    Where are the 50s ???

Good morning.....now i remember! I'm laughing because I'm 5"31/2 and often say I'm 5'4" too! I'm just about to turn 59; was sleeved last year 5 days after my 58th BD. I just hit my goal weight yesterday! (Posted that and my moment of truth story on my weekly blog: www.queenofcrop.com It's the top of the range (141 according to the CDC) but my real goal is to make it into the 130's and bounce around in there and use 140 as my cut off weight....if I hit that I need to cut back, exercise more, yadayada.... Keep in touch....how interesting that you will be sleeved the same month as me too! Good sign! QofC

    Where are the 50s ???

Aloha Debin AZ: Wow not only are we about the same height and the same weight when I went into surgery but our surgery dates are almost the same too...(but one year apart!). You're in for such a great year! QofC
  4. How interesting is this....I woke up this morning, weighed myself and saw that I had reached my goal weight (meaning according to the CDC I am of NORMAL weight) and then I logged on to my email and received a HAPPY ANNIVERSARY email from Alex here on the forum.....I had signed up for the VST talk exactly ONE YEAR TO THE DAY I REACHED MY GOAL WEIGHT! And 11 months after surgery.....This week last year was the most humbling, difficult week of my life.....I posted the details on my Sunday blog today; it was my final AHA moment.....check it out if you want to see how I started the most interesting year of my life....just click on the link below my signature. Thanks Alex and all of you on the forum for being there for me this past year!!!

    40 Kilos Or 88 Lbs

I took some clothes to the tailor last week and I asked her to take them in fairly tight....she said, "what if you gain weight again?" I said, well, I don't think that will happen and in fact, I'll probably lost 5 to 10 more.....such a nice feeling. Oh, and I reached the top range of my goal weight yesterday!
  6. I am so happy my surgeon talked me out of the lap band and into the sleeve! I was sleeved 11 months ago (at age 58) and today (exactly one year to the day I signed up for this forum!) I hit goal weight! I've never looked back and have never been happier. If you are on the fence, keep reading this forum, asking questions, reading one or two or three blogs regularly and then at some point, you will know you are ready or if it's right for you. For me, there was no other option and I have just had the most fascinating journey of my life. I wrote about it on my blog today. Yes, only you can decide, but I can tell you, I was ready long before I decided and once I did there was no stopping my enthusiasm for this wonderful choice we now have presented to us. It's a gift for a better, longer life.
  7. Aloha Tipntx: Not yet; we leave Hawaii next Sunday to relocate to Amsterdam permanently. Are you there?
  8. Thank God I was talked out of the sleeve by my surgeon. I was sleeved (at age 58) 11 months ago and just reached my goal weight today!!!!! Good luck to all of you.
  9. If you are on the fence whether or not this is right for you, then i strongly encourage you to read as much as you can on this forum and then pick one or two or three blogs and follow them. I signed up for the forum exactly one year ago today and it has been my lifeline. A month after reading the blog I had the surgery and now 11 months later, today in fact, I have reached my goal weight after losing 82 lbs! I am 58 years old and now in great health. No more high cholesterol, no more HBP, no bad knees or feet and perfect lab work. It was because of this forum and a blog I found that I was encouraged to have the surgery and write my own Sunday blog www.queenofcrop.com/about It's been the best year of my life. What are you waiting for?
  10. When I read interesting posts from interesting people, I always like to know more about them....so I go to the profile and it's amazing how often (I would say 8 or 9 times out of 10) that people here have not completed their profile or added photos....not trying to be nosy, but this is interesting stuff and I feel like we are a hui (group) of people with common interests, challenges and questions. This forum has helped me beyond my expectations (I was sleeved in Germany and have been living in Hawaii.....so not exactly convenient), plus I never had a nutritionist. So I come here for lots of information. Have 'friended' many but it's just nice to know where people started and see a photo. So just my little request....that and also, be sure you have your SIGNATURES turned on (if you are not seeing my signature and link to my blog below then that means you aren't seeing anyone's signature or ticker tapes....I had mine off unknowingly for a long time). Go to your name/settings/NewsFeed and check the box towards the bottom that says Display Signature Changes. I love this community and just want to know more about people!

    40 Kilos Or 88 Lbs

Aloha SummerGirl.....congratulations on your 34 lbs! That's huge. I know when I was at 193 I was feeling pretty svelte.....everything is relative; I thought that if I could just get in the 150's I would be in heaven...and I was, but then I got into the 140's and now I think the 130's are very doable. Take your time; I have been blogging every Sunday for 11 months and it has taken me this long to get to goal....(almost there, within 1 lb.....could happen this Sunday!!!). It you average my weight loss out it comes to less than 2 lbs a week and that has worked out well for me! Eating 8 oz though does seem like a lot; I'd check with your dr or nut about it. I still can't eat that much and I certainly couldn't at 3 months out.

