Anyone Had Their Surgery Done Through The Navel?

What she said. (We have the same doc) My incision is still healing, but it amazes me that a major surgery happened through one tiny 2 inch incision on my navel. I can already tell that the scar will be basically invisible. It was glued together. Fantastic!

    Had My Surgery Wednesday

Congratulations! Mine was Monday and I'm glad I have another week off from work. I feel normal, but find I tire quickly if I start cleaning or doing stuff.

Am I Being A Pig Already?

I have been wondering this same thing. While I am grateful that I have not had any problems taking in fluids or shakes, I also don't really feel a full feeling even after drinking an 8 ounce Protein shake. I don't feel hungry either, but I guess I am confused as to what full feels like on liquids? Definitely hope this changes on solid food. Not really feeling restriction unless I take too big a gulp of Water.
  4. I was in the hospital for one night.
  5. Congratulations! Sounds like you did well. On day 3 I am feeling almost normal. Get ready to sleep a lot!

    Head Hunger

I noticed it was food commercials for an hour followed by an hour of weight watchers commercials! Ironic! It was really making me have cravings too, but I can tell I am not physically hungry at all. I don't know what else to do except distract myself and hope this phase passes.
  7. Was sleeved yesterday morning. The remainder of the day was really rough. The pain wasn't bad at all, but the nausea was terrible. They finally gave me some kind of narcotic anti-nausea drug which knocked me out cold. It must have worked really well because I feel fairly normal at the moment! Finally able to sip on Water and crystal light and I am walking around just fine. Hope this means I will get released today! My surgeon found a hernia too and fixed that while he was in there. I had no idea I even had one! I wonder what causes that?
  8. Congrats! Today is day 3 for me and I have felt better every day. Sounds like you are on that track. I did have a little soreness after all the pain meds from the hospital wore off yesterday, but it is much better today.

    Finally Sleeved!

Thanks soforreal and juli! hadouni... I had my first greek yogurt today and baby applesauce (hospital sent me home with it) and it went down very well. I am not allowed to have coffee for 30 days, but I am not really craving it at this point. I am sure I will get very bored of my small menu of foods for the next 3 weeks, but it is nice to not be hungry. I am just eating because I need to.
  11. I am 3 days post op and while I am not physically hungry at all, I am having horrible cravings for all kinds of food! I am hoping the cravings will pass since I am on protein shakes, yogurt, and 4 oz. pureed fruit for the next 3 weeks. Solid food just sounds so good! I am also taking my pepcid every day.
  12. I just couldn't believe it went down the day after my surgery! lol Bad timing! :pout:

    Hiccups And Gas Pain?

I haven't had much gas pain either, but have tiny burps after all that I sip. I'm not sure I can sip any slower than I am though.

    Finally Sleeved!

Thanks! Glad yours went well also! That nausea really is the worst. It feels great to be able to drink again! The chicken broth tastes like heaven! Who knew? lol They won't let me do Jello at all. Can only have Water, crystal light, and broth. The warm liquid feels really good going down. Best of recovery wishes to you also!

Same with me.. today was my only clear liquids day, but I still really watched myself this week and did a lot of protein shakes. I'm really hungry, so I am glad this surgery is first thing in the morning!!

    Monday!

I am on Monday too! My hospital call is 6 am! My surgery is out of town and I leave in the morning to drive there!
  21. I started out planning to tell nobody except my daughter. Then I opened up to my two closest friends. Their reaction was so supportive (one of them volunteered to stay with me the week I am out of town for surgery!). Fueled by the initial support, I finally told my father right before Christmas. He is a little negative (expected that), but I just wanted him to know in case anything happened. While I feel fine about sharing, it may only be with a select group of people as I go along in the journey. I'm just not sure yet.

    I'm In The Hospital

Peacequeen... so sorry that you have a leak and that you are feeling sick! I will pray for a quick resolution for you so you can get back to a normal recovery. Hang in there!

    Losing My Groove

One thing you posted that I can relate to is not being much of a cook or meal planner. That has been part of my failure up until this moment of having surgery. That just has to change for both of us. We are totally responsible for what we prepare and what goes into our mouth whether anyone around us supports those changes or not. I am planning to work very hard at planning and learning to cook for my new lifestyle. I know it won't be easy to change those habits, but I think that is a big part of this journey.
  25. I didn't have a required pre-op diet, but I still wanted to try to lose a bit of weight before surgery. That hasn't happened for me. I am trying to look at the positive side which is that I have maintained my current weight since the beginning of December. This seems like an accomplishment because it has been difficult to stay on track and not eat everything in sight!
