  1. I saw my Nut 3 times. All of the times she was super nice and we went over lots of information. Never had to fill out any forms or anything. Can you get a different NUT? They are there to help you and advise you in any way about what to eat when to eat and how to eat. You should feel good about it, not bad. I answered plenty of questions, but the conversation was smooth. We talked about weight loss attempts, drugs I have taken, family history, etc. She also talked to me about how I was doing on my pre-op diet, if I was drinking soda, how much Water I was drinking, and also how I felt about who I would be and what I would eat after surgery. If you can't get a new NUT then I would say to get tough. You ask him what you want to know. Some people just aren't personable, I don't understand why they would go into a profession where they deal with people but unfortunately they do. Good Luck hun it will all work out in the end.
  2. Awesome stuff, I am not going out of state or anything but I like being informed. Who knows when I may be able to help someone else, or even may need to know the information for myself someday. Thanks for the post!
  3. Everyone goes through this in one way or another. Believe me though it's totally not worth it. My surgery is on the 30th of this month and looking back I wish I never did all of my "last suppers". I felt so guilty when I only lost 1 pound at a Dr.s appointment. The more work you put into this now the less weight you will have to lose and the faster you can be back to eating what you love. Obviously in smaller portions and less frequently. All I can tell you is to buckle down and get serious. If you do that all will be well and you will feel totally better about yourself. Good Luck!

    Gastric Sleeve Surgery Denied!

I hate to hear things like this because it can really bring the person down. The best advice I can say is ask for help from your surgeon , they obviously have more pull (most of the time) than we do ourselves. In truth this is not the end of the world, and you will pull through. If this insurance company ends up denying you all the way to the end, the next one will prolly approve u no problem. Stay Strong and stay dedicated because you WILL have this surgery. Good Luck!
  5. Good Luck! My thoughts are with you, and hoping for you to have a speedy recovery.

Late Period 1 Month Post Op?

Missing a periods after having something traumatic happen to your body is very normal. I went almost 4 months at one time with no perios because I was so stressed about work, money, and other personal stuff. As soon as your body is ready you will be back to normal. Don't Worry!
  7. Back from my vacation to see family, and surgery is in a few days!

  8. So I met with my surgeon today and asked him how big my sleeve would be. I see everyone on here talking all these numbers and I wanted to know mine. He said I will have a sleeve the size of 15 cc's. He sounded so sure of himself that I didn't question him any further. Originally I said I wanted gastric bypass, but he convinced me to go with the sleeve. So he said because I wanted gastric originally that he was going to make my sleeve the same size as he makes his gastric patients' pouch, which is 15cc's. So what exactly would that be in Bougie terms. I'm lost. I just get so nervous in the Surgeons office that I fumble around with what I want to say. If anyone knows anything that could help me I would appreciate your feedback.
  9. My nutrition appointments were my favorite part of this whole thing. I liked my nutritionist a lot, because she was a normal person and not some super health food nutball. She asked if I was drinking soda, how my pre-op diet was going, and went over lots of paperwork on food and vitamins. I felt I could be more honest with her than my own doctor. I told her I was still drinking sodas but cutting down a little at a time, and I soon as I got my date I would quit all soda, she was happy with that. She also understood my setbacks, and all my falls off the wagon. She helped me a lot. I don't think you have anything to worry about. Her main concern was making sure I was well aware of what I was getting into health and food wise after this was all overwith. I was fully aware of it and so I got cleared. Plus she asked about eating disorders and stuff. I have a horrible binging problem and I was still cleared, so don't worry too awful much. They are there to help, and like someone else said unless you are seriosuly cuckoo you will clear just fine. Good luck, let us know how it goes.
  10. You are having the same feelings I am having. I have my surgery on Nov 30th. I'm not as panicked, but I keep thinking I might want to cancel this whole thing and do it on my own. I know I have tried to do it on my own many times and haven't kept the weight off , but I keep thinking I could this time. But I know in my heart I couldn't. Just try and stay busy, I swear my house seriously sparkles I have cleaned it so much in this short amount of time lol. I am a stay at home mom so I spend a lot of my day with downtime. My downtime usually used to equate to scarf down time lol, so now I am dealing with the head hunger. You will be fine. I was worried about waking up during my first surgery , now I joke about looking forward to the break LOL. I'm always telling them to keep me out a little longer so I don't have to go home as soon. I have never once felt pain during surgeries. I was awake during my c-section and I didn't feel that pain either. Just a ton of shoving around. Moving your date up was IMO a great thing, the sooner you get it done the better for YOU! Just try and stay busy and like previous poster said time will fly by. In 5 months from now you will thinner and happier and not even thinking about this time. Good Luck hun, keep us posted.
  11. wo0ho0! I am super excited for you! My tentative date is Nov. 30th. So I will be suffering through the holidays. Right now I am on my 2 week pre-op diet and will be drinking shakes during Thanksgiving. Congratulations and Good Luck!
  12. I have had a lot of out of pocket expenses with this surgery. I have had to pay a 200.00 consult fee, plus I had to buy a lot of protein powders. I applied for a credit limit increase on my credit card and used that. Plus any other expenses that will come up. I know it is hard, I am a stay at home mom and my boyfriend is out of work right now. We don't have a lot of money and I am on Illinois Medicaid. My boyfriend and I both feel like it is worth the money, this is going to change my life for the best. In one or two years when I am healthy and thin, the money I spend now will be long forgotten. Good Luck hun, I can see how this could be stressful for you.
  13. Congrats ! I didn't do the six month supervised diet, but I'm sure it feels like forever waiting for it to be over. I started my journey Sept 26, 2011 and I will be sleeved November 30th, and just that little bit of time felt like forever, so I can't imagine how 6 months would feel. Anyways congrats! We are so worth this. Time to move on with our lives and get skinny!

