This sounds heavenly. Just my speed!!! I'm definitely going to try it. I have a recipe for turkey sausage and cabbage quiche that is to die for. I thought it sounded wierd when I heard of it, but it's the best ever!! I'll post the recipe this week.

I can't eat it. It tends to be more "gloppy" than regular yogurt like Yoplait. I can't handle the texture. It sticks in the back of my throat and makes me want to gag. It tastes wonderful, it's just to thick.

Chills and feeling cold is a normal reaction to the band and losing weight. If you have a fever, of course that would indicate that you are ill, but if you're just cold, that is normal. We all get that. You will be cold a lot more and a lot more often now that you'll be losing weight. We're losing all that unsightly "insulation". LOL

HCG shots, B12, Choline, Inositol Shots and Metformin??

As close as you are to goal, that is going to happen. Sad but true. You will HAVE to step up the exercise regimine or at least change up your routine. Don't cut calories. Sometimes that works in the reverse. Your metabolism will shut down. Change up your diet too. Instead of steady calories go a day under, several days on target and splurge one day. Confuse the metabolsim. I lose better that way. It's worth a try before you go to the expense of the shots. I got the band so I wouldn't have to do that crap. change it up. -

Could be a reaction to the extra dairy. My sister had a lactose intolerance her whole life and only recently found out about it at age 43. So it can go undetected for a while if you are used to the symptoms..... I would call the doctor. It could be several things. Did you try some gas-X? I've had to do that a few times over the last year or so. Sometimes it gets trapped, but usually that hurts. A blockage? Best to consult with your doc. -
I turn 50 this summer. In celebration of that and my weight loss, I've decided to take the plunge and get a tat. At first my husband blew a gasket. Now that he's getting used to the idea, he finally asked what I was going to get. I want a fairy setting down on a blooming lotus flower. To represent my magic "transformation".

How darling. Kids make life so much fun. So do our furry friends. When I returned from the hospital, my dog kept sniffing my tummy and would put her head in my lap and whimper. She was very aware that I had been "injured". It amazes me how they know.

My tummy is CRAZY NOISY!! It makes all kinds of noises. The more restriction, the more noise. It can get pretty embarrassing. I also burp A LOT more. That doesn't help. My DH is so funny. Such a comic. Now when the noises start, or I burp, he looks out the blinds like it's coming from outside and pretends to look for tresspassers. LOL

You're going to have so much fun. After a while it becomes like an addiction. You just want more and more. Herbs grow well in a sunny window as well. A window sill planter will work nicely.

My doc told me that as we lose, our thyroid levels are adjsuting to the new weight. Since we are losing a lot, it's in constant flux. Your thyroid is what regulate body tempurature, and thyroid hormones are stored in fat. As we lose, we lose thyroid. It tends to adjust itself, but some people have trouble and can't do for themselves. You may have to have it checked. I've had to reduce my thyroid meds twice since surgery. Once you level out, and your body catches up, you should adjust, but it will take a few months at a constant weight. I'm cold now too, but it finally seems to be improving a little.

LOL I have so many stretch marks on my tummy from obesity and child bearing that my Lap Band scars are a non issue. They have faded to almost nothing and are hardly noticable next to all the stretch marks!!!! It just looks like one more...... I am thankful that mine are flat and not raised. Even when hubby rubs my belly, he can't tell a thing.

I had to switch to smaller petite size calcium pills, I take chewable multiples, rapid release tylenol that melts faster, and I melt my Omega 3 horse pills in my hot coffee in the morning. I remove the glycerin casing remains and sip the oil off the top. Gross, I know, but only the first sip is horrible. My thyroid and BP medication is small enough not to cause a problem.

I LOVE the analogy to anabuse. That was so cute!! I never would have thought to compare it to that, but it was very clever. I'll have to tell my surgeon that next month when I go for my check up. He always shakes his head at my sick sense of humor. I'll give you credit though!!!!

I live in south Texas, so guacamole was always a staple for me...... Even refried beans. Mashed potatoes? Applesauce, Flan, souffle, egg drop soup, stuffed shells (I ate the cheese out the middle), spinach quiche, I can't think of any more.

