My Dr. wants me to get to 135, but I want 125-130. For my height 5 ft 1 inch most charts say 105-115, but that will never happen and I really would not want to be that thin. JP

My Dr. told me last week that I have lost 29% of my excess body fat thus far. I weighed 224 and their goal for me is 135 with a BMI of 25. The Dr. figured my excess body fat was 89.6. She divided that by my weight lost to date(29/89.6) which came out to .29 or 29% excess weight loss. I am not sure how to figure the excess body fat, but will ask next time I see her. JP

4jin, I have BCBS of Il. and they paid 80% after meeting $500 deductable. I had to have a psy. eval., letter from a Dr. saying the surgery was necessary, meet with a dietician, have a thyroid test, and last two years of medical records. Keep callin the insurance co. weekly after your paper work has been submitted. They said I was their mosy proactive patient ever, but it paid off. Good luck. JP

4jin, Your BMI is high enough, but it just depends on your insurance co. Talk to your family Dr. and get a sleep study to find out if you have sleep apnea. Call the Dr. where you are having the consult and find out if you can do your psy. or attend any meetings that will look good for the insurance co. Call your insurance co. and find out what the requirements are and get them in writing. Don't depend only on the people at the Dr. office to talk to your insurance co. call them yourself. Are you depressed? My Dr. said I was depressed due to my weight. I also had my gynecologist and family Dr. write letters for me saying I would benefit from lap band. Give your Dr. a list of all failed diets. Brain storm! Good luck. JP

I was banded Aug. 15 and I have the pain too. It usually happens if I eat or drink too fast. The Dr. said it is a trigger point like what Sue said. It hasn't been happening as much lately, so maybe it will go away forever I hope. Sometimes I apply heat or use my tens unit to stop the pain, or I should say take my mind off of it. The pain is so sharp it is unbearable at times. Good luck to all. JP

:)Best of luck Robin Bird. You can do it! It may seem difficult at first, but hang in there the pay off is sweet. I also fear failing, but since my second fill I am no longer hungry. You will learn how to eat and think different. Please keep posting. JP

What is your current fill in your 4cc band?
short1 replied to Paulax's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am at 1.6 cc. Just got the second fill last Thursday. I can finally tell a difference. :clap2: JP -
Many times there is no weight loss and even weight gain befor a fill. Go to the Dr. you need a fill. You are not a failure! It may take several fills before you get good restriction I know it to be true. Keep your chin up. JP

I eat pita bread and 12 grain bread toasted and it goes down just fine. I can not eat white bread. I have had tacos several times and one time had a problem, but I don't think I chewed it enough. Good luck. JP
-
I know just how you feel. I was banded 8/15/07 and have very little restriction. I had a fill 4 weeks ago and go again 10/25/07. I can hardly wait. I know I eat too much, but keep doing it. What is wrong here? I want to loose the weight so bad, but some times just fall off the wagon. I don't eat until I am sick or anything, but I know I eat too much. Please get that candy out of your house!!! If it was in my house I could not sleep untill eating it. Like Wheetsin said have a small piece, because if you are like me once I start obsessing about something (food) if I don't distract myself or eat a small amount of what ever it is more than likely I will over eat. I know how hard it is I live it every day. Please hang in there. JP:)

MissSac Hi I too am from Indiana (around Indianapolis). I was banded 8 weeks ago. So far so good. Take a deep breath you will be fine. By day 3 I was walking a mile and back to work in 7. There is a lot to think about and like you said the unknown is scarry. Use this time to start walking or riding a bike. Start trying foods on your post-op diet list, and try different protein drinks to see what you like best. I personally like Unjury, but there are many kinds. Good luck and keep posting!

short1 replied to mcondjel's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Three days after surgery I got hives real bad. I thought I would scratch my skin off. I am now allergic to band-aids and tape. I had to get a shot of predisone and used some sort of cream. I hope you feel better. JP -

Left shoulder pain 5 mos post op
short1 replied to ChantayMarie71's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I also have this mystery left shoulder pain after eating. I talked to my orthopedic Dr. and he said it is a trigger spot. He said it would go away soon, and if not to come back. Well gess what I still have the pain. Some times it hurts so bad I use my tens unit to interrupt the pain impulse. I try not to over eat because it really hurts if I do. If anyone finds out how to make it stop please share. JP:help: -
I am still new to all of this and have only had one fill. I would NEVER consider letting anyone except my Dr. or his assistant filling or unfilling me. We have a 24 hour emergency hotline to call if we are in trouble. This entire thread scares and angers me.
-
I can hardly wait for my first fill. I was banded Aug. 15 and have no restriction. I can eat anything and if not careful I can eat large portions. I get my first fill Oct. 1. I am so scared this will not work for me. I have only lost 17 Lbs. and 8 of that was pre-diet. My family wants to know why I am not loosing faster. They accuse me of cheating. I drink the Protein shakes and walk daily, but seem to be stuck at 17 lbs.:cry I read other people's threads and it seems like everyone is loosing more than I am help!:help: JP

Anyone with United Healthcare get LB?
short1 replied to saravalintine's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have UHC and they paid 90%. My Dr. said 1-2 pounds a week is an average weight loss. Good luck! JP -
Thanks everyone for all of your support, it made me cry. I weighed myself today and I am down 2 Lbs. :clap2: I realize I did not gain the weight over night, but would sure like to loose it in my sleep. This website is the best thing for me when I am feeling depressed or frustrated. I wish all of you the best of luck! We are all winners. JP

Missy,

My dietician said to get 70-80 grams of protein a day. Call your dietician and see what she says. It is probably too soon for you to be eating meat. Good luck.

JP
