    Lunch from "Heck"...Dang sliming!

Hey weightisover!!! Thanks for the "ah ha" moment. I'm in Corpus Christi and Ike is headed this way. I know the barometer is fluctuating but it never occured to me that it could affect my band. I had yogurt for breakfast this morning, and I felt tight. I've never had that happen before. It never occured to me that it could be the BAD weather coming. thanks for bringing that up!

    Weight gain after gallbladder surgery

Ditto with Jeni. I had my gallbladder out on August 5th. I had complications with stones in my bile ducts and had a second surgery on the 7th. I was in the hospital for 5 days and lost 7 pounds in 5 days. Since then I have gained 3 of those 7 pounds back. I too feel hungry, BUT I had to be completely unfilled for my surgeries. I have had one fill since, but I've had to start all over again. He could not fill me back to the same fill level all at once. I was so disappointed. So I went for two weeks with no fill at all, and then got 4 of my original 5.5. So I'm still not where I was. Considering that, I feel fortunate that I only gained back 3 pounds. My blood pressure seems to be my problem. I can't get it to go back down since my surgery. I almost had a stroke in the hospital as well. It makes no sense at all. I was almost down to a completely normal blood pressure and was just about to get completely off blood pressure meds when all this happened. Now it's high again, and I've had to double the meds back to where I was before I was even banded. I'm worried an confused. What does surgery have to do with it???

What kind of margarine/mayo do you use?

Mayo makes me sick. Just the smell of it turns my stomach. I'm a Miracle Whip die hard. Nothing else...... I also don't do margarine. If I need fat for cooking it's either extra virgin olive oil or pure, real butter. I don't eat it often enough for it to matter, but I don't compromise on that either. I hate artificial anything. I don't do artificial sweetners either. We eat enough processed crap/chemicals in our diets without my adding to it......

    Greek Yogurt???

I found it tastes good, but the consistancy is so thick, creamy and gloppy, it kind of gags me. Is there a low fat version? I haven't seen it, but I have to beleive it exists somewhere.....

    Bladder Infections.

LOL. I had to bust out laughing when I read this post!! I was banded almost 10 months ago. It was just in the last two months that we started having marathon sex again. Not that I'm complaining mind you....... but I had a problem with this over the weekend. I was drinking cranberry juice three times a day in addition to my water. I have my Azo on standby, and a prescription for antibiotics as well. It's been years since I've had to worry about this..... Glory be!!!! My how things change.

Viagra in his suitcase before trip

I have several thoughts on this. First. It could very well be that you caught him before anything actually happened. He never got the chance.... Not likely..... but possible. If he's having a problem "getting it up" to begin with, it may have been an experiment for him, to see if it's you, or if it's purely physical. Men want to deny that it's them. My husband did. It's easier for them to deal with if they think the reason is your fault. He may have wanted to clarify the situation. Next. He lied. You caught him at it. Regardless, he has that to explain at the very least. How will you trust him if he's a liar? I also hate to bring this up, but if this HAS been going on for a while, you need to get to a doctor and have yourself checked for a variety of venereal diseases. It's not pretty to think about, and I do not want to hurt you any more than you've already been hurt, but you have to think of this. Why would he pack the pills but not condoms? That concerns me. My heart is breaking for you, and you do indeed have a lot to think about. He has a lot of explaining to do. Not only to you, but to himself. His behavior is inexcuseable. I'm so very sorry. Be brave, but stick to your guns.

    What's for dinner?

Tonight we're having stuffed patty pan squash. I brown some bulk sausage and onions and drain it really well. I make some stuffing mix and mix the sausage with the mix. I hollow out a patty pan squash (looks like a turban) or I use a large zuccini and and steam it in salted water until tender. Scoop out the seeds and discard. Stuff with the sausage mix. Pour Prego tomato sauce over the top and sprinkle with mozarella and parmesan cheese and bake until golden brown and bubbly. DELICIOUS and goes down easy. It's fairly soft. It's become a familiy favorite.