Tomatoes grow great in pots. They like the sun. I've had good luck with bell peppers in pots too. go to the Lowe's and see if you can find those elongated, long rectangular planters. They are good for the peppers. I've grown a lot of herbs. I have had the best luck with rosemary (it grows FAST), mint planted near a drippy faucet, (it likes to be moist and wet and I can't live without my mint tea, and mojitos!!!), and sweet basil. Other stuff I planted didn't do as well. thyme and oregano was "okay", but the dill was a disaster. If you do put up an umbrella for some partial shade, try some spinach or green Beans in those long pots. Even green onions. It doesn't grow very tall. Doesn't need a lot of soil.

don't worry to much about the scars. They fade over time, and in dim light won't show much at all. Not that he would even be looking at your SCARS!!!!! I would also wait until you've gone out several times to tell him about your surgery. Let him define you as YOU first, and then tell him that, so the surgery is not a major portion of how he sees you. If he's a really great guy, he'll respect you for taking control of your life and doing what was good for you. That speaks volumes about your character if received by the right person. I always felt that picking at my food and ordering a to go box was more "feminine" than shoveling mass quantities of food in your face anyway. No need to explain being "dainty".

I've never been told to quit drinking coffee. Matter of fact, it, and tea were on my clear liquid list right after banding. I've heard that depending on brewing time, and the type of tea, that it actually has more caffeine than coffee.

Actually, I have heard just the opposite. My doctor encourages milk. It just has to be 1% or skim. I also use fat free cottage cheese and sour cream. I too eat a lot of cheese. I love ricotta cheese, and those little bon belles and lite pie shaped soft cheeses that come in the round box. If I'm tight and can't eat meat, at least I can get my protein in that way. I'd worry more about a lack of calcium, vitamin D and protein than I would the minimal amount of sugar in milk.

What a trooper!!! while I'm sorry for your loss, you seem very balanced and positive about it. You will need that attitude to be successful, so I have no doubts about you! Hang tough. The hardest part is in the beginning. Once you start to shed those pounds, the self image will become positive and you will have a NEW life to look forward to. Good luck to you. -
I liked whipped sweet potatoes, butternut squash, unsweetened applesauce, (they have all kinds of flavors now) mashed avocado, mashed bananas, refried beans with fat free sour cream, egg drop soup, creamed spinach, cream of wheat, cottage cheese, ricotta cheese with prego sauce and parmesan cheese (baked..... YUMMMMMMM), souffle, crustless quiche (recipe in the Weight Watcher's cookbook).

My doctor told me no popcorn..... I went probably a year without it and by then was doing so well with eating, I thought I would try it. A few times at the movies I nibbled on hubby's popcorn. I would put in one piece at at time and let it dissolve in my mouth. It forced me to eat it slow. I did just fine. Well, yesterday I made a bag of it at home. I ate it just fine. Ate the whole bag unfortunately, but about 20 minutes after I ate it I had the worst stomach pain. It was not "stuck" per se, and I didn't slime or PB. It just HURT. I thought maybe it had swelled up in my pouch or something. It hurt so bad I swore never to do it again. Now I know why my doc said no popcorn.

Chicken is tough for me, so I usually order just about what I want, except chicken. I eat a few bites of everything and I'm a happy camper. Sometimes if I'm not real hungry, I'll order an appetizer instead of a meal. It's just about the right amount, but not eveyone has healthy appetizers. I stay away from the bread, rice and potatoes (unless they have brown rice or sweet potatoes) and the dessert, and take the leftovers home. If all else fails, I order soup.

Question about dieting and blurred vision?
aubrie replied to Merced's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This is so interesting. I have recently had to have my mouth outfitted with a gaurd to wear at night. I'm almost 50 years old and have never clenched my teeth. Now I have started waking up with sore teeth from clenching. I couldn't figure this out. I also started having stabbing pain in my eye balls. Out of the blue. Do you think my caloric intake or blood sugar levels are causing this? I've been getting light headed and "spacey" a lot too, but I thought this was my blood pressure dropping as I lost weight. I've already had my dose adjusted twice. -
Make your own veggie broth. Think of the possibilities. I was only on clears for 4 days, and then on full liquids for 7. Once on full liquids I went to town on the cream soups. The health food store had so many awesome flavors to choose from. I didn't feel slighted in the least. that's also when I started on the egg drop soup for the protein. I LOVE the stuff. Those yogurt smoothies at the grocery were nice too. Once I got to mushies I was real creative.

dry, tough, chewy or overcooked meat. It KILLS me. If it's tender or has a sauce, I'm fine. Doughy white bread. Yuck. If it's toasted or whole grain I'm fine. Every once in a while I have a problem with strawberries.... wierd I know...carbonation of any kind..... I had three sips of champagne on New Years Eve and thought I was going to die. Never again. I burped like a fog horn for three hours. I've been able to eat popcorn up until this past weekend. I guess I ate to much coz it swelled up in my pouch and hurt like hell. Not worth the pain. So far that's it. If I take my time and limit the amount, I can usually eat just about anything.
