine. The nice thing about it is they get you in and out, no sitting around. I didnt have to do a pre-op diet. But I think Tina can give you some tips on that.

Spicy is no good in my book. I was the queen of spicy but now if its too spicy it feels like a bit of acid reflux is going on. Like the hot wants to come back up so I limit the amount of spicy now.

Welcome LMF77, Everyone has the dreaded fear of the liquid diet. Believe me you really wont even feel like eating at least for a couple of days. The recovery process seems to differ for all of us. I was sore like I had done too many sit ups. There are tons of Marylanders out here on this forum. Make sure you go from the main page to USA Local Lap-Band Support and then to the Maryland Section. Good luck to you.

Zeesmeow, You are right to feel excited and scared, those feelings are normal because you really dont know what to expect. When you wake up from surgery you are going to be really groggy, I was a little naseous. When I finally came to I noticed my stomach felt sore like I had done lots of sit ups. I could still manage to take my pills after the surgers. I had stitches that were disolvable. During your first week you will be sore probably moving a bit slower and you may find that you are tired. Get your rest, your body needs to heal. It will be different for you on us liquids but remember to stay with it and not try to over do it on the first week. I took 2 weeks off but a lot of the folks on here have only taken a few days to a week so I guess you will have to play it by ear on what you feel like. Good luck to you.
