  1. Some people can. I know a couple that have no issues, I can't. I use to have a nasty diet coke habit before surgery 5-6 cans a day easily. Now I can't even drink a whole can. Just a couple sips and I am hurting. I keep trying because I really believe diet coke is refreshing but even a sip will make me very nauseous. I can't have anything with carbonation yet. So it all depends on your sleeve.

  2. Family sucks. My mom asked what I wanted for Easter since chocolate is not an option so I asked for an Amazon gc for books. She just sent us a huge box and it had my gc but over 5 different godiva truffle kinds. I couldn't believe it and when I called her she said I am too uptight that its a holiday and to enjoy it or I will get white hair and wrinkles. Uh yeah I am a huge fan of godiva truffles I have to stay far away from it, its the one thing I can't just eat one. I will eat all 5 bags at once. I couldn't believe her, thank God my neighbor is also a fan and have an amazing metabolism. I could have killed her though!!

  3. My kids are first grandkids on either side. Starting with Christmas they get their body weight in candy. I don't buy any candy because the rest of the family does, easter egg hunt at church, valentines exchange at school. This easter they ended up with over 4 bags of candy to add to the 2 bags of valentines candy and the half bag left from Christmas. Its sickening, so I started a deal with them. They pick about 5 pieces each to have after dinner and the rest goes to the fairy that works for candy (I either donate to their preschool or to the food banks. I had no clue food banks took candy but they do as a treat to the kids of family down on their luck). So they give me all their candy I take it and the fairy brings them each a book or small toy. Its the best thing I have come up with because if not, I couldn't even imagine what would it be like.

At their old dentist, you could take candy in and trade it for new toothbrushes or stickers or little toys.

But yeah I have to do it quickly because if not I will totally eat it. It needs to be out of the house and fast.

  4. Those are awesome ideas. Thank you so much. I had no idea Red robbin did that and chili sounds awesome. Yeah the hotel offers a hot breakfast so that I got covered. I was asking friends for tips and they think I am insane worrying so much because its just one week, but I know if I eat crap, I will feel like crap and 1 wk in a hotel with 2 kids, plus a 7 hr flight and I am doing this all alone, I definitely need to be feeling the best way possible so I don't loose my mind. Thank you so much for the ideas. I can't wait to be settled again and cook.

  5. Starting Tuesday I will be on a hotel until Sunday and then at a friends house for 1 wk until my stuff gets there (I am in the middle of a cross country move). At the hotel I made sure it had a microwave and a fridge. So I will have Protein Shakes and some cheese strings but I don't know what I can eat. Most of the lean cusines I have seen are loaded with carbs. I will stall if I go above 40 grams carbs a day. Usually I will buy a ham or chicken or steak but I wont have a stove for that first week at the hotel. I can go to mcdonalds and get a burger and only eat the inside or a chicken sandwich but what else can I eat that won't completely stall me?? Please give me ideas. I just got out of a 2 wk stalls and have only lost 4 lbs this month, I need to be really good these next couple of weeks and the stress of what to eat is getting to me.

    Thank you

  6. For the past couple days I have only drank 2 glasses of Water but I have drank over 3 venti ice coffee and a good 7 cans of Arizona diet peach tea. While I am still getting my fluids in, its not the right fluids. I suck drinking Water. I have added mio, crystal light, fruit, you name it and still have a very hard time drinking just water and now I am afraid I am going to have serious kidney problems but every time I drink water my stomach hurts.

Also I will be in a hotel next week and at a friends house the week after (in the middle of a cross country move) and I am really scared what the heck I am going to eat for those two weeks.

  7. I am a slow looser too and I think you got to change things up. What you are doing is not working, you should be loosing more. So I believe if something is not working change it up a bit don't stick to it. Add calories, lower calories, add carbs, lower carbs, add Protein, lower exercise, add exercise, add more Water, don't eat after 7pm etc until you find the right combination. For some it comes really easy, for others you got to work at it and try to find the right combination for your body. If you continue the same way you will get the same results, by changing things, you might get different results. Good luck its frustrating but you will get there.

  8. I am sorry but I have to disagree. Not everyone has amazing metabolism. I have been the same weight (give or take 10 lbs) for 10 years before I got the surgery. I use to cry to my husband all the time because every show about obesity and even the biggest looser people were sharing how they ate a whole pizza with a 2 liter bottle of soda or use to eat a big mac super size and dessert and that wasn't me. I would have easily thrown up if I tried to eat more than 2-3 slices of pizza. Never drank regular soda because it was too sweet and ate a lot of healthy stuff and still couldn't loose weight. Oh and I always ate Breakfast. I love Breakfast and even it for dinner many nights of the week, but still couldn't loose weight.