    Plantar Fascitis

YESYESYES!!!! It might go away! Mine did.....my 'AHA' moment was exactly one year ago this month when I was in Amsterdam (where you walk everywhere and the women are stunningly beautiful). I was over 200 lbs, I had PF (had to ice my feet every night) then my hip went out, my knees went out and my husband flipped OUT wondering how he ended up with the fattest, limping woman in Holland! One month later, on Oct 25 I was sleeved in Germany. Today I have no feet or knee pain (some arthritis in my hip) and I just hit my goal weight this week. So so happy I did this!!!!! I write about it each Sunday so if you want some inspiration, please visit my blog; I am happy to say I am a success story! A year ago I was a MESS!!!!

    B-12 And The Sleeve

I'm sorry I don't know the answer to this, but I do know that I take a B12 vitamin every day and I get a B12 shot once a month as per my doctor. I didn't know that it might be because the sleeve cuts away part. I was told though that you can't overdose on it; if you have too much you will just pee it out. Sounds like you need to talk with your doctor about that. Other than that, the sleeve is a dream.
  17. I had my sleeve done 3 days after my 58th BD (last October) and as of today I am 1 lb. from goal having lost 81 lbs......it's been one of the best years of my life, so think of it as the best birthday present you can give to yourself!!!! If you want an idea of what your first year might be like, take a look at my blog.(link below my signature)...I update it each Sunday and I think most will agree....progress has been made. As I near my 59th BD, I feel 39! Good luck and congratulations.

    Where are the 50s ???

Wow. I was sleeved a few days after I turned 58 (11 months ago) and was in the hospital 8 days in Germany....and happy to be there the full 8! I felt very well-taken care of. I know the hospital stays in the US are so short and I can't even imagine it. I would strongly suggest you stay in a hotel for a day or two before making the trip home. This is major surgery and even though I know they do this all the time I think you should be close to where you had it done and not 5 hours away. Just my thoughts. On the bright side, less than a month after surgery, I traveled for the next 6 months throughout Europe and the US! I blog about my journey every Sunday. If you don't have signatures turned on your profile, you should do that so you can see people's progress and blogs. Mine is www.queenofcrop.com Good luck!
  19. Aloha! Smart of you to do all your research now. Just speaking from my experience, I too was going to go for the band but when I had my consultation with the doctor (who is sort of known as the rock star of bariatric surgery in Germany) he told me I should not do the band, but to the sleeve. Reasons were that the band was not as successful, because I was over 50 and it's harder for your body to accept having something foreign in it, and the band is too much maintenance (and for me, I was traveling at the time and it would have been impossible). Also just reading the posts here on the band to sleeve revision group makes me so happy to have chosen the sleeve. Good luck and hope you get all the information you need to make a good decision for you. And keep coming back to the forum; people here are very happy to help. Queen of Crop www.queenofcrop.com
  20. Well who knew???? After 10 months of weighing myself every morning as soon as I woke up and had my coffee but after I took my pajamas off I would weigh myself thinking this was the best time of day (to get the lowest weight). Well my husband said, no, the best time is after you've exercised (even though I have 2 cups of coffee before I go out). Sure enough, the scale is 1/2 lb to 1 lb lower after I exercise! So that's my tip of the day.....I'll take it any way I can get it! (Another incentive to work out too!)

    Husband Is Confused...

To iggychic: Personally I think your response was rude. The poster came here for support and yes, maybe some advice, but she (or anyone here) doesn't need to be lectured or judged or compared to your marriage. (And by the way, many many couples can't afford housekeepers). Only she can decide what's right for her and her marriage. Lighten up and try being a little more empathetic.

    I Forgot - I Think .. Now What Do I Do?

How do you live without those plastic containers that have the days of the week on them? Every morning I take them out of the day we are in and put them on the counter (in cute little soy sauce dishes). I use two as I was told to take my calcium at night. They sit there until after breakfast has digested a bit then I take them between breakfast and lunch. But without the MTWTHFSS container, I'd be lost! You can get them in the grocery store or any drug store. I take a multi, fish oil, Biotin, Vit D, B12, and Glucosomine in the morning and two calcium at night. Once in while I forget but I don't stress about it.
  23. For me, it's taken me 10 months to handle any sort of noodle. I haven't tried Pasta for a while, but twice this week I had wheat noodles in Saimin and a Hawaiian noodle dish (similar to chow mein). You'll laugh when you see how large the portion is and how little I ate, just know that every bite was heaven, I felt very satisfied when I was done, and now have leftovers for the next week! Photos are on my Sunday blog at www.queenofcrop.com I have been told that it's helpful to see what other people are eating so here ya go! I know I would have wanted to know before I was sleeved.
  24. To Butterfly: No to Saipan! I just love to eat Saimin! (Hawaiian version of chow mein).
  25. This is why I posted this; because I wasn't sure I would ever be able to eat noodles or pasta again. I was the same way up until now, so just know at some point in the future you might be able to. Just venture in lightly. Still can't eat rice but maybe in a few more months.