    Awaiting.....

Good Luck to everyone! I am scheduled for November 30th.
  16. It's just the way it is unfortunately. You are basically eating nothing, you are gunna feel crappy. I am on my 2 week pre-op liquid diet phase, and it's not getting any easier the longer it goes on. Drink lots of water, and stay rested. I would say just relax and try to nap. My biggest enemy right now is head hunger. I know I am not really starving and I really don't want to cheat but it's SO FREAKING HARD! I am crabby and snippy and just plain old mean to everyone lol
  17. I love this idea. My sleeve bucket list is: 1. Throw away all of my clothes that I grow out of, I have always saved bigger size clothing "in case" I gained the weight back. This time I won't gain weight back. 2. Shop in the cute clothes section. This includes wearing a womans style shirt. I always buy mens t-shirts instead. 3. Buy and wear a pait of cute jean shorts for next summer. 4. Jog 5 miles without stopping. 5. Play with my 2.5 year old daughter without being winded. 6. Wear a pair of cute zip up leather boots, right now my calves are too big to zip them up. I have way more but that is what I have come up with for now.
  18. I am a size 10 so I am hoping my feet shrink. They usually only make the cutest shoes up to size 9, then your out of luck. So heres to hoping!

SURGERY NOW @ 900 AM TOMORROW INSTEAD 300

Good Luck! I am hoping my surgery is early in the morning too because I want to be able to go home as soon as possible. I hate being away from my little girl, I still haven't cut the cord and she is two and a half years old LOL. I'm thinking about asking the surgeon if I can possibly go first on my surgery day.
  20. You need to be honest with your surgeon. It is important that they know what they are getting into when they start your surgery, for your health and safety. I just started my 2 week pre-op diet today, and I am completely commited because I want everything about my surgery to go super smooth. So, let your surgeon know. It will all work out in the end, even if the surgery is rescheduled. Which in my very humble opinoin might need to be. If you are having a problem completing a 2 week pre-op diet you may not be as emotionally ready to get the surgery. If you cheat on the siet after surgery you could seriously hurt yourself. Reflect on why you cheated and try to find the solution because you don't want to end up with complications after your surgery. Good Luck.
  21. Thanks for letting us know, I will check it out!
  22. wo0t! wo0t! I am so0o0oo excited for you! I am sending tons of good vibes your way.

    A new outlook...

Good for you hun! I feel the same way, my surgery is Nov. 30th. It's almost like I can't wait to start my life over. To be a new me, the me I always knew I have been. Totally agree with your post!
  24. So, I had to do the same thing, not as long as you and I was still so pissed off. I had my consultation on Sept 26 and my doc told me then that I had to start my pre-op liquid diet then. I am like you're joking right.? I mean seriously why should I have to do that.? I am having surgery on November 30th so I have only been at this for two months. Now you may not want to hear this but I am going to tell you anyways. I have learned a lot on this diet for two months. It has been a time for me to practice being sleeved without actually being sleeved. I was able to fall off the wagon and not be completely ill, or hurt my new stomach. It's sucks that we have to prove anything to anybody, but why shouldn't we have to. In reality we are the ones who made ourselves fat. The doc and the insurance companies are about to spend a lot of time and money on you and they want to make sure you can actually succeed. I don't see what's wrong with that. Hold your head up high and take this time to find yourself. To learn some new things about yourself. Many people have to lose weight for insurance purposes, be happy you aren't in that boat. I felt the same way you did at first, but I am glad they did it. I cut out soda, I cut out sweets, I cut out Snacks. They good thing was because I had some time beforehand I was able to cut things down slowly, versus doing it all at once and having caffeine headaches and starving to death. Plus I have learned my food-triggers and I have learned when the worst times for me to snack are. You will learn all of these things about yourself, if you haven't already and will be better prepared for the surgery and what lies after that. Try and stay positive, with your mind on your diet everyday the time will fly by. Chin up! Good Luck!
