Irrational Fear Of Losing Too Much Weight
christin replied to CHELL's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is one fear I hadn't considered! This would be uncharted territory for me! -
Negative Medical Professionals
christin replied to MyVSG2012's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I guess I had the opposite. When I was getting my final pre-op bloodwork done, the tech was going on and on about how jealous she was that I was having surgery and how much she wished she could afford to do it, etc. I just tried to encourage her to look for all avenues available to her. I felt bad for her! -
How Much Time Should I Take Off Work After The Surgery?
christin replied to Jessica_R143's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took 2 weeks of medical leave. I based this on my recovery from gall bladder surgery a few years ago. I felt fine after a week with that one. This one I wanted a little extra time to get used to the new food requirements etc. -
Well I Thought I Was Done, But....
christin replied to cludgie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Your weight sounds great for your height. I think your mind hasn't yet caught up with your body. Toning is an ongoing process and working on that will likely make you smaller even if you stay at the same weight. You have done great! Enjoy your success! -
I just paid the remainder of my surgery bill this morning before my surgery next Monday! I also have an insurance exclusion. I certainly feel that the end result will be worth it. I look at it as a substantial investment in my health and my future. I just think of all the money I have spent on food, diets, bigger clothes, and gym memberships over the years and the medical bills that will follow from the effects of obesity if I don't take care of this problem. In my mind it makes perfect financial sense. I don't think about weight regain. I look at this as a change for life. I will follow the rules and do what it takes to lose and then maintain. I wouldn't make this decision or spend this kind of money if I was not truly ready to do the work... whatever it takes! I am certain that with commitment, this will absolutely work. I have had fearful thoughts like you, but have too many examples of success to ignore. Best of luck in your decision!

Emotional And Freaking Out
christin replied to melissa45154's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Melissa- I am sure your feelings are very common, so don't feel bad for having them. I had my first anxiety today as well and I have 2 weeks to go. It is the beginning of a big change in life and change is scary. Even great change is uncomfortable and the reality of it is hitting you. I bet you will feel better tomorrow. This process is an emotional roller coaster for all of us. Be kind to yourself. It's going to be just fine. -
Gastric Sleeve Surgery Without 2 Week Pre-op Diet?
christin replied to shellbelle's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't have a 2 week pre-op diet, but I am doing it anyway. I started today. If I am dying, then I will have a piece of protein (most likely a boca burger), but otherwise I am doing pretty much the same diet I will be doing for the first few weeks after surgery. -
It is a little funny that we all do this and think we are the only ones. lol I gotta tell you though... I finally stopped a few weeks back. It must be a mental process that we all go through because I finally woke up from that silliness! Now that I am 2 weeks away from surgery, I am mentally taking this very seriously and there will be not one morsel of bad food going into my mouth in the next 14 days. It is like a switch has gone off in my brain.

I can't believe I am 2 weeks out and have my pre-op appt this Thurs. Today for the first time I got nervous butterflies just thinking about it! It is hitting me that this is REALLY happening!!

Dr Oz On Weight Loss Surgery
christin replied to RosieSweetie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I needed to read that. Surgery is in two weeks and my dad was asking me to reconsider the procedure at Christmas Eve dinner. I told him I wasn't changing my mind, but quotes like that really reinforce just WHY I am doing this. Thanks for posting! -
I am Jan 9th too!

Can We Get Back To Support And Stop Attacking Each Other Please?
christin replied to italianlady13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree that nobody should attack another person. I do feel there is a difference between disagreeing with someone and attacking them (although both can sometimes sting!) I believe we should all be as supportive to others as we possibly can while maintaining honesty. I would hope people would be honest with me even if it was something I didn't want to hear. However, I would want them to express it with respect and care. Sorry that you have felt this way. I'm not sure which posts you mean either, but hope you will stick around! -

VSG & Negartive People
christin replied to jessicaemilia's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As a single parent, I have had some of the same thoughts. The reality is this... I am probably more at risk of dying in an auto accident than from this surgery. Do I stop driving because it is possible that someone could hit me on the road? No. I drive safely and wear my seatbelt and take any other precautions I can when I am out there. I am doing the same with the surgery. I am staying healthy pre-op to make my surgery go as smooth as possible and I picked a very experienced doctor for the same reason. I will lower my risk in all the ways I have control over and let the surgeon do the rest! -