After surgery if I am in between 600-800 calories and less than 30 grams of carbs a day I can loose 2 lbs a week except that less than 30 grams of carbs a day makes me feel like I am going to faint every time I get up and with 2 small kids and a deployed husband and no family around its extremely scary and I didn't want to do that. So I changed up my diet which now consists of :

1 Protein shake in the morning, a string cheese, a lean cusine meal (which I don't even eat all of it) or some tuna with crackers or shrimp with tomatoes, another Protein Shake or a Protein Bar, and dinner is the same as lunch. I only drink diet tea because I can't handle carbonation ever since surgery and I am completely stalled. So while its great that you have this amazing metabolism and can get away with that, not everyone can and they have to be in a "diet" per say and moderation is not the key.

Heck I lost 44 so far with 38 to go and I am at 4 months post op. I have about 2 more months to loose the rest before I am out of this window. So honestly its great for you, but some of us can't indulge and still have to be on a diet.

  9. I started about 3 months post op and drink about 5 drinks a week....margaritas, malibu and gatorade, sangria, you name it. I use to drink jack and coke or redbull with vodka but now I can't drink anything carbonated because it makes my stomach feel really upset. This weekend the kids have 3 days weekend and I am flying solo and moving soon cross country. I wont be surprised if my check liver light comes on ;). The only difference now is I am a complete light weight. My tolerance from before to now is ridiculous. I can't even drive after one drink so I have to make sure I aint going anywhere if I drink.

  10. Does anyone have any experience using these?? My friend was telling me that she was ready to get a Tummy Tuck but after she used these wraps, she lost 4.5 inches and her skin is a lot firmer than before. She showed me pictures and it looks a lot better but than again she is selling for the company so I don't know how much to believe, but I could totally use all the help I can get..lol.

  11. I am 4 months out and down 43lbs. I wish it was more like high 50 or 60 and to think I still have 40 lbs until goal makes me kind of sad but the good thing is everyone is noticing it. I carried a lot of weight in my face, so that is the first thing that has gone down a lot:

    Photoon2012-01-27at0927-1.jpg

and has made everyone notice. I do like that I now fit into 14's so I can easily find clothes at places like Kohls, Ross, Old Navy and actually look good.

  12. I married my husband almost 10 years ago and I was 220. When I had surgery in Nov I was 233. He loves me for me and always have. He had a hard time with me getting the surgery because he was scared and the first couple of weeks he hovered and worried a lot. Drove me insane, but I knew its because he cared. After 2 months and no complications he completely backed off and was back to his easy going self. He does tell me I smile more often and that makes him really happy, I tell him that I didn't smile before because the fat was weigh down my cheeks and it was hard to smile, but now its easier..lol. But asides from his over protectiveness in the beginning, nope nothing has changed.

Other people on the other hand, treat me completely different. People are nicer to me, doors are held when I am walking into stores, stuff that never happened before. Which is really sad how much worse people treat fat people :(

  13. I have the same issues as feeling like I was light headed and was going to faint everytime I got up. Its not Protein its low carb. When I am doing low carb (anything under 30 grams a day) that happens. I just did a high carb couple of days without changing anything (no less than 50grams a day) and it completely went away and I kept protein the same. So try upping your carbs and see if it goes away. Good luck.

  14. Relax. Some people will drop weight easily while breast feeding, others their body will hold everything until you are done breast feeding. I know a lot of woman that will not loose one ounce while breast feeding. After they wean, they drop 20-30 lbs easily. So just keep an eye on your carbs, eat protein/veggies. Exercise and give it time. Do make sure you are drinking lots of fluids or that can mess up your supply. Good luck.

  15. I get a fish fillet from mcdonalds and eat only the inside and a couple of the kids fries.

    Taco bell a soft taco

Red lobster I get a feast and have food for various meals.

    I love Friday's ribs.

Denny's I usually get an omelet and some fruit.< /p>

Chipotle I get a veggie bowl or a bowl with no rice. Again I have like 3-4 meals in that.

Subways I get a 6 inch with the bread pulled out.

That is it. I have tried chick fil a but everything there makes me sick now I don't know why. The Soup is the only thing I can handle it and I hate it because before I use to love that place.

  16. I was extremely depressed in the beginning, OMG what the heck did I do, why did this get to this point, I am never going to be able to sit down and have a meal with my family, this is the biggest mistake of my life, if I get sick one more time I am going to loose it, I just want to feel normal.

Give it time. I know I know its hard but each and every day things get better. You start to be able to drink more, eat more, more often and variety, and you start to loose weight. By the 1st month you will see. Just hang in there and know you are not alone and its completely normal for some of us. Good luck.

  17. Eating. In the beginning was not being able to eat anything and the head hunger and psychological mess of watching everyone eat around me and not being able to.

Now 4 months out is eating but for different reasons. I am rarely hungry, nothing sounds good and to having to force myself to eat is just as bad.

Also the not being able to drink while eating or right after. I still can't and its a very hard habit to break and every so often I end up trying to drink while eating out of habit and really pay for it.
