Please put me straight on my diet...

Okay...here goes. Friday: The "sweet" french bread, should be sugar free, and 100% whole wheat is always better. Salami is loaded with fat. Try a leaner meat. If it's to dry, add a little moisture without adding fat. A nice mustard maybe? The cheese (gouda) is okay. The potato augratin with cream... Cream is very high in fat. Can you substitute 2% milk? the salad is very good. Saturday: Again, watch the sugar in the brioche. Maybe limit the bread to once a day. The moule marnier is an excellent Protein. So is the fois gras, just a little high in fat, but you didn't eat a lot, so that's good. Limit wine to one glass per day? Alcohol is a lot of empty calories. the ice cream desert... Sounds wonderful. Nuts have some good protein, but they are high in fat. So is the ice cream unless you were able to get fat free ice cream. The meringue isn't to bad. It's mostly egg whites and air with a touch of sugar. I would add some more vegetables. Sunday: Again... no vegetables. The mussels are an excellent source of protein. Limit the bread. Croissants are made with butter. High in fat. Monday: Other than the chocolate bar, this looked like a good day, although it appears you may not have eaten enough. One meal a day will leave you hungry. The curry sounds wonderful. I love curry, and it helps moisten any meat. It's easy to stew things in curry without adding calories. the prawns are an excellent source of protein. If you like it, by all means continue. Yesterday: This was a lot of carbs. I too love crisps and find them very difficult to avoid. I didn't see any lean meat or vegetables. The cheese and tomatoes in the lasagna is good, but you had noodles twice. To many carbs. Today: sounds delicious. This was your best day. Yogurt with a little fruit was good. Root vegetable soup. Very good. (just remember, root vegetables are higher in carbs than other vegetables) chicken breast with cabbage. Very good. Just watch the wine. I don't know where you are from, so finding vegetables may be a problem, but some of your dishes sound wonderful.
  4. I'm almost 8 weeks out and I haven't tried bread yet. I'm scared to. Everyone on here talks about how bad it hurts for bread to get stuck, so I'm afraid to try.....

    Confused....

My 10 cc band was filled to 4 cc at time of surgery, so I have a little restriction. It's not a lot, but I do feel it. I'm almost 8 weeks out and have lost 26 pounds. I find out tomorrow if I get another fill or not.
  6. Andrea I'm having the same issue. I am also 7 weeks (almost 8) out. I've lost 26 pounds, with no loss the last two weeks. I'm fine at breakfast and lunch, but dinner is a problem for me. I eat probably more than I should, and also way to fast. I think if I slowed down, I would fill up easier. I also don't feel "full" when I'm eating. I finish my plate and feel fine, then an hour later my tummy hurts BAD. this is now happening every night. It's weird. It doesn't seem to matter how much I eat either. It hurts whether I stick to the plan or eat more than I should. I wish I was getting this overfull sensation WHILE I was eating. It would make pushing the plate away easier. This NEVER happens in the morning or at lunch. I'm not sure what to think.

    Wrong of me?

Remember.... If you then go back to your surgeon for an additional fill, he won't know exactly what your regular doctor did, and then you run the risk of an overfill, which will make you miserable.

    Sick...sick...sick

I had vertigo so bad I couldn't walk or stand with my eyes closed. I fell in the shower shampooing my hair, and fell getting out of bed. It can be dangerous. Go back to that assh*** and tell him you need to be looked at for vertigo, and take a written complaint with you to be filed. Poor thing. I hope you feel better soon.

    drinking alcohol

I too stick to wine. My doctor said no carbonation of ANY kind, so I regretfully gave up my beer. I probably won't really miss it until summer. Nothing better on a hot day than an ice cold beer.... the wine did buzz me pretty fast. I also got a little dehydrated so I had to increase my water consumption. Be sure to watch your calories the next couple days.

    Losing weight.......and friends

Jealousy is a nasty business isn't it? I think it's pathetic that some would be so jealous of this girls success, that they would ostrasize her for it. My opinion? If that's the type of people she had for friends, she didn't need them.
  11. My doctor didn't say not bras. My incisions were not a problem. There was one central one, that was up high, that only bothered me when I was sitting down. I just put a piece of gauze over it and it was fine. When standing, the incision was about an inch or two below the bra line. I can't stand the feeling of going braless. When I was much younger, thinner and had perky girls, I didn't mind. But these big heavy drooping things are gross. I can't wait for them to shrink back to normal.

    What the??????

I had SEVERAL of these little things. The doctor cut the first one, then when I called him back and told him I had more, he said to leave them alone they would eventually fall out on their own once they dissolve inside. They did but it took about 6 - 7 weeks. Since I wasn't completely "closed up" with that suture hanging out, I refrained from getting in the pool or hot tub to avoid infection. I kept the spots very clean. One healed over and got a little pussy, like a tiny pimple, but it popped back out and went away. Don't worry. Just keep them clean.
  13. I lost 26 pounds the first 6 weeks. I'm now at 8 weeks and haven't lost another ounce. I've cut back on calories and WAY upped my exercise regimin, and NOTHING. I'm disgusted, but I have an appointment tomorrow. I will probably get my first fill, but I can't imagine eating less than I am. I did a calorie count the last two days and I'm at about 700-800 calories. How is that possible?

