I have just recently switched my surgeon to the New York Bariatric Group in Long Island. I am going to be using Dr Andrade. Has anyone used this facility or any of the doctors? I found the information at stopobesityforlife.com .. they seem to be a great set of doctors and staff there so we will see in the next coming appointments.. Please feel free to give me any info or comments for ppl that have used this center

I was just wondering if anyone out there that is post-op eats whatever they want and still loses weight? I honestly had the worst time for the first 4 weeks.. I was in the hospital twice for dehydration and couldn't drink but maybe 20-25oz's per day and maybe 30 grams of Protein... I started to eat and drink more around the 5th week and the weight just started melting off.. I flew to Missouri for Christmas to be with my family (I currently live in NY) and i was able to eat anything i wanted.. chocolates, Cookies, ham, dressing, anything.. I mean I could only eat about 3-4 bites total and I was sooooo miserable from being so full, but then when I came back home I had lost 10lbs in 10days while I was gone.. Since I have been back home the last 2 weeks I am still eating unhealthly things like a chicken nuggett, chips and salsa, fried fish.. I feel like a skinny person in a fat person's body. you know how you have those little skinny friends that can eat whatever they want and never gain weight.. that's kind of how I feel, but only taking a few tiny bites of ANYTHING and still losing 4-6lbs per week. I am 8 weeks post-op and have lost 42lbs total. 27lbs of that was lost in the first 4 weeks. Just wondering if anyone else's experience has been like mine? I only eat chicken and fish ... no BEEF no PORK.. I don't want anyone PRE-OP reading this thinking they can just eat JUNK food after surgery b/c I do think this is a fluke and it might catch up with me.. I mean I have heard of people no exercising during the losing phase and still losing weight but not this.. Please anyone's blunt comments are appreciated..

I'm so glad that someone else experienced this too. I assumed that I would lose weight even if I ate unhealthy things b/c I mean come on if your only eating 500-700 calories per day you have no choice but to lose weight.. I was 260 when I started my journey and am now 218. It feels so good to be a my weight pre pregnancy. I haven't been this small since I was 17. I am only 27 now but it still feels so good to be so close to the 100's .. Thanks for the info on your journey.. When did you have your surgery?

Hi I am having my surgery on Nov 7th and am also on a pre op diet.. At first the NUT told me nothing to eat only 4 Protein shakes per day and 2 servings of sugar free Jello or pudding or broth if I needed it.. Well by the 2nd day I was starving and couldn't deal with the hunger pains so I e-mailed her and she told me that I could have lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers and a light Italian dressing when i needed it. I have been eating salad twice per day and have added in chicken about 1 oz. she says it is fine, but I am feeling like if I can have chicken and salad WHY not eat like normal stuff... I know why don't mind me I am just VENTING!!! I will stick to high protein if I do have to eat something. You should add me as a friend so we can keep up with each other, and be each other's support.

Where did u have your surgery?

I am having my surgery here and was wondering if anyone else has used any of the doctors in this center??? My doctor is Dr Andrade and the only information I have on him is what he has told me and his nurses.. I would love to find someone that has at least used the New York Bariatric Group's center maybe any of the doctors in there... this would make me feel better.. I did find a lil info on his website at stopobesityforlife.com but that's just not enought for me

i have Fidelis Care NY (Medicaid) and this doctor accepts my insurance. I have everything completed, like all the clearance's you have to have from my previous doctor so I will be seeing dr Andrade on Oct 13 for the first time. She said if I have all my clearance's by the time of my appointment I will get my surgery date the same day b/c I already have everything done prior. I am very excited I have been on this journey since June 2011. I know a lot of people take a lot longer but I have researched this for over a year and I know this is the right thing for me. I just haven't read any reviews online about this particular center only the ones on there website. I was just checking here to see if anyone had used them. Good Luck on your upcoming surgery... please post how you felt immediately after surgery that is what I am most nervous about..

Hello everyone.. I moved to NY 2 years ago from Missouri when I got married. I have a house in New Hyde Park and now living in Upstate NY near Albany. I was first in the Bariatric Program at Albany Medical Center but have had the worst time with the nurses and Dr's there so I have recently switched to Dr. Garber at the NY Bariatric Group in New Hyde Park. I currently have all of my clearance's that I need for the surgery and will have my surgery date very soon according to what the nurse said at Dr Garber's office.. I am very excited and looking for a end of October or at the very least 1st of November surgery date .... WOOHOO!!! It's been a hell of a journey,, i'm sure everyone can relate to... I have lost 55lbs in the last 9 months though by dieting and exercising but can't lose anymore weight doing the same things that made me lose the first 55lbs so I need a little extra help to get me down another 100lbs.... I am currently 255 and 5'6 so my BMI is right at 41.. I can't wait to see what this next year brings my way.. i know it's going to be hard but I'm totally up for the challenge. I was wondering if anyone here has had there Sleeve done by any of the surgeons at the New York Bariatric Group in New Hyde Park.. just wanting to know how every thing went from Pre op to post op... hope to chat with you guys more !! Hi I'm from upstate NY and hopefully getting my surgery date on tuesday the 20th... I'm super excited.. i've lost 55 lbs on my own and would love to find someone that's close to talk to about the surgery.
