  1. I had some of the same fears, buyers remorse a couple days out, mostly emotional things, but it all passed. I am down 21 lbs in almost 6 weeks and even though I am loosing slowly, its 21 lbs I never have to see again. It will work, your stomach can't hold what it used to anymore. I had some of the same fears in regard to my children. I want to be there for them and I realize I wasn't. I was depressed, miserable, always tired, that is no way to live. One of the reasons why I chose to have the surgery. Also I chose to have this one because of the success rate and the fact it improves your quality of life. Its very rare to see anyone with any issues with this procedure but I see it a lot more with the bypass and the lap band, well its iffy if it works or not. If it was that great it would work for everyone and not that many people would be having a reversal and having this one instead and I have researched the heck out of it and haven't found one person in which this surgery didn't work for. It might have worked slower for some than others, but everyone reaches their goal. Every one. That was enough for me. You will be fine and pretty soon be on this side loosing and being happy about life and a better mother
  2. I have been loosing slowly. I haven't stalled yet. Thank God but have lost 20 lbs in 5 wks. Kind on the slow side. My husband kept pushing me to take a picture to compare from before because he can totally see the difference. I never liked pictures that much but decided to do one today and OMG. I am shocked. Ignore the craze eyes and the chapped lips. Its El Paso, no amount of Chapstick helps me. So for anyone worried take pictures. Its the best thing ever. I mean I see this face every morning in the mirror but it wasn't until I compared the pictures that I realized the difference.

    Nervous About Mexico

I am a real patient of Dr Almanza. I went through the same feelings, but researched the heck out of it and made the best decision possible and I was very happy with the care I received. Best of luck.

    Super Saturday Weigh In

OMg how similar are. I am checking in at 212. Started at 233 and tomorrow I will hit 6 wks. I also can't wait to get out of the 200's.
  5. I think you need to be careful with taking in 50 grams of Protein for dinner. Your body can't really absorb more than 25 or so at a time. Add a couple of laughing cow cheeses for Snacks, some Peanut Butter, some greek yogurt. Or make your Protein shakes with milk to add some Calcium and some more calories. You are probably in starvation mode right now.
  6. I see a major change. Good job. I just took one month pictures and OMG I think I was carrying all my extra weight in my face..lol

I Know This Is An Nsv!

That is awesome and we so need to do lunch when I move back to boynton
  8. I have a 5 year old and a 2 year old. The first couple days I felt like crap. I got home on Friday and by Monday I was okay to care for them. With children they are pretty easy. The only thing I couldn't do is pick them up and give them a bath. So dh gave them a bath every night when he got home and my 2 year old learned to climb in the car and sit in her car seat. I couldn't go to the store with them alone until this week because I couldn't pick her up to put her in the cart. I just went to the store for the first time alone with them yesterday and picked her up and was fine. We sat around a lot and watched movies, colored, they knew to be careful with mommy's boobo. It was funny because they would lift my shirt say boobo and then kiss it. Sometimes my 2 year old whined I couldn't pick her up (she is going through a rough separation anxiety phase), so I would sit on the couch and she would sit with me. By 3 wks post op, the clouds parted and I got my energy back and it was wonderful. The only thing though is make sure your husband is supportive and try to pick up the slack. Dh walked through the door and I was pretty much off. I went to take a shower cuddle with my kindle and just relaxed. I was done for because my whole energy was drained.
  9. 4 wks post op. I couldn't do cream of wheat but could do oatmeal. Somethings I can't eat, then if I try again a week later its fine. I couldn't do tuna at 3 weeks but then tried again today and it was fine. The only thing I found so far is water. Won't go down no matter what, been trying for 4 wks and anything cold hurts like heck. It has to be chilled but not ice cold.
  10. I was sleeved on 11/29 and had a really rough time. Not physically, but emotionally, buyers remorse, you name it. I was depressed about never eating again, never feeling better again, everything I tried to eat made me nauseous, constipation, taking a gulp by accident and hurting. Just a big old emotional mess. Now that I am 3 wks out I am feeling one thousand times better. I have lost 17lbs since surgery, have my energy, can now chew again. Finally crawling out of my hole and slowly feeling like myself again. I drink protein shakes, eat cheese and lunch meat and can handle salmon. Chicken only in chicken salad. Tuna wont go down. Will wait a couple more weeks. Nuts are my salvation. I snack on them all the time and its great. I miss fruit but will wait a bit longer. Still having a hard time going out to eat and learning my cues so I don't overeat and then feel horrible, but slowly the clouds are lifting and I am getting there

    Blog Anyone?