    Night time snacking problem...help!

I'm right there with all of you. I exercise after work, so I don't get home until 7:15. By then I'm ravenous. I haven't eaten since noon, and I still have to wait to cook dinner. I want to snack while I'm cooking. The kitchen smells drive me insane. I try to eat a cube of cheese, or a slice of deli turkey, but sometimes I can't control the grab for a potato chip or some crackers. It's awful. Water does not help. When I'm that hungry, it just makes me nauseous, and if I drink that late in the day, I'm up all night peeing and get no sleep at all. this is by far my worst problem.

    Yummy chicken sausage!

I use the tomato and basil Chicken sausage to make a cabbage and sausage quiche. Use low fat cheese and condensed skim milk instead of regular cheese and cream. Shredded cabbage and chopped green onions along with the cheese and sausage..... It's awesome!!! High in protein, delicious...my whole family likes it, and low calorie. YUM

    Tiny Expensive Crab pack

Lamb chops on the grill are awesome. The garlic and the rosemary placed in slits in the leg as mentioned above is the best way to cook a leg. The left over lamb also makes a wonderful lamb and lentil stew in the crock pot, so save the gravey/juices or drippings from the roasting pan! If you like curry, left over lamb also makes a very nice curry. Personally, I like my leg of lamb and my chops cooked medium to medium rare. I've NEVER seen it cooked or served well done. It's easier to chew that way and less dry. True, Americans don't typically like lamb, but I've found it's because they don't know how to cook it. I'm of French decent, and lamb was always a holiday and Sunday dinner favorite. I lived on a cattle/sheep ranch in New Mexico for 3 years and had all the lamb I wanted. It was heaven. I now live in Corpus Christi, Texas and can get it at the grocery very easily, but man is it pricey!!
  17. I was getting VERY bored walking around a track. I was finding excuses not to go. I was very happy when I was able to swim and add some machines and Salsa dancing....It feels great and I'm making loads of new friends.
  18. Walked right away. No weights for 6 weeks. No swimming until incisions were COMPLETELY healed. I'm 7 weeks out and started with a trainer last week. I also started swimming last week, as one of my incisions pulled apart a couple weeks after surgery when I went Christmas shopping and lifted WAY to many gifts. My incisions also started spitting sutures, so I had to wait longer than I wanted to. I was told I can do anything I want as long as it doesn't put undue pressure on my port site. My deep Water aerobics class requires a belt, but it has to be cinched up so tight to not ride up, that it hurts my port. I hope this is temporary, as the workout is incredible!

    waking up after surgery

I have had surgery numerous times, and I have always remembered waking up in the recovery room. It was never that bad. One time, I was convinced I was in Canada, and demanded to know how I got there and who had kidnapped me. Good laugh all around..... But after lap band surgery I have absolutely no recollection of waking up in the recovery room. I also don't remember them bringing me back to my room. My husband said I was awake when I came back, but was mumbling incoherently. That was not my normal surgery experience. But when I finally became conscious of my surroundings it was about 3 hours later. Surgery only took 45 minutes, so I was pretty out of it. I felt fine though. I had no pain until I tried to roll over to get out of bed to pee. that was uncomfortable, but once they explained my self administered morphine button, I was fine. I went home the next morning and didn't even need my pain meds. I was able to control that with tylenol.
  20. I waited 4 weeks. When you do, remember that alcohol tends to dehydrate you a bit. So increase your water consumption. I have noticed that I'm tighter in the evenings after a stressful day. The half glass of wine on those days, loosens it back up and I'm able to eat normally. I just don't do it every day. I was banded on Nov. 19th and have only done this about 5 times. Lots of empty calories......

    Oatmeal Question

I also eat the Quaker Weight control oatmeal. The banana bread flavor is awesome. It has a little protein in it and is sugar free and I add an extra half scoop of protein powder. It stays with me all morning. It's also good for your cholesterol.
  22. I'm 7 weeks post op and have not had a fill yet. I've lost 26 pounds. I'm at a plateau now though, I'm getting a small fill my next appointment. I have a 10cc band and had 4cc put in at time of surgery. I do have a little restriction, but not much.
  23. Personally, a lot of this doesn't sound medically ethical. If it was me, I would be on the phone finding out where I could file formal complaints against the doctor and the surgeon, not to mention the hospital that refused you. The medical board needs to be made aware of all this. Things won't change for the better, if they don't know it's happening. If you have a lawyer, I'd call them too. Your life was in jeapordy. A potential lawsuit gets things changed in record time.

    Are these bones?

My skinny son has a bone there. It's been "normal" for him, so I guess it is for you too. Isn't it awesome to see bones you didn't know you had or forgot you had?
  25. Mine healed pretty well, but they seem to have gotten darker in color as they got older. they went from pink to purple. That's wierd for me. Other scars I have turned white. Is it just to soon? I'm 7 weeks out.
