    "cheating" (A Concern)

I can't even count the times I have felt like cheating. 3 weeks of liquids is really tough. I am getting so tired of Protein shakes and greek yogurt!! I am just too scared to cheat. I don't want to harm my brand new stomach and I don't want to sabotage something I paid so much cash for. So far so good!

    Just Got Out Of Surgery...

Sounds like you are recovering well so far! Congrats!

    Drinking While Eating

My doctor says I can drink right up until my first bite, but have to wait an hour after the last bite before I can take a drink. I don't like it either, but it's part of the deal. I know I have to follow the rules. It stinks, but we will get used to it.
  4. I think it was 4 days. I have only had 3 semi-solid ones since surgery 12 days ago. I pretty much expect this until I start introducing solid foods again. I'm on liquids for another week.

    Using Straws

I was reading my surgery manual today and it actually suggested using straws for smaller sips.

    Boyfriend's Leak

I am speechless after reading this whole thread. I am so sorry that both of you have gone through all this. What a mess. I really hope this stops very soon for him. It must be so frustrating!
  7. So sorry for the loss of your mom!
  8. I will be doing cartwheels if I lose 36 lbs this month. I am not on track for anything even close to that, however! As others have already said... that is an amazing loss!

    Am I Being Ridiculous?

Debbie- Everyone has a unique journey and are content at different sizes. That is fine. However, I feel exactly the same as you! I paid a whole bunch of money for this surgery and I didn't do that to settle for anything short of my goal weight! I anticipate that the journey may be a little longer or more difficult than I want it to be, but I don't want to ever lose sight of the finish line. I want to know what it feels like to be a middle aged model too! hehe

    I Disagree With You But...

My Dad also tried to talk me out of surgery. I told him that I loved him, but that I was not asking for his permission. I was only asking for his support. Today, now that I am 10 days out of surgery and seem to be recovering perfectly, he called and told me how happy he is for me etc. It became clear to me today that he was just worried about the surgery and me coming through it ok.
  15. I am 10 days out and I got on the scale this morning to a 2 lb gain from Monday. I am also in the week leading up to my time of the month, so it is probably related. Who knows what or why our bodies do what they do! All I know is I am eating exactly what I am supposed to, getting in my fluids, and walking almost every day. There is no way I am gaining weight and I am sure you are not either.

    Too Full Again...............

I am still on liquids for another 10 days, but I am struggling a little to get used to the new sensations in my sleeve as well. I definitely don't know what full feels like because I am not really hungry like I used to be. It is all such a new experience. You are not alone in your question.

    Replying To Posts

Posting private emails even without the name is very rude as this is a "public" forum. As for the subject behind this thread, I don't get it. I use the quote button sometimes and will continue to if I am referencing a particular post. I don't think many people come here to "feel important". I think we just come here to learn from the vertical sleeve experiences of others.
  18. I also had the repair and it was very uncomfortable to swallow for the first week, but it has already gone away and I am 10 days post op. So hang in there!

    A Hiatal Hernia

I also had one (unknown to me) and my surgeon fixed it during my surgery. I was really surprised. I had a tiny bit of acid reflux from time to time, but not enough to suspect there was a reason behind it.

    Sleeve Size

I asked my surgeon also before surgery and he used a 34 on me. He doesn't do that size on everyone. He makes the determination based on your teeth and the size of your airway. I asked him what teeth had to do with it and he said that some patients had teeth in bad shape and would not be able to chew their food as well and he gave those patients a bigger size to make sure the food didn't get stuck and that there was room fir the food to breakdown further in the stomach if it needed to. I had never heard that one before!
  21. Propel zero berry flavor: They gave this to me in the hospital and I really liked it. It is a lightly flavored Water enhanced with nutrients. I also second Isereno on the Lipton Diet Green Tea with Citrus Flavor. Great stuff!
  22. Also one week out today and I cracked up a little when I saw the title of this thread because I actually considered doing something like this! My daughter was chowing down on Ritz sour cream and onion crackers and Chips/Crackers are one of my trigger foods. I could smell the seasoning! The moment passed and I didn't do it thankfully, but I totally understand what you mean! I'm not sure if it is so much the "food addiction" as it is the fact that I miss having different flavors outside of Jello, yogurt, and Protein shakes! Hang in there ... we will be eating more normal foods soon!
  23. Definitely not getting hungry although I still have a little mental desire for food. That mental part is getting better every day. I was able to get my fluids in from the 2nd day and I think that helped me flush out all the IV fluid from the hospital. The more water you drink, the quicker your body will release the fluids and the quicker you will start to lose! Happy recovering! I am feeling a little better every day and hope you are too!
  24. Just a little over a week ago I was having these same excited/nervous feelings. It feels so good to be on the other side now and you will feel great also! Just relax and enjoy the beginning of your journey! Best wishes for a successful surgery and a quick recovery!

    I'm In The Hospital

So glad to read that you were finally able to go home. So sorry you have had to go through all of this! Be encouraged. You sure seem like you are keeping a great attitude, but it must be difficult at some moments. Thinking of you and looking forward to your full recovery!