I just saved yours. I blog on my regular blog and added a section to talk about vertical sleeve, but since I had this blog way before I didn't want to only talk about that. The link is on my signature
  12. I asked a similar question before. I always been regular, after surgery my period came 2 wks early and now it came again. Everyone told me it was normal from surgery. Crappy side effect lol
  13. I am still fitting in my clothes, but yoga pants are awesome. Buy a size smaller. They adjust and fit wonderfully with a wide range of weight. Also ross and marshalls you can find some nice pieces for cheap cheap.
  14. Anti nausea medicine. I already knew I get nauseous with anesthesia also really itchy so we discussed that and he made sure to give me anti nausea medicine and left an order for benadryl in case I got itchy from the anesthesia. Without those, I would have been miserable.
  15. After the vinegar incident I want to make sure nothing else I take will cause that. What do you take for headache?? how about head cold?? (I use to take alkazeltzer but now I am not so sure) constipation?? indigestion?? Thank you
  16. I love this thread. Thank you for it. Sleeved 11/29 (tomorrow will be 3 wks)- started 233 and now down to 222. So 11 lbs in 3 wks.
  17. I read somewhere that apple cider vinegar is good to help you go to the bathroom and since I am having problems in that area, I decided to have 1 teaspoon. Well it went down hot like when you drink whiskey. My whole stomach feels hot, I feel nauseous, tried throwing up but can't just feeling really bad. I don't think the yogurt I ate 1 hr before is helping things. I know stupid stupid stupid I am to the point of going to the hospital, only thing that is stopping me is the fact my insurance doesn't kick in until the 1st, that means if I go, they will want to do all kinds of tests and I will have a huge bill. Help please, is this normal or should I go right now?? Thank you
  18. Thank you so much guys. I had the time from hell. I took 3 tums, than drank some water, and ate some crackers. I felt much better. I really appreciate it. Never again will I touch vinegar and I already tried the milk of magnesium but its not helping. I will try the Miralax and see if that helps. Thanks again.
  19. I know I want to slam my head in the wall. I didn't even think about healing stomach vinegar might not be such a good idea. I was just thinking oh vinegar helps get things moving since benafiber is not doing anything. Totally stupid moment. I didn't even think about the acidic and to take tums. I will try that. Thank you so much guys.
  20. I just had surgery there with Dr Almanza Nov 29th. I had a wonderful experience and was treated very good. I made wonderful friends at the recovery house that I still keep in touch with and will forever. All in all it was great. If you have any more questions let me know. I went by myself btw

    Super Saturday Weigh In

    221. I have lost 12lbs in almost 3 wks and somehow I am feeling better about it. Hoping for another 5 before the end of this month.
  22. I was on Tums, switched to Pepcid because the stomach acid is just horrible. I need to take at least one a day. I don't know for how long will I need to take them. Does it get better or do we have to continue on taking them and aren't they bad for you??

    Banana Babes

Gas x and wearing a girdle has helped me a lot. I bought one at walmart for 20 bucks. Its just like a tight tank top. That is surely helping get the gas out. I have lost 10 lbs so far. I am praying and hoping things start moving faster because this is frustrating. I am also really missing my diet coke but doing much better. You guys are doing awesome
  24. I am right there with you. On Tuesday I will be 3 wks and have only lost 10. I am so disappointed but hoping and praying I won't stall. I also started at 233. So very very similar.
  25. Sorry but I got to ask this, did the surgery screw up with your time of the month?? I am pretty regular been on a schedule and now I got my period completely unexpected over 1 wk earlier. Is this normal??? Thank you