    Forgotten birthday

For some reason, my DH usually remembers my birthday. We usually go out to eat, but he thinks cards are dumb. I get one probably 50% of the time. I usually get a gift as well, but NEVER on the actual day. I always hold my breath on my gifts. I never know what I'll get. He certainly isn't consistant. I'll get anything from a spoon rest and oven mit to a string of pearls. (Literally.... I'm not exagerating) I don't always get a gift on our anniversary either, but we ALWAYS try to sneak away for a night or a weekend, just the two of us. That to me is the nicest gift he could give me. I just have to have a sense of humor about it all.......
  14. My knees bang together when I sleep now too. Sometimes it gets very uncomfortable and I have to reposition my body pillow. I've also noticed that since I don't have "fat feet" anymore, it's a lot harder to stand in heels for any length of time. I don't have the fat pads on the bottom of my feet.
  15. and here I thought it was for "darling husband".....LOL I've been married 18 years. I was thin (138 lbs.) when we married. So my DH has known me thin. We were also high school sweethearts that didn't marry until we were 31 and 32. (Long story). I was 120 lbs. in high school!! He never really said much about me gaining weight. He loved me regardless, although the sex part got less and less. Now that I've lost a good bit, the sex part is awesome once again. Initially, he was very supportive and still is, very much so, but he has made comments about other men wanting me. At first we would laugh about it. I found the whole idea preposterous and very funny at my age..... Well, the thinner I got, the less funny he found it. He doesn't laugh about it anymore. So I think he feels it's a very real threat. So I don't mention it. But I think that's why the sex got so good. He subconciously wants me to be completely satisfied so I don't "stray". Good heavens. It still seems so silly, but I understand it's very real for him. I try to be sensitive to his feelings.

    Under Eye Fat Pockets

sometimes....under eye puffiness is from other medical conditions. Not necessarily "fat". This can include things like allergies, liver disease, etc.

    Out-of-Pocket Expense...

My entire hospital expense was paid at 100%. I didn't pay a dime. My surgeon was $6,000. The insurance paid 80% since he was out of network, so I got a medical loan for the $1200. I ended up paying it off, as my surgeon didn't expect to be paid so well from my insurance, and he ended up writing it off. She he paid me back and I paid of the loan the following month. It didn't cost me a thing.....
  18. I don't know what it was called, but they did make me drink the white yucky stuff and x-ray me to watch it go down. Is that an upper GI? The stuff wasn't nearly as bad as it was years ago. I had it the day after surgery, before I was allowed to go home.

    "Real Food"

I ate creamed spinach, spinach quiche and spinach soufflee during the mushie stage. I didn't have any problems because it was chopped.
  20. dry roasted nuts....cheese sticks....hard boiled eggs...snack size can of beans (These will fit in your purse, so the hot car won't be to big of an issue) Also carrot sticks in the snack bags, fresh fruit, a small can of V8 juice. (They only have 30 calories, and I LOVE them... I take them everywhere)

    Good Lentil recipes?

I make lentil stew in my crockpot as well. I love lamb. My DH hates it so there is alwayas left over. Actually, using it in the stew after it's been roasted gives it a better flavor. I just dump in all the ingredients in the morning, cover and when I get home, dinner is done. I put in the pot: left over lamb and bones lentils carrots, celery and onion - chopped 2 new potatoes - chopped parsley, thyme and bay leaf cooking sherry 5 gloves crushed garlic salt and pepper 1 beef bouillon cube Water
  22. What a GREAT idea!!!!!!! CHOPSTICKS!!!! I know how to use them and do when I'm out for Chinese, but it never occured to me to use them at home to help me slow down. I get nasty hiccups all the time because I tend to eat to fast. THANK YOU!!! What an awesome tip!

    Eating Meat?

After a lot of trial and error, I have found that it's white meat turkey and chicken that gives me fits. It tends to be more dry and fiberous. I just can't seem to chew it to the right consistancy. This is not 100% of the time, but enough to make me avoid it. I will attempt it in a pinch. I just have to be careful. I've only PB twice in 9 months and once was on chicken. The sliming has happened several times from chicken. but not every time.....I have no problem what so ever with dark meat. I do great with a steak or a lamb chop, but it has to be medium rare. If it's overcooked, I can't chew it. It wads up in a ball and I want to gag. You just have to experiment. Like I said. Trial and error.

    Olive Garden NOT accomadating!!

typically, the kids menu has junk I wouldn't eat anyway. Grilled cheese? chicken nuggets? Yuck. Half the time I order an appetizer instead, or just order the entire meal and take it home. I have two grown boys who LOVE my left overs. As far as they're concerned, this whole LapBand thing is a sweet deal!! LOL

    losing weight means losing boobs?!

Every other time in my life when I have lost weight (and that is many times) I always lost in my boobs first. They would shrivel right up. At my normal weight I used to wear a 34 B. At the time I was banded I wore a 42 DD. Currently I'm in a 38 D and it's to loose around the ribs, but the cups still fit fine. This is the first time I've ever retained my cup size with a big weight loss. Personally, I would rather be a 34 B again. I was comfortable with that. My husband would disagree, of course, but I prefer to have less to carry around.
